All I can say is WOW! I took my 1972 Beetle Convertible in because the side windows were out of alignment and missing all kinds of parts. Sunshine rebuilt the internal mechanisms on all four windows, replacing all the missing parts, etc.. The windows work like new, I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and the prices are reasonable too! I live in Southern California and tried several shops but couldn't find anyone who was either able or willing to handle this tedious job. Sunshine really came through. I only wish I lived closer so I could have all my work done there. read more

After having a couple expensive and frustrating experiences with the local VW Dealer (not naming names) while on vacation in Sarasota it was so refreshing to find a real VW mechanic. Ronnie helped us out with our 98 VW Cabrio when we were stranded even though he really only works on air-cooled. He found a couple other issues and fixed them while we were there. Their sign says "No VW should ever Die!" and they mean it. Our little car has never sounded or run any better. I would highly recommend Sunshine Auto to any VW owner. I spoke with the owner at the Dade city Volkswagen show, and all I've ever heard about him and his shop is that they do quality work and their rates are good. First let me say that I am new to the area but not new to classic VWs. I have always owned some sort of Bus or bug and my family had 5 at one time when I was young. Well after 35 years I am now back in with a 1970 Bus. I just got it and within days I brought it to SAG. I told them i was looking for a long relationship with the SAG and that I have plans to make several modifications to the bus but first it needed some TLC. They stepped right up and did all the items on my list and she runs amazing. I plan to take it back there several times in the next month for the open items such as new suspension. We have been very disappointed with the mechanical work done by Sunshine. Sunshine has a "vision" an constructs vehicles their way. We made it clear that we would be happy to invest in safety and reliability. Despite repeated requests for help, we ended up with a poorly functioning transmission, used parts, a mess of electrical work, etc. Their body work was good, but that's about it. read more

I drove 2700 miles from the west coast with my family in our 77 Volkswagen camper van to visit my home town, our family and friends and this supposedly great Volkswagen repair shop that was even in the local paper. They claim 30 years experience. I told them we just got a book published on our Volkswagen and our travels and we were on yet another cross country trip with our family. I wanted to stay ahead of our tired alternator and our tired tires and keep our family as safe as possible while not breaking down far from civilization. It looked like we were gonna catch a lucky break with this shop helping us. He said he could squeeze us in even though they were six months out for appointments. When it came time to drop off the vehicle my children and I were exposed to a yelling tirade on the phone reaming out one of their customers that wanted his 6000 dollars back from a Volkswagen they had just sold him. The language in front of my kids even caused them to doubt if this type of a person is who I should be trusting my vehicle to. I explained to them that that is just the way the world is and when you need help with a service you just have to pay and move on. So I was dropping the vehicle off. I had to come in and ask if it was ok because they made no attempt to talk with me or approach me. They would not give me anything in writing telling the agreement we came to with what was being done or that they received the car form me even. When I said well I need to be sure on the time estimate the manager said to me "Oh you are one of those who probably doesn't want to pay much" and such. So I asked him to at least verbally re tell me the quote and it came out to like 3 and a half hours to replace the alternator. I did not even want to ask about the tires because he really did not want to sell me those either even though they were sitting there. He wanted them for his vehicle and had to keep reordering them. He even said this is the forth time this has happened. So stock tires! I have seen an alternator replaced on this vehicle before my eyes and it can take les then a hour. I figured between that and the tires and the parts and labors he could make enough to warrant the time on his part and agreed to have him do it the day before. Now everything changed. So I knew he just did not want my business and wanted to see me gone but If I did stay he was just going to gauge me. I already had two visits and 2 hours invested in him so far so I took my keys back and left and count myself lucky. This is the first bad experience we have ever had with Volkswagen people. I strongly urge you not to go to this place and tell your friends. When money comes over decency of character something is wrong anywhere you go. When you are cussing up a storm in front of children and reaming past customers and not working with you, something is seriously off balance. Good bye. Beware. Anyone can smile and take your money. Rarely do you get the chance to see who they are inside. I was able to see it and boy I am just taking the time to let others know because Volkswagen people and just any people, deserve better. read more
