Amazing meal and great service! This place has a few bad reviews on Yelp so I had my hesitation about going here, but the reviews are old and I really wanted to try them out... so glad I did! An article about their "7 courses of beef" meal for 2 people sparked my curiosity and I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised and impressed. Everything that came to the table was amazing. First course was a lemon beef salad. The flavors were fresh and unique. The thinly sliced pieces of lemon added a nice citrus pop to the rare roast beef style slices of beef and all the fresh veggies. I didn't realize I could eat lemon like that! Next was a combo of courses 2-5, which had a small serving of 4 kinds of beef. Grilled beef in lot leaves (I've only ever had this dish at Bac Nam), a meatloaf style beef in a flavorful onion oil, a stick of satay beef in a sweet marinade and a piece of tender beef wrapped in a thin layer of fat. It was served with a mound of fresh veggies and vermicelli noodles and you make your own summer roll wraps. We were stuffed after this!! Then a light fondue course of raw beef and onions that we dipped in a sweet pho broth to cook it. The flavors were really good on this one, too! Sorry I forgot to photograph this one! Finally a rice porridge kind of like jook with a chicken broth flavor and prices of tender beef and crispy fried beef. It was also pretty light and refreshing considering it was rice. I loved how they had chili paste, fresh chili peppers and a special umami fermented fish and pineapple sauce for dipping. That last one is another dish I've never tried before- the flavor is awesome. The restaurant is large and clean and they have free parking in the lot beside the restaurant (enter it from the side street past 7-11, not from Waialae side bc it's a one way out). Service was really good. The 7 course meal for 2 people is currently $41.99 (as of March 2022) but the other menu items seems overpriced in comparison. We got an ice coffee and it was $6.99! BYOB! If I could give this place a 10-star rating, I would. Let me just start off by saying I came to this little spot because it's close to where I live, I'd never tried it before, and I was hungover AS FCK and needed some pho, lol. This spot is by far THE BEST I've ever had! The broth must have been simmering for a day or so, because--let me tell you--it was unbelievably rich and flavorful. I've never tasted broth like this at any of the many pho places I've tried. EVER. And on top of that, the hospitality was amazing. The lady who helped us this morning was very attentive and kind. COVID-era takeout review I can't believe I've never written a review for Super Pho before as it is one of my go-to spots in Kaimuki. Their food is reliable and consistent. They are quick and parking is free on the mauka side of the restaurant. There are a few things that are on the usual rotation... SPRING ROLLS -- Really light, crisp, tasty fillings. Served with fresh lettuce and herbs. BBQ CHICKEN/RICE PLATE -- Grilled boneless chicken thighs covered in sauteed green onions and fried shallots, served with rice, pickled veg, and fish sauce VIETNAMESE SOUR SOUP WITH CHICKEN -- When it's cold out or I'm feeling sick, this is a go to. Definitely one of those dishes that you eat and have no clue how to prepare and don't have the ingredients for at home. Folks seem to order the "Thai style" sour soup a lot more often but this is the version that I love -- and it is not easy to find in Honolulu. It's full of chicken, fried shallots, pineapple, okra, fresh basil, elephant ear stalks (is that taro stalk???) in a delicious umami broth. Unless you are Vietnamese, it is a totally unexplainable soup but just completely delicious. They weren't doing dine-in for part of the pandemic and now that they are doing so once again, it doesn't seem like their customers have returned. The last time I called in an order during peak dinner time, they had my food ready in ten minutes -- which tells me that the kitchen isn't that busy. :( Prices have increased pretty steadily over the past few years and though it's no longer a cheap meal, Kaimuki is high rent and this is one of the few, better Vietnamese spots around. The BBQ pork, beef, and chicken over cold vermicelli are packed with flavor, and the spring and summer rolls are always fresh and satisfying. We wanted to grab lunch and ended up on Waialae Avenue. We wander around this area and looked at many restaurants. Nothing seemed to interest us. As we got closer toward the basketball court my boyfriend mentioned this Vietnamese place that he has been wanting to come back. We checked out to see if they were able to dine in and yes, they were! As soon as we walked in there was a temperature machine. We measured our temperature and put down our information for contact tracing. We were seated right away. I noticed that they seem to have renovated the place because the tables and chairs looked new. They also had curtains set up to separate the tables when it gets busy. My boyfriend has been here multiple times in the past. He raves about how the seven course beef ($37) is the best and only one on the island. So we got that for two people. So it's seven different dishes made with beef. It comes out one dish at a time. The first dish was a beef salad. It was mixed with different types of veggies and thin slices of beef. The sauce tasted sweet and sour. It felt very light and healthy after eating it. The second, third, fourth, and fifth dish was all combined in one big plate which consists of different vegetables with different flavored beef cooked. For this dish, what you do is make summer rolls with it. It was not only delicious but also fun. The 5th dish had a vinegary soup in a pot and you cook the raw beef in it. It was quick and easy, kind of like shabu shabu. The last dish was congee. This congee was more watery with rice that's much more visible in shape than the Chinese congee. It tasted delicious and not overly salted. I usually don't eat much congee but this was really good. I enjoyed the seven course beef. We were both very full after eating it. My experience ordering take out. Strike 1: They didn't take my order when I called. Upon arrival they told me I'm at the wrong location and that they don't have my order. Strike 2: they charged me $18.42 for an order of pho. As I was paying the cashier said they changed the price for the week of christmas. Strike 3: I called in curiosity as to why they raised the price for just this week. In response I was called prejudice. He explained to me how Asian ingredients are expensive because of import. It's funny because all I asked about was the price spike for the week. Then after listening to him rant he finally said it's because the price of sprouts went up. It's funny how our spouts are locally grown. But it's fine I'm not cheap. Strike 4: he talked so deeply about how the spices and taste is so important as to why he charges $18 for pho. But after all this I lost my appetite. The broth tasted thin and bland. Haven't eaten at Super Pho in years. Parking is limited. They share the parking lot with the coffee shop. Stalls marked reserved are for the tenants of the apartment. I found metered parking on the street. I ordered the Won Tun pho with Rice Noodle. You can see in the photo that it came with shrimp, fish balls, won Tun, and noodles. I went in to have some lunch during my lunch break and when the bill came, I was told that it was going to be $50. Because I did not get any vegetables with my Pho, they brought out apparently five eggrolls instead of three and charged me $20 for five eggrolls. So for one person to eat at this establishment, it was $50. Because the bowl of Pho that I got was $20 and so was the five eggrolls. I honestly feel like I got scammed because I didn't ask for 5 egg rolls and I wouldn't have thought that it was gonna be $20 for five egg rolls. It's been a while since I had great vietnamese food this place definitely hit the spot. The only thing I would say is this place is a tad bit more expensive then the usual norm. Catfish braised stew was so good literally best I've had in a while. Would 100% order again. It wasn't too salty or sweet and had a nice depth of flavor. Fish was tender also like how it should be. Catfish Sour Soup was very good. Kind of wish it was more sour for my taste but the Pineapple added in the dish makes it a bit sweeter which is perfect fine and still delicious. Beef and Lemon Salad was a nice appetizer to start out with. Very refreshing and the beef wasn't overcooked and the sauce was just right. The Durian Milkshake had real durian in it and the Pandan Drink was very good 5 stars on the drinks Downside of these dishes But Bo Hue just tasted like spicy noodle soup. Doesn't really have that bun Bo Hue taste if you know what I mean. Wouldn't order again. Next the Spring Roll for $12 was not worth the price. Came here for the 7 courses of beef. My mom found out this place served it on youtube and I was hyped. We pretty much came as soon as she found out! 7 course beef is something special that no one really serves, especially in Hawaii. It consists of course 1- lemon beef salad , course 2-5 various type of beefs that are cooked different ways that you wrap with rice paper and veggies, course 6 - beef fondue, and 7 beef congee. My favorites were def the courses 1-5. The salad was super fresh and probably cause I was hungry! haha. But courses 2-5 were very special and I loved eating the various types of beef with the rice paper rolls. There were also two very special sauces , your typical fish sauce and another really pungent sauce (but very good). They ask you for your choice but we wanted to try both and I don't think we got charged extra for it. My boyfriend also got the pho! We really liked their broth. I would def come back here to try other dishes but the 7 course beef was really special and all of the courses were good but I just especially liked those certain ones. read more

Lately been coming here a lot for pho recently! It's become our favorite place. I usually get the pho tai Bo vien (rare steak/beef ball) and my other half gets their pho with the tripe, tendon, beef, and flank, all super tender. The broth is very flavorful. You can taste all the herbs, anise, and I feel like there's notes of cinnamon. But it's definitely not watered down. All the times we went to eat in, or get take out the food is always consistent. I've recently got to try their bun with bbq pork and spring roll. It's a good portion, their bbq pork is full of flavor and bbq char. Not thick or chewy. Only sad part for me is I love spring rolls, and other places serve at least 2 pieces of spring roll in their bun. This place only serves 1 piece cut into 3. I like my broth a little lighter than others, so if you like that really pungent pho, this may not be the place for you. But, if you prefer a lighter pho that's really refreshing, especially with a squeeze of lemon, then this is the pho for you. Quick and easy, and their take out containers rock!
