There were no smiles, no warmth, and her overall demeanor gave the impression that she disliked her job, disliked dealing with customers, and simply did not want to be there. As a business owner myself, I understand how important customer relationships are. The checkout counter is often the final impression a guest leaves with, and something as simple as a friendly smile or kind interaction goes a very long way when customers are spending their hard-earned money. I am from out of town and expected much more from what appears to be a boutique-style grocery store with a strong community feel. Stores like Trader Joe's are a great example of how positive, friendly interactions at checkout can completely elevate the customer experience. I even went so far as to ask Delaney if she was having a bad day, and the glaring stare I received in return ultimately prompted me to write this review. To be clear, I am not looking for anyone to lose their job. I simply believe some coaching in guest relations and customer interaction could make a tremendous difference.
