    Sushi bar seating
    Ron R.

We went here for lunch (around 12-1) on a Sunday Holiday weekend. Street parking is available nearby. Sundays were free, but for weekdays download the "Passport" parking app and get the zone and space number off of the meter for the easiest way to pay. Look for the red awning on Washington to find the restaurant easier (see uploaded pic for storefront.). This is a mom-and-pop style local restaurant with very limited seating and a casual atmosphere. There are about three tables plus sushi counter seating (see pic). Consequently, do not come with a big group or else order take out. The in-store menu was different from that posted online on our visit (see menu pics). They have a pretty traditional Japanese menu for sushi and bento box/platter style items. Bento boxes may only be available on weekdays, call to check with them. On our visit we got: (1) salmon, tuna, and yellow tail sashimi, (2) tamago and unagi sushi, (3) seaweed salad (see pic), (4) teriyaki chicken, and (5) shrimp yakisoba. The sashimi was outstanding and better than many expensive upscale restaurants in terms of quantity and quality of the pieces of sashimi that they served. The sushi and seaweed salad were of very good quality. The shrimp yakisoba was just ok. The teriyaki chicken had a small portion, the quality of chicken was good, but overall, this dish was not very good and we would recommend not getting it. Like happens many times, we were hungry and forgot to take pics of most of our food. The service was excellent in terms of how nice the people are who work here and how responsive they were. However, the lady who took our order did not write our order down and either did not hear or forgot put in our order for seaweed salad. Once we let them know about this, they were very apologetic and got it out to us right away. Overall, we would highly recommend this place for sashimi and sushi, but the platter, bento, and other items may be hit and miss. So, if you are in the area and want sushi/sashimi, then definitely give this place a try.

Th food was nice! There are lots of food to pick!! We were very full!! The rolls are very creative!! I enjoy the pepper beef tataki, very well seasoned! The chef let us know that the Uni is not fresh so they need to cancel our Uni order. (That's good, I tasted bad Uni at other restaurants before, it was an awful experience) It's very small inside, can only fit a few people. The bathroom is quite hmmm interesting lol.

Consistently good! That's how I would describe Super Fusion. It's a no frills joint. You think of takeout sushi, and this place comes to mind. Fifteen minutes and your order is ready. We've ordered multiple times now. I don't believe they have an online ordering system, but it's super easy to call and place your order, takes a minute at the most. We've had the spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and a couple other rolls - they've all been tasty. A special mention of their vegetarian roll, the Hawaii one, which has mango, banana, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese. Don't knock it till you've tried it! And thanks to the many many Yelp reviews recommending the Beni Toro Banana, we ordered it and enjoyed it. I never thought salmon and banana fried in a ball, drizzled with sauce could be so good - and especially that sauce, yum. The next time you want a quiet night in, watching a movie, and you wonder "sushi night?", Super Fusion is your place!

    Green Monster Maki

Was in the area and decided to stop by. I was the only customer at the time and was helped immediately. I started off with ordering the crab Rangoons and miso soup. The miso soup was good. The Rangoons have their own special take on them and we're absolutely amazing and would definitely recommend. Huge portion for what you pay. I also ordered the green monster maki after it was recommended to me. It's a spicy tuna roll and was a super fresh and great roll. Will definitely be back in the future.

This is a spot that me and my husband frequent as a "go to" for our sushi fix. The quality is always fresh and the rolls are always adequate in quantity (there's nothing I hate more than skimpy sushi rolls!) The restaurant itself, however, is very small, consisting of possibly 4 or 5 two-top tables and a bar seating 3 or 4 people so if you're coming here on a Friday or Saturday night you are far better off ordering takeout. Nonetheless, high quality sushi, good service, priced right--come to sate your sushi cravings!

Sushi lunch special - very sad
    Jin C.

Pretty decent sushi but also nothing to shout about, despite the sad and faded accolades from 2013 on their storefront window. I had their sushi lunch special and it was three pieces of nigiri and a California roll. They only do takeout and delivery now.

    Brown belt

Really great sushi. I got the Brown Belt combo - very fresh fish in all. Tiny, unsuspecting place but very worth the try. Great service.

    Call history.

Let me preface by saying that I grew up eating sushi from this place. My dad worked two restaurants over for 20 years and would bring us sushi from here, so it's sad for me to give a one star review. See attached call history as proof. Ordered sushi at 5:50 pm on the phone with these guys and was told 45 mins on Valentine's Day. Fine, no problem thinking that they must be busy today. I go an hour later with my girlfriend and it wasn't ready. My girlfriend went inside and was waiting for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged and was told to step outside so that other people could order. When she told them that we ordered an hour ago, the host didn't even try to acknowledge our order and was like "ok but still step outside so others can order." Bullshit. We saw it was busy so we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and went to pick up our smoothies from Allston. That took about 15 mins. Girlfriend wanted to go to Trader Joe's while we were in the area which took about an hour. I called in and asked about the order, confirmed my phone number (since that's how they track orders) and they said "sorry give me a few more minutes. No problem. Girlfriend gave them a call for update and they asked for more time. Gave them another hour and change while we went driving around Brookline and Allston killing time and to Whole Foods down the street from them. Called again while shopping and was told AGAIN few more minutes and that they'd call me when it was done. It's about 8:30pm, an 2 hours and 40 minutes after I ordered at this point. At this point my patience has run thin, I work in retail pharmacy so I understand busy times but I go back at 8:50 a whole 3 hours after I placed my order and the host said "oh I thought you canceled your order." ????????? When did I say that? Horrible customer service on VALENTINES DAY. My girlfriend and I worked all day, without lunch so that we could enjoy a large sushi dinner. I went there expecting an apology at minimum, but wasn't even greeted with that. They didn't even offer me a discount, I had to ask for one and all they gave me was 8 bucks off. tLDR: They made me and gf wait 3 hours for our order while they took everyone else's orders. Called 3-4 times to check on order and kept being told to give them more time. They ended up thinking I canceled my order and didn't give me an apology and a slap on the face 8 dollar discount on a 50 dollar order.

Top 2 rows: Unaavo Maki (eel, avacado) Bottom 2 rows: Fusion Maki (shrimp, eel, fried sweet potato)
    NIkky G.

Service: no smile, below average. Cost: Comparable to JP seafood, the two rolls came out to under $15 with tax. Interior/decor: below average Sushi: The rolls were prepared fresh. It's better than getting it from Wegmans but not as good as JP SeaFood Café. The fusion Maki had way too much sweet potato. And you can't taste any eel in either maki. Would possibly get takeout again if we are driving past it and hangry but wouldn't make a special trip for it.

There was a great singer, pianist, and sax player to really set the mood. They were super fun, especially when a couple got engaged! To start, I got their ginger martini and while my friend went with a Do-er neat (not a whiskey drinker myself, lol). He tried to order 2 of their beers but they were out of both. My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.

First time here and it was great! We did the AYCE all-you-can-eat on a Monday (they only do it…read moreMonday and Tuesdays) - got there around 7:30p and even though it was very full, we got seated quickly with a table for 3. It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. The decor is very nice - reminded me of a dive Tokyo bar. Service was quick and very attentive. We will be back!

With what…read moreseems to be a recent price increase, now $50++ allows access to a good variety of sushi/sashimi, on top of apps, ramen, poke bowls, and cooked rice/noodle dishes. Whereas $80++ offers diners a set of amount of uni, plus unlimited amount of everything else, wagyu included. Sounds like a good deal, especially when one can eat a lot. Even as we are no longer Team Eat Till You Burst, we went for the premium, mainly for the nicer cuts such as toro and wagyu, and because uni!! Jumping in shortly after 5pm, we were promptly seated, marked a bunch of stuff on paper, and soon after submission, we got food brought to our table. It was a decent meal overall, so why 3 stars? Let's recap. Menu variety is fantastic, though of course we didn't get "one of everything", coz that's simply impossible. While the premium did cover a lot of grounds, it would have been nice if they also included anago (sea eel) which is currently only available on the a la cart menu, and maybe even offer couple lesser-known items such as monk fish liver app, sea grapes, off-the-beaten-path fish cuts, what have you. Would be happy even if we only get an allotment of those like we do with the uni. Now, service - great overall. Servers circulated around and were alert of customers' needs. Approached at appropriate times to take our order sheets, refill water, provide new order sheets, and ask if we wanted more food. So kudos on that. Their denotation of serving "regular portion" of cooked food had us hesitant in ordering, since we didn't want to be wasteful (or use our limited stomach space for dishes we can easily get elsewhere). But from other tables' orders as well as the one noodle dish that we ended up getting, it seems that the portion size was what I would like to see at AYCE places -- about 50-60% of regular Asian dish size, where 3-4 people can each have a couple bites "just to try". However, to think if that is what they call "regular portion", then it is definitely "Brookline pricing" on a la carte, which I would not recommend one to do such things on these items. Food is fantastic in general; we got a variety of stuff, and everything was really of top quality and taste. The meal would have been a "highly recommended" if they didn't serve the uni that we got. Out of the 12 pcs of uni sushi, all of them were... while not "foul" to a point where one cannot safely consume, they were definitely more sub-par than "ok but not great". Colors aside (which I understand there can be a range depending on origins and such), the uni was a "splat" of yellow stuff on rice, without distinct shape of the flesh. On top of the fishy smell (I'm talking about slightly ammonia-ish), the presentation and taste-texture upon them hitting our tongues... really left the ENTIRE room to be desired. In retrospect, we should have sent them back even if they weren't going to replace them. But instead, we stupidly forced ourselves to shove them all down in cowardly silence, then ordered another round of wagyu just to make us feel a little better about it. Yes, we weren't smart as customers. But if the restaurant is going to charge $100++ per person (after tax and tip), someone from the kitchen should have known better than pushing this thing out for customers to deal with. In their defense, yes, the uni itself was still "edible" in a sense that it didn't make us sick, but I'd maintain that better judgment should have been made. Once the shell was cracked open and you see this pale-gray yellow mush, it should have been decided that it is better repurposed, than be served straight to your customers as your star/featured product. As seen in other diners' experiences, it could just have been a one-off mishap, so I'm not knocking them entirely. But I do hope the restaurant would improve on their QC accordingly. It was such a disappointing low point in an otherwise wonderful meal.

We got the beef noodle soup which was excellent (albeit not expected in a Japanese restaurant!). It was actually a little spicy. Came with lots of beef and a flavorful and rich broth. We got two of the special rolls, Kiss of Fire and (I think) Torched Yellowtail, which were both tasty. No complaints there! For our appetizer we got sashimi salad, composed of strips of several kinds of raw fish (salmon, tuna, white tuna, yellowtail) and some surimi and avocado on top of a bed of greens. There was a ponzu like sauce on the side. Although fresh and not bad tasting, I think this was a bit plain. Overall though, the prices and vibes were good and I'd come back!
