The girls that took over were absolutely incredible, they knew I was on a time crunch and had both taken over to work on my hair together and get me out in time (which btw, the result did come out pretty amazing and I made the next appointment on time!) I spent a year getting maintenance trims while growing out an undercut, so I was overwhelmed with ideas for how I wanted to revive my hair once it grew out to an acceptable length. I figured I'd give some broad ideas I had and defer to her judgment once we met and bless her, she totally understood what I was going for within mere sentences! I've never felt such immediate trust and comfortability in a stylist. It's insane how much you dont realize your hair impacts your self esteem when it's been in a state for some time. I could feel my personality getting bigger (or rather, coming back) as she cut off all this length and I watched her transform my hair. My cup truly runneth over with joy once it was complete! I felt like a whole new woman and I could not stop checking myself out. Hell, I'm still checking myself out! I truly did not and still don't know how to act since. I have been to Aura a handful of times over the years (the very first time was YEARS ago when it was swanky- but my hair stylist left so I stopped going for hair but I continued to go when they changed the name, for facials a couple of times) not the point.. but it seemed like this place has changed a lot since last time I was there and it now looks like a hodge podge of different things and it didnt feel cohesive. Which, obviously works for them- but it didnt feel like an actual salon/spa. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk so one of the stylist that was cutting hair had to stop to ask us what we were there for and then said the stylist would be up soon. She came up, we went back, we talked... all is good. (Again, this has nothing to do with the actual stylist!) But the stylist took my daughter to wash her hair and a couple walked in with a baby and a toddler. Seemed to be a stylist that just had a baby. Not sure, but they went back around a corner where we couldn't see them but could hear them. The toddler would come out and run around the salon. Again, I couldn't see back there so idk if there was a door or what- but I assumed after the first time it wouldnt happen again, since this is a salon open to the public and not just for family. Nope. The toddler kept coming out running around and two different times would go to a chair that a client was sitting in and either touch their leg or arm or whatever (as a curious toddler would do) but the dad slowly dragging his feet behind the child and would stand back and say "hey buddy, let's not do that" instead of scooping him up and taking him back to where the stylist and baby were hanging out. It was crazy that it happened once, let alone more then once! Then a couple other people were checking in for their appointments and there weren't seats available, they had to sit in the chairs at the nail area or the dryer. It was just a weird experience between the way the salon was set up, the fact a child was allowed to run around, touching guests, and lack of a waiting room (which if I remember correctly, was taken out to put a little gift shop in?) Like I said the stylist was great.. but the salon overall, I would not recommend.

I love how you can go to their website and get to know all the stylists. I made an appointment with Kimberly because I got to see Instagram pics of some of the work that she's done and I felt that she would be a good fit for my particular hair care needs. I was so glad I picked Kimberly! She immediately made me feel at ease as I explained that I only wanted the bare minimum cut to remove my split ends. I spent a long time growing my hair and I wanted to keep it as long as possible. She started off by giving me a thorough scalp massage. It felt so good and really relaxed me. During the styling we were chatting constantly. Kimberly is very friendly and we hit it off like a couple of gal pals. I was very happy with the end result. Kimberly recommended a hair mask that can also work as a conditioner to help me with keeping my hair moisturized I will definitely be coming back to Kimberly on a regular basis to keep my locks in great shape.
