Nutshell: unassuming joint that hides good food at a very good price. I recommend a stop in if you're in the area. I was trying to find something new in the area and happened upon Super Gyro on yelp...so of course we had to try. Me and a friend popped in on Tuesday around 3:30pm. As some have said the place is "dated". Personally this reminds me of the old Taco Bell or ice cream shop set ups and I think it adds to the nostalgia and overall decor. It was clean and that's what matters. It's located right next to the high school, so shortly after we order and got our food a swarm of kids made their way across the street. I went for the Gyro plate, which included a single gyro, fries, and a soda under $10! The fries were a perfect portion and perfectly crispy. The gyro was hefty to put it mildly. Loads of meat and nice slather of tzatziki sauce and some tomato and onion. The flavor was pretty good. My only issue was I thought the gyro was a bit greasy...but not enough to not enjoy it. The guys behind the counter were friendly and got our order out very fast. If you're in the area it's worth the pop in for a good gyro and fries. read more

I had no idea Greek food would be so good!! My friends and I stopped here on our way home one night, and we just picked the place at random, having never heard of it before. Finally! A fast food place serving something OTHER than burgers/tacos. The menu is extensive with "Chicago" style food and it doesn't disappoint. The cheesesteak is delicious, the gyros are piled high with meat and the italian beef is authentic as well. You will spend 7.50 for a sandwich,fries and a drink. Sure it's a buck or 2 higher than McDonald's but I'll gladly pay the difference and eat this EVERY time. I really hope this place sticks around. I'm looking forward to ditching the usual fast food places for awhile. read more

In an area where no strictly "Hot Dog" restaurant seems to make it, Super Gyros Chicago Dogs are good....and reasonably priced. (Of course the best I've had were from a cart vendor in.... You guessed it Chicago!) The dog is I believe a Nathan's All Beef with Mustard,Onion,Relish,Clausen like dill pickle spear and Sport Peppers. I've tried the fries and they were hot n tasty. (Frozen/Not fresh Cut) Their Ice cream is a quality brand from Wisconsin and is Very Good! There are other items on Super Gyro I've been meaning to try (Gyro,Philly Etc) But when I come here I'm typically craving a Chicago dog and thus thats what I order! read more

a TRUE hidden gem of belleville. looking at this place from the outside, you'd expect it to be bad, not gonna lie. it seemed sketchy when we walked up. we had ordered online and the prices were cheap, so we figured to just give it a shot. it was the BEST gyro i've had!! i subbed out the onions on the traditional single gyro for lettuce and it was great! also, their fries are good!! seemed to taste fresh, we're warm and crispy! would 100% recommend you give this place a shot!! great service, easy online ordering and great food! read more

I like this restaurant. Their food is tasty and prepared with care. The Greek salad is a favorite. It can come with meat of your choice or without. Meat is extra charge. I prefer without cause it is a good size and filling. The Chicago style dog is small but good. I like the Philly steak but the Italian beef is a favorite. I will eventually try everything on their menu. The gyro plate is my next try. Price is reasonable. read more

My food didnt show up till 30 minutes past estimated time. However upon calling the store it was explained that grubhub doesnt base estimated time on the amount of orders. I am glad there is a place closer to home with good gyros. I don't have to go to Fairview Heights anymore. Their cucumber sauce is tastier than most. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Completely unremarkable, except to comment on how unremarkable it is. I ordered the namesake gyro and was unimpressed. It wasn't that it was bad, but everything looked and tasted like it had been prepared and shipped from the Chicago-style frozen food factory. It's not Greek, despite the decor. The only Greek food on the menu is the gyro and the baklava. Otherwise it's Philly cheesesteak, hot dogs, and pretty much anything easily bought in bulk and fried. As for the gyro itself, it came with two of the wimpiest tomato slices I've ever seen and despite ordering extra gyro sauce it was bland. The sauce itself, I mean. The meat wasn't anything special, but the sauce had no tang whatsoever. It was just yogurt chilling out with my meat and what was attempting to pass as a garnish. I'd have paid for the extra feta had I known for boring it would have been without it. At least everything was hot, but the baklava was overly sweet and difficult to get into with the plastic utensils provided. If you're in the area, it's no worse than other fast food joint around. Theres no reason no to stop in if you're in the mood for what they have, but I highly recommend driving a little further to Lilly's Gyros in Fairview if what you are looking for is better Greek food. Or make the trek to Fazzi's in Collinsville. It's a chain, so I hate to knock it for being what it is, but I was really looking forward to being able to get a decent gyro down the street, and no such luck. Love the fries here and the craving for said fries is what brought me in tonight. Now before you get to thinking these fries are something from the gods..they're not! They are simply slightly thick cut frozen potatoes, that are hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered the single gyro with feta cheese. It also comes dressed with tomatoes, tzazitka sauce, and red onions. It is not my favorite place to go to for a gyro, but it is a very good contender when the crave hits. I just ate the best gyro I've had for 20 years here. Their tzaziki is wonderful, the pitas they use are thick and fresh, and the whole sandwich glows with flavor. First time there and went with the Italian Beef. This sandwich that Chicago has made famous it is rare to find a great Italian Beef outside the Chicago area. I found it good but it is lacking the spices from the windy city. I believe that might be by design because most folks in this neck of the woods have bland taste buds. The sandwich is good and moist with a fair amount of flavor. the bread was fresh consistent and good. I would buy it again. The fries are great thick and crispy, I don't believe you can find them at any other restaurant. I will definitely be back to try their Chicago style hot dog and their Gyros.
