Prior to this visit, I had driven by the big "Coming Soon Super Chicken" sign many many times and knew I had to try out this new place sometime soon. I managed to drag a few coworkers with me for a chicken run and we were all pretty excited to try out Super Chicken. As we pulled into the parking lot (Super Chicken is located directly behind the Hour Eyes in Tysons Corner, in the same parking lot as Marshalls and Sports Authority), I could already smell the delicious odoriferous emanations coming from the Super Chicken kitchen. Ummm...the sweet sweet smell of Peruvian style rotisserie chicken. Follow your nose, it always knows... :-) We arrived shortly after 11:30am in order to beat any potential lunchtime rush. Boy, we were smart! As soon as we walked in, a huge crowd of patrons lined up behind us. It was as if they were waiting for us to arrive and then said, "Hey, let's get in line behind the fat kid!" The inside of Super Chicken was brand spankin' new. Everything was clean and the layout was bright and spacious with plenty of natural light coming in via the huge front windows. The inside also had that delicious rotisserie chicken smell that added to the rumble in my tummy as I waited to place my order. In line, I scanned the side offerings which were astoundingly plentiful. There were beans, fried rice, fried yucca, french fries, corn, fried plantains (my favorite) and all sorts of yummy offerings. I decided on a 1/4 chicken dark with a side of pinto beans, fried yucca and fried plantains. The service line was quick and very efficient in putting my plate of food together. Even the register lady was quick and I was in and outta that line in no time. Finding a table, our group sat down and we proceeded to tear into our chicken like raptors tearing into Sam Jackson in the first Jurassic Park. The chicken was delicious, but the spices weren't the same as other Peruvian chicken joints like Pollo Rico. The meat was juicy and tender with a skin that was crispy and delicious. In my opinion the side items were the stars as each of my choices were taste-a-licious. The fried yucca was crispy with a moist inside and the beans had a great mix of spices and flavor. My fried plantains were super sweet and cooked perfectly in that way I love where the outside caramelizes and adds a slight crispy candied outside to the plantains. I was happy with my meal and thought the chicken was good, but not the best Peruvian style chicken I had sampled. The sides were pretty good, the chickpeas is in a curry broth. Now for the chicken, it tasted really good and it was well seasoned. It was a little salty but nothing too bad. However I noticed even though I ordered dark meat, the chicken was mostly pink.( I'll post photos). I lost my appetite afterwards and couldn't finish all of it. What a great discovery! There is some awesome Peruvian chicken sold at this place. And I highly recommend the mashed potatoes because the gravy is sooo so good. But I think all the sides are amazing - they have so many choices and probably one of their biggest assets. Perfectly seasoned and cooked almost every single time I go here (about once a week), the chicken is so juicy it just melts in your mouth. The menu includes things like chicken fried rice, chicken cheese steaks, cheese steaks, carne asada and much more. Personally, I just get the quarter chicken meal cuz it's super fast and I'm in and out of there in about under 5 minutes. Today after a while I was the one in the restaurant instead of my husband so not sure how long this has been going on but NONE of the line servers were wearing gloves. We come here almost every week. Their food is consistent and delicious. The staff could use more attention to detail when touching my container. For example they touch everything such as the cash register with their gloves but also touch/handle my food container. It would be helpful if they paid extra attention to this. The sauce they used was a little bit saltier than what I would have wanted, but the food was good. They gave a large portion of rice and a decent amount of fries. I had two chicken breasts (skin still on) covered in their special sauce with two sides. The chicken had been flattened (??) out and it really wasn't all that tasty. I'm not into skin so I had to peel that layer off first which took away most of the flavor. The pieces were decent size though so if you like eating the skin I guess the chicken breasts might be more up your alley. Next time I'll go chicken on the bone for sure. The rotisserie chicken did look delicious and juicy. The sides I had were just bland. I ordered fried rice and steamed veggies. The veggies were veggies so no complaint there. She had visited Peru before & said it has the authentic Peruvian taste! Even without knowing what real Peruvian chicken tastes like, I can agree that the seasoning was superb. I visited the Vienna Super Chicken location and was extremely disappointed with the lack of customer care and the lack of hygienic and sanitary measures and practices observed in the kitchen and bathroom area. I understand that COVID has posed several setbacks and limitation for numerous businesses in the area. However, the gross negligence practiced at this location is inexcusable. Employees handle food with their bare hands and exercise little care or caution in preparing meals for customers. Employees do not acknowledge customers or handle customer orders with care. My stomach immediately reacted poorly to their chicken quesadilla which one of the staff had prepared behind closed doors in the back out of sight, possibly so that I am not witness to the substandard standard used in its preparation.
