The walk was nice during the day, but we drove in at night since it was too dark. The main draw to this location was that it was only 2 blocks away from the Warren County Bikeway. Stewart's shops was down the block which was perfect for our ice cream and coffee fix. The stay itself was average. We arrived at 7pm and found no one in the office. We called the number and someone arrived promptly to check us in. Just concerned what would have happened if we did not have phone service. Turns out the staff was hard at work cleaning (they just finished cleaning the room). We found the Adirondack Lodge to be a good amount of space for 3 people and definitely would be ok for a couple more. The room was very clean. The fireplace area had a nice homey feel to it. We were expecting to find some plates, pots/pans and silverware, but we found none. Luckily we brought our favorite pan and spatula with us, so we just had to pick up some disposable plates and plastic ware to cook what we wanted. The comfort level of the mattresses were mixed. Mine was sufficient, but the others preferred the futon in the main area over the mattress. Staying here on a return trip depends on what is planned. If I wanted to use the bike path and do more outside of town activities, I might. However if more activities in town were planned I'd likely stay in a place there. Prices were competitive, so that is a factor too.

We've stayed here three times and always had a pleasant stay…read more PROS--the staff here is AMAZING. Everyone is so nice and quick to fix issues. We stayed in the motel area each time, but this year we had some problems (AC not working and key kept jamming and locking us out) but they were super responsive and offered to move us to a different motel room or upgrade to one of the cabins for the remainder of the stay. We moved to a cabin, so it was nice to test out both options. Both types of rooms are immaculately clean, comfortable, and have full kitchens. The location is convenient to be just outside of the bustle of the town, but about a 15-20min walk to the village or beach. It is on Route 9, but the rooms still seem very quiet. Cons--the only things I find slightly weird are that you have to bring your own towels and hand soap? Also, would be nice if the bedding looked like it had been updated in this century (dated polyester bed spreads just feel grungy no matter where you stay) some clean white comforters and sheets that can be easily cleaned/bleached would do the trick.

High ceilings, grand fireplace, cozy chairs and a nice pub and restaurant to enjoy breakfast/dinner in (separate review for those). The ladies who helped check us in were very sweet. We stayed on the 2nd floor in a room with 2 queen size beds, which were not the most comfortable. However, the bathroom had a very spacious shower and great water pressure! In the mornings on our floor they provide free coffee and tea. Since we also had some time in between wedding festivities, we went to the hotel pool and had a nice time. We had a wonderful stay and fun fact- the hotel turned 100 years old following the week we were there!

An absolute perfect location for our recent Fall weekend (and first!) trip to Saratoga, and…read moreunbeatable last minute rates. Cute, clean, and quirky, it's minimal on the trappings, but still manages to be warm and welcoming in all the ways that generally matter to how a place feels. I loved the center covered courtyard in this converted "roadside motor hotel," which felt like a communal living room, and also a perfect place to pull out the laptop and get some work done or just hang out and read, including some of the interesting art books made available in the space. That space is a bonus if it rains... you can hear the rain falling on the interior courtyard! Only thing we didn't do that we should have was to grab a bottle a wine from the very nearby wine store, bring it back to the "living room," and enjoy that rain a little more! Past the free coffees and tea, the place is spartan, but by design, in a very clean, crisp, and intentional way. It still fully pulls off "cozy" in all the ways. It definitely feels "design-y,' but without ANY pretention. Coming and going, were always greeted by every staff member with smiles, genuinely making us feel welcome every time we walked through the door. Free parking might be just an off-season perk, but a great one, and we never had an issue even when our late-ish arrival on a Saturday night meant we had to use the (also free!) parking garage adjacent to the hotel. If it's just one or two of you, don't be put off by the Micro Queen! It still gets the job done, as it's still incredible cozy. The biggest benefit is location, location, location! STEPS away from restaurants, shops, and bars, all right on the "main drag." And even given its location, street-facing rooms are very quiet. Could use some more clothes/towel hooks and a place to put a second suitcase, a slightly warmer LED in the bathroom, and even just a recirculating fan in their as well wouldn't be unwelcome. We would have loved to have access to streaming TV. But these are all minor dings on what was a lovely stay, at this unique property that I'd love to see flourish. It was a great home base, and I didn't want to leave. We'll also now be on the lookout for more properties in the Lark portfolio... when we're not back at the Bluebird!

My stay at Bluebird Spa City Motor Lodge in August 2026 was one of the worst hotel stays I have…read moreexperienced. First, the positive--the staff was friendly. They were not always as helpful or forthcoming as I would have preferred, but at least they were friendly. The motel is also within walking distance of at least one museum and park, as well as lots of good-quality restaurants. So that was a plus. Now for the bad: 1. Check-in: Check-in was scheduled for 4 p.m. We got there around 2:45 and were told our room would be available in about 15-20 minutes. We returned around 3:30. It was not ready then, and we were again told it would be ready soon. However, it was not ready until about 4:30. While they were under no obligation to provide early check-in, they should have given us accurate information. In addition, no explanation or apology was given for the delayed check-in. 2. Parking: We were charged for parking without this being disclosed beforehand, and much of the parking was in a lot in another building. As best I could tell, the website was silent on whether parking was provided, so I should have asked, and they should have disclosed the charge up front. When I raised this at the front desk, I basically got a shrug and a "sorry." Also, since one point of a "Motor Lodge" is that you can drive up to your room and park, it seems incongruous that you would (a) have to pay to park and (b) have to park in a garage in another building. 3. Cleaning chemicals: The room really stank of cleaning chemicals. It gave my wife and me headaches and triggered what I think was an asthma attack that lasted over a week. While we could open a window, there were no screens, so this was not a good option, especially when we left the room. It still smelled of cleaning chemicals later that evening when we got back from dinner, although the smell had somewhat dissipated by the following day. (In anticipation of a response that I should have mentioned this to management, I would say that the people I spoke to were not helpful. It didn't seem like they had any spare rooms, since they could not get ours ready on time, and I had no confidence that they would give us a room that didn't have the same issue.) Edit: I stayed at another hotel a few weeks later, without an ill effects, so I don't think I ajm especially sensitive to chemical smells 4. Noise: The roof in the atrium was really loud, as was our room. Someone (I think Staff) told me the reason for the noise in the atrium was that it had a plastic roof and that the noise was caused by the wind. I'm not sure if that was the issue in the room, which sounded like it had a broken refrigerator running. 5. Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was horrible. I could connect, but I never got a decent signal, so it was not usable. I tried this on multiple devices, including wiping out the prior connection and starting over. Although some hotels give you a welcome screen where you need to accept their terms and conditions to get the Wi-Fi to work, nothing like this popped up. 6. Room amenities: The place has cheap plastic cups in the washroom. Considering how much they charge, they should use something nicer, such as real glass. The water pressure in the shower was also pretty weak. 7. Coffee: The first morning I stayed there, they had two nearly empty carafes of coffee and no hot coffee. This was about 7 or 7:30 a.m. Attention to detail, folks! They did have a carafe of decaf, but I didn't try that. 8. 4:30 a.m. wake-up: I received a text around 4:30 a.m. welcoming me to the motel. Apparently, this was a system error, but it was annoying, especially given the other issues. 9. No spa and no bluebirds--only kidding about that being an issue.

The room was spotless, beautiful, and clean. It had all antique furniture, which was all functional and worked without any signs of decay. The bed was wonderfully made, and nothing was out of place during our stay. The television and air-conditioning worked as intended. I attempted to take a shower mid-Tuesday afternoon. After turning on the hot water, I waited a good few minutes for the hot water to actually heat up. Not really anyone's fault; it just took a while. We were on the third floor of an older building - this was fine. The next morning, when I attempted to shower again, the hot water arrived quicker, but when trying to turn the heat down, it took a while. So, the heat in the shower is slow to respond. The staff were amazing. Justin, who resides on the grounds of the inn, was an awesome person who had answers and kindness to every situation that arose. My wife recently became disabled (getting her to the third floor was a bit of work); Justin asked if we wanted breakfast to be brought to her, instead of her coming down. We declined that, she would want to dine in the main dining hall. He was great with suggestions, super courteous, and overall awesome. When we had breakfast the morning of the 24th, Chad was the gentleman taking our order. He was a great person who regaled us with stories, gave us a good laugh, and made sure our orders were correct (wife is also allergic to dairy). He absolutely made the experience better, even if we were at the very tail end of our stay there. The breakfast was excellent; we both ended up eating a sausage breakfast bowl with salsa, bacon, and eggs (I had cheese on mine). Delicious. This is a clean, professional bed and breakfast that is worth returning to.

The outside grounds and swimming pool area are welcoming and cozy. The sprawling sunporch out front was a relaxing place to unwind with a beverage! Actually on a score of 1 to 10 I'd rate Union Gables a 15! Every detail inside the Inn looked like it was furnished with tender loving care. The room we stayed in was called Edward, it was spacious and beautifully appointed with lovely period furniture, linens and vintage art work! The fireplace although it was too warm during our stay to enjoy it, was a really nice touch! We made time to enjoy the Inn's complementary breakfast every morning, it was delicious and made to order. In my opinion it was a delightful way to start our day! It was hard not to enjoy breakfast surrounded by antique furnishings, beautiful window treatments, lovely art work, lace tablecloths, floral arrangements... even the flatware was beautiful! IF you love all things vintage and classy, you've got to check this place out! We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Justin, who could not have been more helpful or kind assisting us throughout our stay. Our breakfast was made by Chad most mornings and was a delicious way to start our day! He happily shared his knowledge of the area which was helpful! Last but not least Sarah from housekeeping was pleasant, attentive and helpful. She kept our room immaculate the entire week we were there. Truthfully, it was a fabulous visit and vacation. The location of Union Gables Inn is walking distance to the Saratoga Racetrack which was great fun, blocks from museums and minutes by car to shopping and lots of various pubs & restaurants. I highly recommend you check out this perfectly appointed Mansion called Union Gables Inn. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!

Went to stay here on our honeymoon for an elevated stay experience. I stay at Marriot properties…read moreover 20 times per year, and had high hopes. Unfortunately, what I got was not an elevated experience. We chose this hotel because it was newer, had amenities, and seemed elevated. At check in, we were told we are required to pay $30/day for an amenity fee. Okay got it, this place maybe has some elevated amenities. The key amenity we were looking forward to enjoying was the sauna. After changing and going down to the sauna the next day, we learned it was out of order, and was not going to be working for the rest of our stay. We spoke to the front desk to see what the hotel could do (cover the cost of using an off-site sauna, offer a partial refund, etc), but the front desk said all they could do was take a note for the manager. After not hearing from the manager the next day, we went back to the front desk to a different worker, and got the same response. "We can't do anything, all we can do is let the manager know". Days have gone by and I still have not heard from the manager, despite follow ups. The whole stay wasn't bad, but we were paying $110 per night over an equivalent Marriot property for amenities that were out of order, and in one case "out of stock".
