I wanted to try this restaurant out for a while as it seemed super inviting with its flowery outside seating during the warm seasons. My partner and I finally tried the place out on a cold day and still enjoyed our overall experience. There was a little bit of a hiccup at the beginning because, you see, my partner is vegetarian and there isn't anything on the menu that really caught his attention. Nevertheless, he really likes non-meat modifications of Spanish food so we gave the place a try. When we first asked the waiter whether he could substitute the chicken in his burrito with veggies, he asked us if we ever had a burrito before. Although we were a little stunned by the innuendo of the question, I think we all just tried our best to clarify the situation. They did a good job of adding cheese to his burrito and extra veggies to the salad accompanying it. I also enjoyed my chicken burrito. Some of the best chicken I've ever had. I could drink the green sauce straight from a cup. Always order extra green sauce. It tastes great on eggs the next morning. The rice and black beans and sweet plantains are also delicious and served in big portions. Usually we get delivery and it's super fast. We ate outside here once and it was very pleasant, tried some different platters and I have to say, compared to the chicken, it the pork and steak wasn't that great. The chicarron were super dry. Maybe I'm just not used to this style of chicarron? Also, the sangria was decent but super, super sweet. Almost as sweet as the really good tres leches cake dessert The prices can't be beat. I got that half chicken and rice, the empanada, and that green sauce that's so good you could rewrite The Wire with them selling this by the vile. So two days later I was like try the Lomo Saltado. But on March 6 I had an issue with my order , I selected rice and I wanted yellow rice and gave instructions with beans . When I got my order they just gave me beans ! I called the store and told them I was missing my rice and they told me that I didn't order rice ! Which I did!! The courtesy fried chips (white corn?) look homemade and are nicely seasoned, but the pico de gallo they're served with is a religious experience! On to the Pernil Combo: flavorful, excellent portion and price: red beans and rice, pork, tomatoes/red onions and side salad. Their homemade sauces are excellent: creamy ivory for salad, with a slight lemony/mayo taste and green cilantro/avocado/jalapeño with a kick, for the meat. Superb sauce pairings! Just the best. Love this low key Ecuadorian spot in the neighbs. All their soups, roasted chicken and yellow rice and beans, guacamole, yucca... are the best, the green "spicy" (it's not very spicy actually) sauce as a condiment is brilliant. Only thing I can say is, for the soup for delivery, maybe more liquid and less hard food - the last time I ordered it was like 7/8 potatoes chicken and veg and 1/8 liquid. But still....
