Regular Burrito (chicken)
Joyce J.

Super Burrito has the typical Mexican fare, eg. Burritos, tacos, Chile relleno, plus hamburgers and fries. We got burritos and we're pleasantly surprised at the size! Bigger than many other places. Yay! The carne asada burrito was super yum. The chicken burrito could have used a little more flavor, and I found a bone in the meat. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are quite a few booths for dining in. The parking lot was a little tricky because the entrance driveway has a one way arrow, but we couldn't find an exit driveway.

Pan dulce and coffee

Our first time there. When we walked in there was nobody at the entrance, so we sat down. The young man approached the counter and looked at us and said loudly, "come order first!" No good morning, or such thing. Ok... we got up and went to order. I ordered red chilaquiles (sauce tasted from a can, and the rice was hard, maybe reheated from yesterday or day before?) and he asked me how I wanted my eggs and said sunny side up. My husband ordered green chile and eggs, but he didn't ask him about the eggs. My husband doesn't like sunny side up at all. He assumed all eggs would be the same, sunny side up, and I didn't realize it until the order was served. The extra tortillas took 5 minutes after the food was served and my husband had to get up to get them, so service is lacking. The place is small, but busy, so one waitress is not enough. She has to take care of tables and take out orders. The establishment needs maintenance and upkeep. The decor is outdated. Parking spaces are small and limited.

Their famous menudo

I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here for years and love their menudo! Tastes like it's homemade and that's what makes it even better! I had stopped coming for about a year when COVID happened but I recently started coming back. I'm really sad to hear that owner's son had passed away. RIP and sending condolences! I absolutely recommend this place for anyone who wants great food and great menudo! Also, The service here is outstanding! 10/10 recommend!

So this place was recommended for their menudo from a guy that my mom talked to. So we went on a Sunday morning just before the breakfast crowd came in. This place got packed quickly and right before you know it the place was full. So my mom & I tried the menudo, the chilaquiles plate, and sweet bread. Everything was great and the service was good. I'd go back to try their pozole next.

The menudo spot! Consistently good for years. Small place but never had a problem getting seated. Can always take it to go. Parking lot is small but can navigate through it easy enough. They have a bigger menu and not just menudo is served but all I seem to order. All meat or extra meat or no meat options.

The "menudo everyday" sign is what got us in here. We arrived late at night and we were informed that they were only doing take out at that point, which was fine but I kinda wanted to dine in, the place looked cleaned and homey. I got a small menudo and my husband got a chicken burrito. Food was good, they did provide the standard garnishments. I cant say this is authentic Mexican food, maybe a few generations down the line but it still passes.

Colossal Super Burrito

We got colossal burrito size of my face. It's good but I would have to say the only issue was it was very greasy and it was dripping out of the burrito

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

Bizzare and not cool because when we arrived, we realized this and still decided to stay. So. Thats on us. Would not return. This place is cute inside and I could tell it wants to be trendy and cute. The music was loud and kinda clubbey but still not enough to make the food enjoyable. Alcohol drinks are very pretty, aesthetically. Waitresses also were not busy on a weekend at dinner time. I could see that they were chatting in the corner. There was only one other table there so I get it. However, when she got our order. It was wrong so that rubbed me the wrong way.

However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. It is very loud here with a full restaurant of diners, the live DJ and football games going with loud cheering fans, so if you have sensitive hearing, bring some ear plugs.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

One Of The Best Hot Burritos In Town & Their Hot Sauces Are On Point. I Highly Recommend Them!read more

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.
