I grew up in Whittier and have always seen Super Burrito on my way to eat at El Atacor. On Saturday on our way to El Atacor (which has amazing food but eating area isn't so comfortable) we decided to try out Super Burrito. As we walk in the dining area is much more comfortable and appears to be much cleaner than El Atacor. You have to order at the register before you pick your seat. It was pretty crowded when we got there but not crazy. So we thought it was a good sign. As my husband was in line to order I was sitting at a corner booth and I asked a lady near me what she recommends. She raved about the Cocido. I looked around and almost every table and take out being done was for Cocido which I was very surprised about. It was cold and rainy that day so it was the perfect weather for it but Cocido for me is something I only eat homemade at my moms house because I think it takes skill to make a good tasting broth and tender meat. I decided to go w crunchy ground beef taco, and chicken enchilada combo plate. I should have followed everyone else's choice and gone w the Cocido :( My Food: Refried beans were very dark and salty. They may have been from a can. Rice was pale yellow and all you could taste was strong garlic...weird...I was expected slightly red Spanish rice. This was not Spanish rice. Chicken Enchilada, the chicken was super dry. Nothing but chicken inside, no cheese, no enchilada sauce, nothing. only dry chicken. The enchilada sauce was edible but it was from a can. Ground beef crunchy taco...ground beef was almost burned, bone dry, no seasoning, awful. I only ate half of the crunchy taco & the chicken enchilada none of the rice and beans. My sister in law got the shredded beef soft taco and chile relleno combo plate. The chile relleno was very little chile and a lot of batter. She said the shredded beef taco was dry. My husband got shrimp cocktail with very little shrimp, stale saltines, and he also ordered the carne asada quesadilla which he said was ok. Meat was dry. We got 3 orange bangs which the owner was nice enough to refill for free which I don't think they normally do. At one point the owner was putting away spoons, forks, knifes in their tray behind the counter but instead of placing the inside he was throwing them in. It sounded like one by one and making so much noise. The lady at the next booth and I made eye contact and she rolled her eyes at the racket he was making w the metal utensils. Not the noise you want while you're trying to enjoy a crappy meal. Person after person I kept witnessing order the Cocido and on occasion the Menudo. maybe that's their jam and everyrhing else they half ass. I don't think any of us will be returning. I wish we would had driven 30 seconds more to enjoy the consistently good food of El Atacor. We spent $30 and it was awful. Owner seemed nice enough and the diner was clean and comfortable. Now here's a place where the people are friendly and the food is great. The people really care about the customers opinion. One afternoon I went in to get "Mike's Super Burrito" and took it home to eat. Half way through it, I noticed that there was way too much refried beens and started to get sick of the taste. I ended up throwing the rest of it away and getting something else. Anyways, I went back 2 weeks later and told the guy, behind the counter, of my experience. He apologized for what happened and wanted to make it up. The owner came in and offered to make it himself, just to make sure it was made correctly. I haven't been here in a while, and by a while I mean about five years or more. I ordered a chorizo and egg burrito. In the burrito they also put beans and cheese. When I came in I was so excited to see that they had a specifically labeled vegan burrito. Upon ordering I questioned if I could get guac instead of just avocado and something told me to ask if it would still be veg.... Only for the cashier to tell me that the VEGAN, nameD vegan, burrito isn't actually vegan. The beans have animal products, everything is cooked in the same oil, and the guac has milk in it(??????? Swear this takes the cake for most unnecessary addition of milk). Its unnerving to me that a place would be so careless for what gain. Some people have allergies,yo! I love Super Burrito's crunchy tacos. If you like authentic Mexican food, then this is the spot to dine in and order out. Recently Ive had their Cosido and carne asada taco, which hit the spot. The taco was called salad taco with carne, lettuce tomato and shredded cheese. Ive had their menudo, fish and shrimp tacos. My first encounter was when I first moved to Whittier was an carne asada burrito. I liked it, but it wasnt impressed. Went to Super Burrito for lunch yesterday to try their Cocido - WOW! Should have got the large bowl. Great comfort food and at reasonable prices. I needed a quick bite to eat and this was it. Although I've lived in Whittier most of my life, I've never been here. I got a carne asada burrito, taquitos, quesadilla, and a bean and cheese burrito. The size of my burrito was impressive, but the beans lacked flavor. I was hoping the salsa would add flavor, but I wasn't impressed with the red sauce. I ate the jalapeños and carrots instead, but I need a good salsa with my burrito. I've said it before, Mexican food needs good salsa. Without that, you got nothing. I will say, they didn't charge me extra for rice in my burrito, so that was nice. As for my family, they weren't impressed either. Will keep looking for good salsa and beans elsewhere. read more

So the guys at CNC Motors got a special treat yesterday of a large delivery of wet burritos and chips and salsa. Although I don't live super close to super burrito if I'm ever in Whittier again I will make the trip. Chili verde wet burrito was delicious! The pork was crazy good. It had the consistency of a chunk of chicken not like shredded beef like it normally seems to resemble. Super tender and juicy. It has been around a long time and I can see why. Love this place for a quick bite or to go meal on the way home. It's a tiny run down spot so appearance alone might through you off but it's worth the visit. My favorite thing here is their mike super burrito with carne Asmara, so cheap and hits the spot! I often find myself calling in an order to Super Burrito on Sunday mornings for their breakfast burritos (chorizo and machaca are both terrific!). The order is always ready by the time I get in my car and drive over there. I also love their chile rellenos and chicken flautas. I always get the "plate", which comes with rice and beans and a small salad. The rice is light and fluffy and so tasty! Their salsa is chunky and delicious and they have jalapenos, carrots, and yellow chiles. The staff are really friendly, both over the phone and in person. Today I had something wonderful happen. I picked up menudo at Super Burrito and without noticing I dropped my drivers license and credit card in the parking lot. I hadn't even realized they were gone and to my surprise the owner drove all the way to Bellflower to drop them off at my parents house! What a sweet thing to do! Please visit this restaurant. So this was my first time actually having a meal here. The one thing that caught my attention was the menudo. They claim the menudo is "the best in the world." They might have to retract that. I went here after hearing so many amazing things about this place but I have to say I am very disappointed. First my menudo was salty and cold. I was beyond unimpressed with the place that claims to have the best menudo in the world. I also asked for a size of rice, making specific note to tell the server it was for my 1 year old baby and they failed to tell me it's spicy. An innocent oversight but still annoying. I have been back a number of times since my last review and unfortunately it's gotten worse. I used to go for the menudo, but the menudo is sub par now. Whoever is cooking it is not cutting off the excess fat from the tripe, causing it to be on the greasy side. Not sure if this is an oversight due to trying to make a quick pot. Hopefully the owner reads these reviews and makes the necessary adjustments, otherwise, I think people will look elsewhere for cleaner, tastier menudo. read more

Hardly taste the carne asada , it had plenty, very plain. The Beans were better. All drinks besides coffee are from a machine. No fresh drinks. Hot salsa was mild. Again no true flavor. Was in the area looking for a yummy breakfast burrito and found Super Burrito on Yelp! My daughters and I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito with cheese and potatoes. They loved it. I however thought it was OK. The potatoes in the burrito were crispy like tater tots. The customer service was excellent. They were super friendly and helpful. I love this place!!!!! I can't believe no one has mentioned the menudo which is awesome! Menudo was one of those foods as a kid i would be forced to eat a couple of times a month when my mom would make some on Sundays and the whole extended family would come over! Now I find myself craving it!! Luckily I can find some right around the block! The best part is they serve it everyday unlike some places which only serve it on weekends. I've tried some pretty stinky menudo at some places that were really disgusting!! But i never gave up looking for a place that could satisfy my need for tripe!!!! The menudo here is always well prepared with plenty of meat and hominy in a nice chili broth!! they give you a tray with plenty of fixings, cilantro, onions, oregano, chili and lemon. If you like pata they'll add one for a little extra and it's well worth it!! It is truly filling and of course great for the cruda!! The cocido is also pretty incredible!! Chunks of beef with plenty of veggies, carrots, chayote, cabbage and corn!! The broth is beefy and you add all the same fixings and it's a great and healthy meal!! great on one of these cold and rainy afternoons!! I really haven't tried much else on the menu cause i keep coming back for these two dishes!! When I first drove into the parking lot there was a line to order. I thought this must be good food. I ordered a large cocido, and a small menudo, and a carna asada burrito to go. The order comes with Tortillas. I was on my way to visit my mom, and family and was excited to take them this food,that I heard was so good. When I got home to serve my Mother there were no tortillas in the bag, and the burrito tasted like it was full of salt. I am very disappointed. I called Super Burrito talked to Eddie and I told him my experience he said he would give me a ten dollar credit. I spent twenty dollars. If you like salty food then this place is for you. Also check your bag before leaving the restaurant to make sure your tortillas are in the bag. I don't like my food to be drenched with salt, so I won't be returning. Okay, I returned. I just had to see if it was a off day for the cook. Since a lot of people eat here I thought it was just me being to picky. Great menudo!!! The best in Whittier and maybe all of Los Angeles! The menudo is what they are known best for but they have a full menu of Mexican fare to satisfy anyone you bring with you. There's nothing like starting off the morning or a cold evening with a bowl of their hit menudo. And on top of all that they have excellent customer service. They really care about their guests.
