I am craving to go back but it's far from me so I'll have to plan the trip out here. I went to Super Pollo for dinner recently with my fiancé and our friend. To be honest, the food was delicious! The atmosphere was very friendly, welcoming, colorful, and cheerful. We had the option of sitting inside or out on the tastefully lit deck. The chicken was tender and tasty while the mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection! We also had fun with the pitcher of scrumptious Sangria! For dessert, we shared a freshly prepared flan topped with caramel and cinnamon. Yum!! Everything was truly great! Gentrification rolls through neighborhoods like waves, the changes of few blocks to the west reverberating further and further east. So it is with Williamsburg, where the pressures on the waterfront, with ambitious multinationals gobbling up large pieces of the real estate, have effected the roast chicken scene miles inland. My longtime favorite for pollo asado, Pollos USA, closed and reopened twice in rapid succession, finally remerging as the haplessly upmarket Caridad. Prices doubled, sending me over the border to Ridgewood for an alternative. Super Pollo doesn't have the advantage of being two blocks from my house, but it is just a short cycle away. The crowd on a recent Sunday was almost entirely Latino. Super Pollo is Mexican, although the asado scene is strong in that country, most of the places offering this type of food in New York are run by people from Andean countries (Colombia, Peru) or Spanish-speaking places in the Caribbean (the Dominican Republic). Honestly, it's hard to taste the geographic differences in the final product. This isn't the NoMad, where the bird comes stuffed with foie gras. The test here is whether the chicken meat is juicy and flavorful when served, and this passed the test. Beans and rice are the go-to sides here, and while the butteriness of the rice doesn't hold up to the very best days of Pollos, perhaps that means that this is meal is slightly less of a calorie bomb. (Free chips are served before the meal, which is something you'll never see in a Colombian chicken place.) Until this place starts marinating the chicken with kimchi or placing star anise on the table, this is poultry winner just over the Brooklyn border. read more

I decided to stop in this restaurant after passing by it several times and also seeing the great reviews on Yelp. Upon walking inside you get the feel of a real nice cozy latin restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and the hostess/waitresses are very friendly. I personally ordered their whole chicken with avocado salad. It tasted great and the chicken was tender and juicy, unlike other restaurants where they're usually dry. I got to peek at the other plates on the menu and they definitelt look appetizing. We got the chicken empanada special. They use the same fry oil for their fish as they do for the empanadas and it made ours taste fishy. I wasn't a fan of the empanadas. The crust was very thick and the crust was battered and deep fried. Unlike any empanada I have ever had. We also got the steak which we liked and recommend! I ordered from here after reading all of these great reviews and I'm here now to tell you that it's true, this place is amazing!! Get the green sauce, spend the 6 bucks.. It's so freakin good. Everyone talks about the chicken and I definitely plan on ordering that next time but this time I got the churrasco meal which came with french fries, a side of white rice and a piece of avocado. The portion was great, it lasted 3 nights and that's why the pint of green sauce is essential!!! Can't wait to try the rotisserie chicken and get more green sauce.. I live two blocks away from Super Pollo and go about twice a month. The consistency for quality at this place is amazing. I always get great food. Never a bad order and the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans is delicious and fairly priced. I do pickup orders and it's never taken more than ten minutes. Small businesses like this are what make this neighborhood great. P.S. the green sauce is crack. read more

Well food here is soooo good that I hate it, because I LOVE IT!!! Its impossible to stay fit with this place around!!! I was in a low carb diet until I came across this place, now I need bigger size jeans thanks to Super Pollo. Their food is spiced to perfection, my taste buds were screaming " GRACIAS" . For $8.00 during the lunch special you get soup or salad meat/fish and a side order with a drink. 1 st I usually get the salad the spicy green dressing on the is sooooo good unlike any other sause I have tried. 2nd I get the quarter chicken in the oven with steamed vegatables or rice sometime the sweet plantains depending on my mood. 3rd the strawberry soda. SUPER POLLO IS SUPER Just completed eating food delivered by Super Pollo on Woodward Avenue in Ridgewood, Queens. The food was very tasty and was a large quantity. I could not finish all of it. The food was delivered ahead of the estimated time which was surprising since it is a cold and frigid evening outside. The deliverer deserved the $6.00 tip that I gave him. Had takeout from this place today and can't believe I haven't tried this place earlier! My wife and I had the arroz con camarones y tostones and an order of the calamari. The arroz con camarones y tostones was great, especially the taste of the shrimp. The rice itself was nothing spectacular as a stand alone but once you put a little bit of their green sauce, AWESOME. The calamari was standard calamari but not as greasy as most local places so very pleased and their marinara sauce was thinner than most and had a wonderful taste that I can't quite put a description to (sorry yelpers- just try it!) I had the Lomo Saltado which was a great portion for a greedy person like myself. My boyfriend got the Churrasco which he destroyed. The flavor was excellent. We get here, the waiter (Seymour) has strange jokes about my mothers age? Rude, weird, disrespectful, with his commentary from the beginning till the end. Then proceeds to take our orders while being unnecessarily flirtatious. THEN brings out the food, does not bring out the first meal that was ordered. So we are sitting here for an hour waiting for her food. At this point we don't want it. He comes out and says he doesn't if he was in love or lost his "WiFi"??? Huh? He doesn't apologize and the entire time is trying to have a battle about whether or not we ordered it and for ONE meal the bill comes out to $78 for ONE meal and an APPETIZER. If the service was better maybe I wouldn't have an issue with that. But the way this guy was assuming and crossing certain lines, it was just ridiculous. Never coming back read more

I used to get takeout atleast once a week but I am taking a break from them as I went there last night with. party of 5 and we were not treated well. After spending over $120 on food, they wanted to charge us $1 each to take our own food home in tin trays that probably cost 5 for $1. It wasn't the fact that they wanted to charge us but the agrumentative way the waiter demanded that. Every time I've eaten there right at lunch time (before 1:30) I was mightily impressed. When the avocado salad tastes fresh, it beats any salad at Norma's by a mile. When the chicken is juicy and tender and done to perfection, you scrape the bones. When the fries are done without haste, they are the perfect side. One thing they really need to do is clean the cavity of the chicken a little better before roasting them, and the service sometimes needs a kick in the pants (especially inside the restaurant: oddly, service outside was always stellar, but on the inside they always forget stuff). I wanted to love this place as the menu seems so good! I placed an order via Seamless, and received cheese empanadas covered with sugar instead of my chicken. I called the restaurant, and she claimed I never ordered from them - I stated it was impossible as I had their food in front of me! Puts me on hold and who I assume was the manager picked up. He locates my order, apologies for sending the wrong item, and stated my replacement will be delivered in about 10-15 minutes. FORTY FIVE minutes later, and still no replacement. I call, manager picked up and hung up on me while I'm explaining who I am. 5 minutes later, delivery shows up. Horrible service. Food was mediocre. Definitely won't be trying this place again.
