Definitely not a place I would return too. $300 dollars later and sick. Food ran right through me, made it home just in time for a crime scene in the bathroom. Food had no taste.

The food here is ok. I wanted to try it based on the good reviews I read. Was disappointed. The service wasn't great either.

Hubby made reservations for us to dine here for brunch with my MIL for Mother's Day. The parking lot is shared and this was a very nice weekend, I'm sure the nicest it's been in a few weeks, so the lot was packed to the brim. We lucked out with parking and when we arrived and gave the name, we were given the choice of inside or out. We chose outside to take advantage of the beautiful, sunny day. Despite their outdoor dining being off the lot, it still felt far removed with the elevated space and plants. The umbrellas helped with the intense sun. We were able to have them raise and lower when we wanted shade or not. Juliana was our server and she was the best. She said she was new but was very attentive pleasant. We started with cocktails, and I loved my passion fruit mezcalita. I asked for it not to be too sweet and it was perf. The food was great. I loved every bite. Not one had anything bad to say. We all enjoyed our food. Grub Rundown: Oysters - the grilled variety were tasty but I would have liked them to be larger. They cooked down and shriveled to nothingness. Yummy nothingness, but nothingness all the same. I ahd a half dozen blue points for raw bar and they were good also, served with lemon, cocktail sauce, and a mignonette. Calamari - a must have! These were sooo good! The breading is top tier. They need to sell their technique because these were the best I've had on a long time. Caesar Salad - I had it with salmon and they give a nice sized filet. My only grip is that I would prefer to have the crispy skin on my salmon. If people who order salmon don't like the skin, they should have to request it be removed. I shouldn't have to request the skin be served on. The gray layer just isn't appealing, and crispy salmon skin it tops. Breakfast Tacos - hubby had these but don't ask me how they tasted...he was seated too far. All I know is that he liked them a lot. French Toast Bites - these were good. I ordered them for my kiddo. She loved them but there were a lot and it's all sweet. I ordered a side of breakfast sausage which she appreciated, and the two links were big and very tasty. Shrimp & Lobster Hash - my MIL loved this dish. She finished every bite so I'll take her actions as word. The service was great, the tables were clean. We had a few hangups where we had to ask for silverware after food was served, and when I asked for fresh cracked pepper, I was given a pepper shaker. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and my kiddo asked to come back, so that's a win.

Random night out for Happy Hour. Nice outdoor area, but as we did happy hour we had to eat inside. Still very nice. Service was great, did not have to wait long for anything. And the food so good. We shared the duck wings and oysters. I had the steak bowl and my husband had the crab burger. Both excellent dishes. I'm sure to be back again for a nice dinner!

Really great location, we sat outside and it was really perfectly spaced. Really tiny bathroom situation. Service was okay, we were one of the first groups for the day. Food was good, nothing really special. I asked for crispy bacon but practically got bacon jerky...

Nice lunchtime gathering with friends. Food was nicely presented and tasted good. Only snag is that no free dinner rolls was served at the table. For what I paid for one dish, I would have expected some free bread with butter or olive oil at the beginning.

First weekend in over 2 months we're not supposed to get rain YAY the roads were packed and Port J was busy. We wanted to go back to a place we had brunch before but they don't open until 5 on Saturday. Did a quick search and found this place. The deck is nice but the inside is very small - thankfully it was still nice enough to eat outside. Not much of a view, you're literally overlooking the municipal parking lot. Food was tasty and service was good. Dz Oysters, calamari app, mahi mahi tacos, house burger and three beers (with $20 tip) came to almost $130 Only gripe is that I know it's off season but the oyster were tiny - I mean tiny. Would have been nice to have been told beforehand. Otherwise a nice lunch.

What a pleasant surprise it was. Totally delicious, great service and beautiful ambience. The inside is well decorated- and the outside is very comfy, with a lovely view of the town. Will go again for sure.

This restaurant has possibly the worst service in the area. Each time my family has come here we have waited upwards of 45 minutes for food to come out. Today, we waited for an appetizer that never came. We watched as the same appetizer was delivered to tables who came after us. When we asked the waitress about the status on the order, she returned and said they were out of the appetizer we ordered. We are currently still waiting for our salads. There is no way in any restaurant it should take almost an hour for salad. In any case, I hope I get to eat lunch soon... If a similar experience has not happened the last time I dined here, I would think it is a fluke. However, it seems to just be the status here and my family will not be returning, even though we love the dog friendly atmosphere. That is why I gave 2 stars, because they are nice to the dogs!

My main course was the Shrimp Scampi. The shrimp was extremely fresh and succulent, the sauce was prepared flavorful and delicious. The presentation on the plate wasn't the best, it looked kind of lonely but really made no difference, just had to mention. Maybe some garnishment or scattered parsley when plated might be nice. This was absolutely a perfect dish for me but next time I will order extra sauce. I chose the rice as a side and that too was very flavorful and delicious! The restaurant was packed, but people were also finishing up their meals so we gave it a shot. We were able to sit outside and the outside dining area was set up really nice and comfortable with bistro lighting and even some potted palm trees. Felt more like San Diego than Port Jefferson. Inside was also tastefully done up in the nautical theme which is good to know if it's a rainy day or in the colder weather. I've read some reviews about the service and we had the exact opposite with super attentive service. Our server, Brianna came over right away and took our order in no time. I mentioned doing a dish gluten free and she asked if I had celiac. She went above and beyond making sure that my meal would be safe to eat and offered substitutions so there would be no cross contamination. I've had the condition for 18 years so I know pretty well what I can tolerate and that most places let you down and I just deal with it. That wasn't the case at all here and Brianna made sure of it. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and this was one of the best versions I ever had. Like in the top 3 really and one the other two was home made. It was that good. I had plenty of carrots and celery to nosh on with the dip and they kept the bread on a separate plate altogether. Like I said, they really understood my condition I also had bariatric surgery back in the winter and I'm slowly venturing out in the world of solid food. So I picked the surf and turf steak and lobster sandwich. I figured I know I can handle steak if done right and I wouldn't be too bummed if I couldn't tolerate the lobster. Brianna had it served to me on a really good gluten free bun. This sandwich really worked out so much better than I thought it would. The steak was exactly to order and the lobster was super tender. I was only able to have maybe a fifth to a quarter of it. That's equally because that's all I can physically have these days and because the sandwich was beyond huge. The rest of the family's choices were home runs too and included a killer wedge salad, a perfectly cooked burger and salmon. Those were devoured so no complaints with those as well. It should be noted by the reactions by everyone at the adjacent tables were having a very similar experience and it was just a really enjoyable time. Our family is getting older (aren't we all), so diners and moments like this are so special. Castaways definitely held up its end of the bargain. I'm so glad we stopped in, and I can't wait to stop back the next time we're down port.

In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

What an amazing place, they made our night perfect! The service was impeccable, the bus boy so attentive my husband gave him a $5 tip at the end of dinner. To start, you are served some toasted buttery like pieces of bread with hummus. I do not like hummus but my husband said it was the best he's ever had! They did bring me plain bread with homemade butter which was delicious! I chose the chicken spring rolls that came with a mango type sipping sauce as my appetizer. Outstanding, I can't say enough about how delicious the spring rolls are. Filled to the brim with a filling loaded with chicken! I was so tempted to order another serving but I wanted to save room for dinner. I absolutely will next time! Unlike many restaurants, at Fifth Season,, you can choose other side dishes if you're not happy with what your dish is served with as noted on the menu! I wanted the chicken but chose the coconut rice and organic carrots as my sides instead and I have to say, its a MUST for you to try as well. The flavor of each is so perfect, the rice is like a risotto consistency but hard to explain. Just trust me on this, over the top delicious! The chicken was very tasty and flavorful, just needed a little more sauce (that's my liking though! I love lots of extra sauce on my food), but I highly recommend trying this dish! We did not order dessert, my family wanted to get some ice cream in town but I will try dessert next time. The Fifth Season is now in the top five favorite restaurants for me! I haven't been here in a very long time so I'm excited to see how the restaurant has stayed in business over the years. We are shown to our table upstairs. The bar area on a Friday night looks fun and active. There's great views of Port Jefferson harbor so the restaurant ambiance is nice. We're seated and are given restaurant week menus as well as the wine/cocktail list. Listen, It's Friday nite and I don't want a wine cooler! Give to me a standard Martini stirred (Shaken is just dumb) with stuffed blue cheese olives. The ladies order appletini's and we're ready to order off the restaurant week menu. The menu has a nice selection of different offerings, I'm into all things local so I'm going to start with the beet salad and Red Snapper. The beet salad was loaded with beets! I love beets, they did a good job with this started dish. I must point out, the dish must have been prepped earlier in the day. The green salad was slighty wilted when served to me. The Red Snapper, what is that sauce on top? And the fish was sitting on a bunch of zoodles?? The fish wasn't seasoned, it wasn't very flavorful. I'm eating around the zoodles, meh. The cheesecake I ordered, it was also just a standard dessert. I didn't finish the fish or my dessert. Review is over, Fifth Season Restaurant? See you in another 5 years.

We had a table near the bar and the ambiance is very pretty, but can be a little dark. Noise level was perfect, could easily talk to everyone without feeling like I was hard of hearing. Service was kind and helpful, but it certainly felt slow. I would have ordered more drinks if they just had come around and checked in on us a touch more frequently! Although it did seem like they might have been down some staff that night, so I don't fully ding them for that. The most convenient parking is the paid lot right in front, but there is some street parking further away if you're willing to walk a little. The real reason you're here though is the food and drinks! Starting with cocktails, I tried their mezcal version of an espresso martini, 43 Espressions, it's a little bolder than your typical espresso martini, but that's what I also like about it more. Also tried the Lavender Fields, which is a delightfully fresh summer/spring cocktail that is very easily sippable. For a quick appetizer I tried the French onion soup, as classic as it ever has been. When you have found perfection, there is no need to try and reinvent it, and luckily they don't! On to the mains. I had Dave's Roasted Chicken. Perfectly cooked and the sides of paella rice and asparagus make an excellent pairing, serving size is the right amount to fill you up. Also tried their tagliatelle with red pepper romesco and skirt steak, which was fresh and not an overwhelming pasta portion like I'm typically used to from any Italian place. Even in spite of the less than stellar service time, I'd love to comeback here and try out more of the menu, especially some of their steak options and get a chance to try out the dessert menu too!
