I only had one breakfast burrito here and I had it to go, so my review is for the burrito only. It seems like the place would be a nice authentic Mexican restaurant to sit down and have one of their favorable reviewed meals. I got the machaca burrito, and it was not like the machaca I imagined based on past experiences. To me, machaca is seasoned, shredded meat, beef or chicken. The A's version is finely chopped steak, moist from the cooking sauce, my rather chewy and not flavorful. The rest of the ingredients were fine and the burrito was rather filling. On the scale of 50-100%, where 50 is still hungry and 100 means can't finish in one sitting, it's an 80. With a different choice of meat then burrito could have been a bigger hit, but they don't have sausage as a choice, and I'm not a fan of bacon or chorizo. read more

My buddy and I had a very good experience here this past weekend, both with service and the food. We saw this place driving by and figured by the look from the outside they should have some authentic and good tasting Mexican food.....we weren't let down. When we got inside I will admit I thought it was a bit chaotic and loud but that's because they did have a packed house and they were showing all of the football games on the TV's (they even had soccer playing); I would say there were about 10 TV's from what I was able to see. We sat at the bar and was greeted by an older gentleman who made us the best tasting blended margaritas I've had in a while. They weren't like the normal house margaritas that taste like you just grabbed the mix and took a sip out of it straight! After we order our drinks he brought us some fresh chips (they were still warm) and some amazing tasting salsa (it was jam packed with flavor and even had a little kick to it!). We order a side of guacamole to go with the chips and salsa and upon taking my first bit of the guac I was in shock. It tasted so fresh that it threw me off for a second, you were even able to tell that they added fresh lemon juice to it and had nice chunks of avocado, tomato's, and onions. After hanging out watching the Raiders get destroyed by the Bills (will always be a Raider fan though!) we order our food; I order the veggie burrito wet style, no cheese or sour cream, and a side of rice. The food came out in a fairly quick manner even though they were very busy and my first take of the burrito was it was a good portion and I really liked that they smothered the burrito in their green sauce (the waiter recommended green over red for a veggie burrito). The green salsa was very good; as for the burrito I was really happy to see that they just packed in a bunch of guacamole into it. Besides the guac the veggie burrito also contained lettuce, tomato's, rice, and beans. It was pretty filling and of course tasted great; I do wish though that maybe they would have added a little more variety of veggies (bell peppers, sautéed onions, etc) but I'm not complaining! My buddy order the lengua wet burrito and he said the meat was seasoned and cook to perfection and he demolished his burrito within seconds! All in all I would say that Super A's should be on someone's radar if they're looking for an overall solid Mexican food spot. read more

Really enjoyed my experience here! The server was so helpful -- both my boyfriend and I were indecisive, so we basically asked his opinion about what we should get. He even gave my boyfriend a sample of mole so that he could decide which of the enchiladas he should get! My boyfriend even wanted to change his order, and the waiter was so accommodating. I ordered the Burrito Norteño (per the waiter's recommendation) with carnitas as my choice of meat and it was fantastic! I was so happy with it. The carnitas were nice and tender, and there was a lot of meat. I was definitely satisfied but wasn't over-full. The only thing that might bother some people is that there was some loudness/profanity at the bar with people watching a game. It didn't bother me so much, but I can imagine this is not so much a "family" kind of setting. Overall, definitely will return in the future! read more

Delicious food, great prices, and wonderful service! I walked in and ordered takeout on a weekday around lunchtime. The employee was patient and helpful as I tried to figure out what to order. Restaurant is following safety protocols with masks and glass barriers/fields. I waited in my car after I ordered, and the employee was kind enough to bring my food out to me! He included extra salsa and chips too. The nacho fries and tacos were terrific! The portions were big and great for the price. Everything was fresh, hot, and yummy! Hey folks! I'm giving super As two stars just because it's hilarious. If you want to think outside the box with your kraft single slices go here and take a peak at the menu. They throw those suckers on top of everything. I was honestly getting tired of just putting kraft American singles on burgers but super As has inspired me to put it on everything . Also they draw a fine line between salsa and marinara sauce which i think is beautiful. It's as if a Mexican and an Italian made love and the after sauce was their salsa. But really this place is hilarious because the menus is a riot and the staff is funny. I'm here in town for work travels and found this spot nearby the hotel I'm staying at. This is a very good Mexican restaurant with awesome attentive customer service. I had the Burrito Poblano with carne asada which had an amazing mole sauce! Super flavorful! I'm from San Diego and even some restaurants there does not taste as good as Super A's! One of my most favorite Mexican restaurants. There's fish I wouldn't eat here. My wife and I like coming Saturday's for the Menudo. Food taste fresh and never stale. They start you off with fresh ships with salsa and a tiny bowl of frojoles wut cheese. Love the salsa. Happy hour is from 3-6 Monday- Friday. They have fruit drinks and one I'd the best kids menu. I've tried the enchiladas, Chile relleno, and civeche... all were good. They do have very tasty beans and while you wait they serve chips with salsa and a side of those yummy beans. First, let me vent. Any review that disputes the other reviewers taste and intelligence should be discounted immediately. I did not flunk my SAT, my GRE, or my LSAT for that matter. Had a 12:00 P.M. flight out of SNA back home to Northern Calif. and decided to revisit one of my favorites, Super Antojitos, for a good Mexican breakfast. My remembrance of this place when I lived in the area, was a good solid Mexican restaurant. It has not changed. Ordered huevos divorciados. This literally means divorced eggs, one with green sauce and the other with red served with chiliquiles, beans, and rice. Wow, they blew my socks off! The chiliquiles were the epitome of what chiliquiles should be. After a breakfast yesterday at another establishment where the beans were, well Yuck!, these beans were perfection. The chips where obviously made on site and came heaping full in the basket. The owner came over to our table after we finished to inquire how we enjoyed our meal. He explained that the former Super Antijitos Chain is now actually completely independent from one another. He has been running this S.A. since the 1980's. He said his wife brought the huevos divoriados recipe from Guadalajara. You won't find them in many other restaurants. Try them!!!! You will fall in love!!!!!!!! read more

I've come here before after venturing to ikea. I ordered the two cheese enchilada combination, nothing worth noting however. I think they "marinate" the tortillas in the enchilada sauce then wrap it, rather than rolling the enchilada and pouring sauce on top. I remember telling myself I will not be returning but of course, I'm back for a second time. My husband ordered the two taco combination with barbacoa meat, he enjoyed it the first time around. The shredded beef was well seasoned and was drenched in their red sauce. He ordered it again this time but there were lots of fatty pieces so he was picking at it most of the time. Today I tried the chorizo and egg breakfast plate, it was good, but definitely not worth the drive out. **UPDATE** I used the restroom before I left and was thoroughly disgusted. I wished I would have needed to use the restroom prior to eating. There were gnats crawling on the toilet seat. Gross. And there were dead gnats all around the sinker. Grosser. I remember coming here a couple of months ago. Me and my friends had a house party in Costa Mesa and we were ALL hungover, and the only thing that sounded good after a night of partying was soup. We walked over to this Mexican restaurant and my friend Angelica said that this place has the perfect cure for our hangovers. She said it was a soup called "pozole".....WOW, after scarfing down this cure for the common hangover, i was ready to party again!! ...NOT! j/k. It hit the spot though... Angelica tells me that they only serve it on the weekend. I wonder why? hmm...my guess is that they know people get smashed mostly on the weekends. I must be crazy. Over the weekend I ate like a pig, but I was still craving the fried tilapia. I just had to come. I think I pretty much gave up watching my weight. It was a 15-20 min wait but we were ok with it but they offered us the bar area and it was only two of us so we took it so we didn't have to wait which was cool. The key to coming to this place and getting good service and great food is to bring a Mexican. Everytime when I come alone and make a horrible attempt to order in Spanish, I get the wrong order, cold food and definitely the stink eye from the guy writing down my order. Hes like a hardcore Chivas soccer fan, so anytime when you are ordering, you are interrupting his game. Anyway, when I did bring a Mexican. I was able to get the best tasting carne asada burrito in a long time. The prices are very reasonable. I payed little over $6 for my burrito. The horchata sometimes tastes a bit watery. on my first visit, friend and I tried a wet asada burrito with red sauce and carnitas plate. both were greatly sized so obviously we had plenty for another meal. before going, many reviews complained that the carnitas had too much fat but clearly, these reviews are wrong. there was fat but that's what carnitas are for!! the plate had a moundful of carnitas, yummy rice and beans, and a little salad/greens. wet burrito was a little too salty for me but once again, also a great big portion. i wish the burrito also had rice and beans but thats ok! second visit was for taco tuesday. they serve $1.40 tacos (asada, carnitas, al pastor, chile verde, and two more im forgetting), $2 tecate, and $3 margaritas. tried one of each tacos and they're regular sized street tacos with generous meat. all tacos were delicious!! i ordered a margarita that never made it to the table but when the check came, it wasn't charged so i'm sure our waiter too notice. service is friendly, fast and efficient. we sat at the restaurant side both times but there is a more bar-style side and the first time they had loud music playing - perhaps i'll make a pre-game stop one of these days! read more

The locals and locally sponsored baseball teams call this place "Super A's". Siri calls it "navigate to nearest hole-in-the-wall Mexican food." And that's a compliment. I wanted something not formal but fun, and not franchisey but unique. Super A's fit the bill. This place almost looks like an old Denny's with the booth and bar set up. Service upon entry was with a smile and friendly. I was to-go'ing it but wouldn't mind dining in if it meant a hot plate and a nice large horchata. My first sight was the piles of chips under the heating lamp... and that always puts a smile to anyone's eyes. -=-Beef Taquitos-=- Standard and crispy. They toss in guac and sour cream in there like all the other places do. Nothing significant to report, but it is on par. -=-Al Pastor Burrito-=- Wasn't a fan of the meat in this. Spit pork is usually not as oily as Super A's had it, so I got meated out after finishing my burrito. Also, the sear was pretty charred on every bite of this. I typically don't like my al pastor this way, but I guess to each his own. Not my preference. -=-Carne Asada Burrito-=- More shredded than cubed for the meat in this one. It was quite delicious also. The steak was thin cut and charred the same way that the Al Pastor was, but was a lot tastier. I enjoyed this tremendously. Next time I'd probably get this with all meat. The beans were layed in there pretty thick, but for the pieces of carne that I tasted, it was delicious. read more

First off the food sucks! Don't ever order the camarones a la diabla, they'll only give you 4 shrimps for $16! They're lettuce was still frozen and had ice on it... Second of all, the service was horrible! Never in my life have I ever experienced service like that! We complained when there was a mistake on the receipt once we received our tab and the owner started to go off on us and told us that he had the right to not serve us. That was so disrespectful in my point of view, I work retail and regardless of any situation, the customer is ALWAYS right! I understand that customers can be irritable but you should never be rude or go off on them. I suggest you save your money and go to some other Mexican restaurant, like Mariscos Hector (great place). My daughter and I were looking for a place to grab some good tasting and reasonably priced Mexican food late one day last week. We stumbled upon this place and we were certainly glad we did! We walked in the door and waited to be seated. It took a couple of minutes for someone to finally tell us to sit wherever we wanted, but they finally did and we grabbed a booth. We both ordered burritos and they were absolutely delicious! My daughter had the Burrito Californiano and I ordered the a la carte carnitas burrito. We were both delightfully surprised at how tasty they were. Once we were seated, both people that helped us were super friendly and very attentive. The only downside was the music was so loud that my daughter and I could not carry on a conversation. Still the servers were very friendly and the food was great! read more
