The people there are pleasant enough, but it seems as though they're overworked. There are deals to be found there, but I haven't had very good luck: the vast majority of off-brand power tools seem to break easily, don't last very long, and they all have one thing in common: made in China: I purchased a compressor and the tank; its replacement couldn't reach the pressure needed for my power tools; its replacement had a bad pressure gauge; its replacement had an electrical short in the motor. With each of these failures, I had to make a 103-mile round trip. Truly exasperating. Stay with the name brands... if you can find them. I had almost the same experience with a lawn mower purchased there; similarly, with a gas-engine leak blower; and with a backpack type gas-powered sprayer. Basic tools are worth buying, but I've had a couple of sockets strip or wear out much too quickly. read more

The guys here working are so courteous and professional to everyone. The store is always clean and organized. Brandon the supervisor went above and beyond for us. My husband had ordered something for a corporate job. He was notified via email as soon as it arrived to the location. They also help bring heavy items to your vehicle if needed. read more

Harbor freight surprise AZ I don't know my way around a hardware store, I was looking for foam pads that link together, one sales lady told me where to look, I still didn't find them. Sara, a new employee, only there 5 days showed me exactly what I needed and went out of her way to help me and even helped put them in my car! As I was checking out the cashier rang me up, my phone number wasn't in their system so she kept ringing up my sale. Sara, the new employee told her that I had to have a phone number in the system in order to return them, just in case, without a phone number you can't return. I'm not sure what I was expecting to be honest. Came in looking for a small organizer for my Diamond art painting drills but had a hard time locating it. Small store. Very busy yesterday. I couldn't locate anyone to assist me. No greeting when I entered the store. One very big positive that I noticed is signs are bilingual, one side is English & the other Spanish. Interesting place. I went with my husband in here because he wanted to see if they had a certain size socket. Unfortunately they didn't sell individual ones. We walked around and seen tools, a lot of different stuff anything from fixing cars to your house. It's not very big but does have some things you might not find at your other hardware stores. read more

I purchased an item they would only give me a store credit back because I did not have my receipt, and this item was garbage that should not have been sold to the public. Other stores such as Home Depot use your credit card that were purchased with this card to return items. This store does not do that without a receipt. Even though the item was only two days old, and returned, and was of very poor quality. I advised them I would never shop at that store again, or any others of theirs, and they still would not refund to my card. They will never receive my business again. read more

Purchased a battery charger here bought a one year warranty used it one time four months out of the warrantee original condition in the box and absolutely no customer service refused to replace it I get it that it was out of the warranty but a $59 battery charger should last more than one use never buy anything from these guys I've purchased thousands of dollars of tools from them this is the third time I've purchased a warranty for one year only to have it go out in 13, 14 or 17 months only to have a break and never be replaced not even less than 30 days out of warranty They just lost a customer that has purchased thousands of dollars worth of items from them Rudy did not even offer to let me speak with management he just said sorry you're out of luck read more

I love my Harbor Freight Tools here in Portage. The staff is always 100% helpful and they have found the perfect blend of attention without over attention. There's nothing worse than going in to browse for the tools I can't possibly live without and being made to feel like I'm being overwhelmed. I learned that because their inventory turnover is so fast that there may be things in-stock that they haven't gotten to the floor yet. Always ask and if they don't have it, they'll tell you who does or when they will likely have back in stock. read more

It's a fun place to look around and if you're lucky to find something you can really use, that's where the hill starts, super slow check out process and when you finally do get there if there's an issue as there was today miss priced item I had two options I was quickly given pay the price that she said or cancel the order altogether and leave. This is seriously one of the best Harbor Freight's in the Valley. This isn't my local one but if I'm ever in the area and have been meaning to make a HF run, I make a point to hit this location up. I cannot tangibly explain what it is -- the layout and stock is the exact same as every other one -- but it's like the lines move faster here. Or it's clean. Or the restrooms are alway stocked. This is a great place if you need a specific tool or just want to load up. The quality varies depending on what you want to buy. Remember that like with most things, it comes from China. I've had tools break on me from here and they don't have any guarantees like Sears, but who shops at Sears anymore? read more

I usually buy a lot of tools at Harbor Freight, but after this last experience I'll just start ordering online. I received a 15% off any item coupon in my email. While trying to use it John stated it was only for tools. His reasoning behind this being that it advertised you could use it on their higher end tools. I was using it on a regular item. He wouldn't even scan it at first and see if it was declined. While trying to show him that in the fine print is stated any item(of course with their list of exceptions). He actually reached out and put his hands on my phone to try and zoom out. Please don't touch my phone or attempt to that is not okay. He also argued with the previous customer about the same thing. The only way he would scan it was to "prove me wrong." Told him it wasn't that big of a deal, but regardless of the images of the tools the coupon clearly states "any one item." How about you scan the coupon, and if it doesn't go though then polity tell the customer "I'm sorry the coupon didn't work on that item." Trying to scan it to prove a customer is wrong is really bad customer service. read more

This location has items on display that are not for sale, they have items that are for sale but those have a 5 months waiting period. Horrible business, Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot may be a bit more but they will have what you need to keep working plus better quality. The pros know! read more

First review of this location but have visited it numerous times. Went in to buy some ac gauges and as always used the 20 percent off and free item coupons with out issue. The only issue I have ever had at this or any harbor freight location is being able to get help sometimes or only one or two cashiers open when its busy. Overall I like the quality of the tools, I have bought compressors, ratchets, impact wrenches and all do the job and last the time you would expect for the price you pay. The free or cheaper stuff is what it is but will do the job and do come in handy as long as you don't treat it like its a snap on tool. The staff is always pleasant even when they are busy and I will continue to shop here for my everyday tools. read more

This is a "bait and switch " outfit. I recommend you read the ultra fine print on the 20% Off coupons they mail you or you see in the gun magazines. There are 39 exclusions! They even use a confusing terminology. You are trying to get an item that is "restricted". And finally, don't waste your time complaining to them. They make that difficult at every step and in the end "They Don't Care". I won't be tricked by this again. Walmart and Home Depot have most of this stuff without the deception! read more

Against my better judgement (and due tp price) I ordered an electric miter saw from harbor freight. I didn't use it for several months then was going to try. I attempted to install a brand new blade (kind of a pain in the a$$ with this saw, and the guard broke off. I haven't actually used the saw so I wrote HF. They actually responded by sending me a link, from youtube, on how to use the saw. You need a cheap screwdriver, buy it here, how do you screw up a screwdriver? Power tools? Buy real ones. read more

Horrible customer service... Is there any management at this place? I've been to this location three or four times and each time the wait to check out is excruciating long.
