Service is friendly. Quite honestly not my favorite. I'm surprised Rubios has better fish tacos than this restaurant! I paid $10 for 1 fish taco that consisted of 3 small fish sticks (probably frozen fish sticks) and pico de gallo. The salsa they serve with chips is spicy but bland. They serve good drinks. I should of heeded the reviews. Honestly.. im writing this before I get sick. No flavor in the meat, lemon and salt are your friends... the "jugo de piña" we ordered tasted fermented like kombucha... like.. rotted. The chips de asada was my last option. They were out of fish, and shrimp. Like HOW!?! Anyways.. its flavorless. As a mexican.. this is sad. The reviews dont lie. Its basically a dive bar/restaurant. The locals here are just drunk workers whom have nowhere else to go. They tip the waitresses because its basically them sweet talking them and being drunk. Shrimp cocktails were mid. Just didn't like the ambiance, bunch of weirdos in there seemed like i was at a club or something.

You step out of a strip mall in Costa Mesa and step into a little town somewhere in Mexico. You don't even have to fly or go to the airport to lose yourself in an authentic Mexican joint full of flavors of Mexico and music and atmosphere unique to this magical country. We decided to visit this place on a Friday night after basketball practice and the place was pretty packed with a few empty tables. There is a live DJ that is blasting Mexican music very loudly and also have karaoke going on TV which the patrons get involved every 10 minutes or so from their tables. Menu is expansive. A little on the pricy side but hey you are next to Newport Beach and a mile from the water so it is to be expected. I ordered their shrimp burrito and my son ordered the #3 which is a grilled shrimp special. He devoured every bit of his plate that was accompanied by rice and beans and salad and tortilla. My burrito was the size of Newport pier. It was very full and wet. The flavour was just ok but I was a bit disappointed and had to add quite bit of salsa and habanero sauce to kick it up but managed to only eat half of it. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. My wife ordered beef soup (Caldo de res). She didn't finish her soup and so we asked them to put it in a take out container. She left a good portion of her soup including plenty of beef in the soup bowl. When we got home, we noticed that they did not include the beef and had taken it all out! I can't beleive they went out of their way to do that. We were very dissapointed to see this. Maybe it explains why they took so long to bring back the take out container. Venimos con mi familia a NewPort Beach a divertirnos un poco y disfrutar con familia... terminando en la playa mi mama tenia antojo de una mojarra frita asi que buscamos restaurantes de mariscos y encontramos este lugar estaba lleno, nos sentaron y la muchacha que era muestra mesera tomo nuestra orden que era un clamato preparado, una horchata, y una agua de piña.. Para empezar el clamato preparado cuando lo trajo estaba a mitad de vaso y le pregunte a la muchacha si eso era todo?! Y me dijo "ah no le falta mas" y se lo llevo para atras y lo trajo de volada y le dije esto es el "clamato preparado"?! Y me dijo que para ellos el clamato preparado era solo clamato con limon y el vaso escarchado. Me trajeron despues lo mismo pero en una copa y como ven en la foto estaba a la mitad ni llena la copa. Y el agua de piña de mi mama estaba bien porosa y no tenia sabor a nada entonces le dijo a la mesera eso y le dijo si queria otra cosa asi que le dijo si queria agua de jamaica y cuando llego , llego con una agua de tamarindo y le dije que mi mama habia ordenado una agua de jamaica no de tamarindo y solo me volteo los ojos y mi mama le dijo que asi estaba bien. Y la "agua de tamarindo" tampoco tenia sabor ni mucho menos sabor a tamarindo... y en la foto como pueden ver hasta se separaba ... Asi que ya no dijimos nada .... despues regresa la mesera a tomar nuestra orden y le damos nuestras ordenes y noto que ella no apunta nada ni traia una libreta ... y esperamos mucho tiempo y decidimos decirle al dueño que ya nos vamos que mejor cansele la orden y el dijo coman y les hare descuento por esperar tanto y no les cobrare las segundas bebidas .... Entonces como ya habia salido la comida decidimos quedarnos y comer ... pero nos salio horriblemente desabrida TODA la comida ... ya mejor ni nos comimos toda la comida porque estaba tan mal ni sal tenia ...lo unico que estaba rico fue la sprite mexicana de bote que me dieron... y el dueño se porto muy bien con nosotros, pero la mesera. horible servicio.. no me quedaron ganas de regresar... read more

You couldn't pay me enough to eat here! For starters, the owner/manager is extremely rude, and the customer service is horrible. The bathroom is filthy, no paper towels and when I asked for napkins to dry my hands the owner/manager proceeded to catch an attitude.The food is whatever and to be honest the only thing positive about this restaurant is the 1 waitress who I feel is extremely under valued and definitely needs a raise working under that kind of management. The restaurant is very clean. We ordered tacos and a shrimp cocktail, both had great flavor and were priced fairly. The food came out hot and fresh. I came earlier today for the fish ceviche and it looked very questionable. It looked old and dry but I was on my lunch break so I decided to add a bunch of lime and get on with it. It tasted okay. But $15 for a small bowl was definitely not worth it. As my day started to end, I began to feel very weak and sweaty. I vomited all of the ceviche and now I have food poisoning. Then I ordered Chili Relleno with rice and beans. The cheese stunk and tasted funky. The rice was tangy and not right, the beans were lumpy not smooth. Would not recommend /: I ordered two shrimp tacos and had to order rice and beans separately which came out to be almost $30. When they finally came the tacos literally had nothing on them (no sauce or anything) and barely had any shrimp. I asked if they had any crema for the tacos and they just brought me sour cream which they charged me $3 for. Everything was also unseasoned and bland. I went with a couple friends and they all did not like their meal. To top it off the waitress was rude when we told her she got one of our orders wrong (she never wrote it down). Delicious food and drinks were flowing all nite!! BEST ceviche in town, chicken/beef fajitas, handmade tortillas, spicy shrimp, rice and beans . Enrique makes a yummy Michelado!! NO hangover today . Came here for a quick bite to eat and I think I've found my new spot. I had the shrimp burrito and my boyfriend had the chicken burrito. We also tried the fish tacos too. Everything was a 10/10! The agua frescas was delicious and you can tell it's fresh. My boyfriend loved his horchata also. Everything was great. I've been craving some ceviche and for some reason it's been tough finding a good place that has bomb mariscos. Came across this place and ordered the 1/2 doz of shrimp in agua Chile (chili water) and it was FIRE! So flavorful, fresh and satisfying. Ordered fish ceviche, although it tasted fresh and has a generous amount of protein and not packed with veggies- it lacked flavor and felt like canned tuna. Still good but I ended up mixing it with the agua chile broth. I like my ceviche drenched in lime. Personal taste. Definitely saving this location and coming back to try their other seafood dishes.
