Snarky employees, poorly trained in CX. I stopped in at 5:54 pm knowing they did not close until 6:00 pm. I had a small used plumbing part in my hand and knew I just need to go in, match the size and color to what they have on display on wall hooks, checkout and leave. As got out of my vehicle near the front door . . . again, at 5:54 pm . . . an employee who was wheeling products sitting outside on the sidewalk into the store said they are closing. I showed him the used part I had in my hand and said I just need to run in and grab it off a wall hook display, purchase it and leave. He emphasized their need to close. Another customer drove up after me and parked next to me, then entered Sunwest True Value behind me. I ignored the snarky employee, went to the plumbing section, could not find what I needed in the size and color I needed and began leaving at 5:56 pm. Instead, when I turned around the snarky employee who was closing the store at 5:54 pm was behind me. He had followed me. I explained they did not have what I needed, therefore I said I need to get out of here because they close at 6:00 pm. The snarky employee instead insisted on looking at what I had and began searching on the wall hooks for the part I needed. I reminded him the store is closing at 6:00 pm, they do not have the part that I need, so I need to leave. He said, 'Well, I'm here to help you'. I explained they do not have it, reminded him they close at 6:00 pm, but he still insisted. So I stood there while he searched the same display I had just searched. He turned around and said to me they do not have what I need. He followed me back to the front door telling me where I can alternatively go find the part that I needed somewhere else or something like that. As I walked by the cashier, the customer that arrived after me had also already found what they came for, was paying for it and then exited out behind me. I was pleased I was able to at least distract the snarky employee so the other customer could get in to get what he needed without being lectured the entire time like I was. I'll be curious to see if this True Value franchisee is able to survive based on 1) the way they communicate with their customers, plus 2) selling enough volume by closing earlier than their posted closing times. They should at least post their true closing time of 5:54 pm, instead of misleading people by posting 6:00 pm as their closing time. read more

They are quite helpful finding items I needed to buy that were on their sale flyer. I was very happy with the sales associate.

I placed an order for 3 large sun screens, after being promised they would ready in 3 weeks. After 8 weeks, several phone calls, 3 visits, and a ton of excuses, I finally canceled the order. This place is expensive to start with, they should be better at service. They certainly have a lot of variety when it comes to excuses and poor service. I won't be back. read more

I walked in and wow, I was greeted by ladies behind the registers with hi, welcome and everyone one of them had a smile!!! I was looking for an outdoor fireplace that they had. I was so excited they had it. I asked if they did and they said yes right out front. Another store told me I had to wait until the filled the rain checks. I thought no I am going here. I purchased a scale I needed and some other things I didn't need. The store had so much to offer and the prices were great so I didn't have to go out to different stores. I do not shop here too often as I used to when we had a Green Egg, but it is a handy hardware store to have if you live in the area. They employees are always friendly and thry go out of their way to help you. They offer a lot of odds and ends, yet they are still very organized. They used to have the Green Egg in the tiniest size I got a kick out of but it wasn't there this visit. A handy place to fill your propane tanks as well. read more

While in the middle of a project last night we realized we were missing some vital screws to finish. Our local hardware store was closed at a ridiculously early time and Sunwest True Value was the closest location that had what we needed and was still open. The location was so easy to access and everyone working was very friendly. The store was very clean and organized which made it easy to find what we needed. We were in and out in under 20 minutes. The store is trying to accuse me of damaging their U-Haul when I checked in with the rep, who verified the vehicle and issued me a final receipt with no mention of damage. The owner refuses to return my calls now. They altered my receipt 2 days later, made up a time and date of an "accident" and made up a story that I backed into something. I've rented from U-Haul 30 times over the last 2 years with no incidents, and have a final receipt from this return confirming no damage. I'm having to now take them to court to fight this. What a total waste of time. Absolutely no help from ownership. This store should be ashamed of themselves! Do yourself a favor and stay far far away! read more

This deserves more 5 stars on the means of impeccable customer service & very kind, helpful employees. The four stars is due to some sections lacking in variety/choice. But, it is a smaller store for a smaller area that generally patrons aren't seeking more complex, so it makes sense. I will say it is extremely convenient on a last-minute-need-something whim! The employees are truly outstanding. Extremely helpful- they will literally track down anything & everything in that store for you if you ask. I was extremely grateful to the gentleman who helped me locate all of the multiple items I was seeking on the visit. Plus, I stopped to have several keys made- which took less than 10 minutes. They ALL worked, first try. Totally a step up from other local competitors who manage to severely botch keys. While I was a bit let down I did not find one or two specific items I was looking for, as a smaller store probably won't carry the mass variety/selection a big box retailer will, it didn't ruin the visit. I still found majority of what I was seeking, & the most crucial of the items. Total win, in my book, for last minute stop! I was also a bit distracted by noticing the various selection of what they DO carry & offer at the location. I really had no idea I could have been visiting this store sooner for some indoor/outdoor needs just down the road- there was a decent amount of a little something for everything. And, I sincerely appreciated what is similar to the row of Target $1 bins as you walk in... found some great little goodies that will definitely come in handy! read more

This place does not offer military discounts yet they say they do!!! Oh but what they don't tell you is until you get to the register that the particular item you are purchasing does not qualify for a discount.. i.e like potting soil and yet the same size bag of soil was priced lower than Home Depot and Military get a 10% discount on ALL items in the store. If this franchisee of True Value needs to play these games with pricing what else are they pulling on us senior veteran citizens. The rudeness of the group of ladies standing around doing nothing didn't help. They actually laughed at me when I said I would never shop there again?? The arrogant attitude of some of these employees id outrageous.. Also there literally must have been at least 12 employees on duty and yet i had to find someone to help me. This is the most helpful hardware store I have ever been too. We purchased a rather large object and they offered to deliver it for free. We have been a customer of Sunwest True Value since we moved into Sun City Grand 2 1/2 years ago. There are other hardware stores that are closer, but we like the service and friendliness of Sunwest True Value. We are looking at replacing our grill and they took a lot of time to show us the other brands they carry. We still haven't decided between the Big Green Egg and Traeger, but when we do we will purchase it from Sunwest True Value. Unhelpful. Poor stock. Walked out. All I wanted was a roller piece (standard equipment) for a standard toilet paper holder . . . as the one in my guest room flies into three parts when I change the TP roll; i.e., both ends + the spring. I asked if there was any way I could be assured that the one I had selected from their stock would not also fly open. I was told, "They're all the same," in such an utterly disinterested manner that I simply walked out. This store is three minutes from our home, so it's a handy location . . . but from now on I'll drive the extra few miles to the competitors. read more
