Super Wok has new owners, a new look, and a GREAT NEW MENU that's suitable for healthy eating and for vegetarians! They just re-opened a few days ago (2/2/2010) under the ownership of two energetic young men. They redecorated the bar and restrooms with a stylish modern look. The large dining room - which already looked nice - has been thoroughly cleaned. They're open until 11 PM Saturdays and Sundays, and 10 PM weekdays. In the suburbs, this is late dining, a good thing. The best news is that they have a completely new menu and are emphasizing fresh vegetables and a light touch with a very stylish presentation. Brown rice is available. The standards are still available. The prices are typical for suburban Chinese, with apps from $4 to $9 and entrees from $8 to $16. Lunch is $6 to $7.50. The food was excellent. My husband and I ate dinner there on a Thursday night. The service was excellent. The table was set with flatware and linens, and high quality chopsticks were provided on request. We didn't receive tea, but that's OK as we don't usually drink it anyway. We ordered Cold Noodle with Peanut Sauce. It arrived in a broad plate with a bowl-shaped well in the middle. The sauce was drizzled over the rim. The noodles had an unusual ridged texture and were al dente. The dish included crunchy slices of marinated daikon radish, carrot, and cucumber. The sauce had a good balance of spice and richness, and did not drown the noodles and vegetables. We also had Black Mushroom with Baby Bok Choy, another very stylish presentation. There were 6 baby bok choy, split and steamed with a delicate flavor of rice wine, in a circle on a round plate. In the middle was a heap of black mushroom caps in a rich, mildly spicy, dark sauce. This dish required a knife to cut the pieces, but was worth it. We got fortune cookies after eating. Some sliced fruit would have been nice to cleanse the palate. Aside from the usual items, the menu includes new soups with ean curd, vegetables, seafood, watercress or spinach ... sauteed spinach with garlic ... six tofu entrees ... five mushroom entrees ... 6 "lighter side" entrees with no added oil, salt or MSG ... a variety of noodle choices including chow foon and udon ... Peking duck ... and "big bowl" noodle soups with choice of chow food, udon, vermicelli or angel hair. There are 24 items on the lunch menu. They have a full bar with a drinks menu. One of the owners spoke with us as we were leaving. He said they plan to offer seasonal specials and that vegetables are a major feature. They have some unusual vegetables you don't normally get. Their menu states that every dish uses "freshest ingredients" and they prefer to steam rather than deep fry. We are delighted that this is available right in our neighborhood and will be eating there often. read more

We came into this place we have driven past a dozen times without noticing on a Groupon. The bar tender suggested the Pad Thai and the Special House Fried Rice and she was right on! Ordered takeout tonight and the pu pu platter is one of the best i've had in a very long time, the peking dumplings were very overcooked and the crabrangoons were sub par. Yuck... went in to have lunch with my wife and the restaurant was dirty and nobody came to the counter to seat us. They had dirty tables that nobody was sitting at... poorly managed and I hesitate to even think about what the kitchen was like. We left without anybody even noticing. read more

After trying nearly all the Chinese places in the area, this was next on the list. I must say that the prices are a bit higher than the others, and because the rice was not included with the entrees, our bill was even higher than anticipated...$50 for two entrees, two sides of rice and some egg drop soup. I wish they offered combination dinners with the rice and egg roll included like the rest of the Chinese joints around here. I was not wowed enough to justify paying almost $20 more than our usual Chinese takeout night. The General Gau's chicken was probably the best I've had around here. The sizzling beef in black pepper sauce was pretty good, but was lost in a sea of sauce, onions and mushrooms. We ordered beef fried rice for a change, but I would've preferred the pork fried as the beef seemed to add too much extra grease. And the hunt for good Chinese continues... read more

This is the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time and quite possibly the best crab rangoons I have ever had. The food was ready quickly and was delicious and it felt healthier than any Chinese I have had before. We will definitely be going back. read more

Food was ok to be positive. beef and broccoli was chewy, sezchuan chicken was marginally better. the real issue was the waitress, my wife and I both got the strong impression we were a major inconvenience. the restaurant was almost completely empty but she seemed to be very short with us. she took our order, and was very matter of fact about it. she at no point.offered a hichair or other accommodations to our 10 month old. We went on new years a few years back and if i wrote this then it would be 1 star. All the Chinese food places i like around here closed. So I gave it another try the bartender Sarah was awesome and the food was good other then the bland fried rice. We went back a week later and got take out and mai tais while finishing our drinks the manager felt it was a good time to yell at the bartender about over pouring in front of a crowded bar. Extremely unprofessional as well as off putting considering the bartenders processionalism and friendly demeanor is why we are there. read more

Prior to a nearby concert, we selected Super Wok for dinner. I was less than impressed. Appetizers of egg roll, chicken teriyaki and boneless spare ribs were mediocre. Of note were the very gristley spareribs. I ate 'em anyway. We shared chicken lomein (served tepid) and eggplant with garlic sauce that was served still bubbling hot in a little cast iron skillet. The oil spattered all over our table, plates and clothes! The mai tai I had before dinner was heavy on the fruit juice and scarce on the booze. I won't go back! I grew up in Londonderry and have been eating here for years. It's always been pricey however the food was decent. After moving back up from Florida my tastes have expanded and it's not the best food but it's worth it with to go and have drinks with friends. The wait staff is very helpful and pleasant. They also do Groupons, so that's a plus. Go on a quiet night the food was better, found that out. It's local and decent worth a try. read more

Decent chinese food in Londonderry. We like the chicken chop suey, garlic chicken, general's chicken, egg rolls, beef teriyaki.. the "standards" of American chinese food. The spice level of items marked "spicy" is laughable though; if you like spicy, you'll need to order these extra spicy. They deliver after 5pm and they do have an online ordering website which makes it really convenient to place an order. Their mai tai's are really good and on Mondays they are 1/2 price! We've never had to wait for a table in the dining room. Typical for Chinese restaurants, there's no kids menu. Also, they don't offer kids cups for drinks so if your little one has trouble with an open glass, then bring a sippy cup with you to pour the drink into. read more

Ok but not great. Initial impression was a bit of a moldy smell that was probably from the carpeting. There is a large, lovely crowd at the bar and seems like some regulars who enjoy the social scene. The dining room was a much more mellow crowd. Fóod was fair. Although the food deserves 3 stars, on my second visit to the place I was disappointed with the quality of the service. We ordered soup and the bowls arrived with soup having poured over into the saucer plates. The server, who was otherwise friendly, did not even apologize or attempt to switch the saucer plates for clean ones. And while clearing the soup bowls she dripped soup all over my jacket and did not notice; or again pretended not to. New management took over about a year ago, raising the level of the Chinese fare much above the mediocrity previously served. Also, new prices came with the upgrade which was somewhat discouraging. Nevertheless, those prices seem to be shared by more and more of the competition, without the quality. This review is based on two separate take-out orders -- one, luncheon specials and the other, specialties from the evening menu. I ordered General Gau's Chicken and Pork with Garlic Sauce off the Luncheon Specials Menu. Each came with Hot and Sour Soup, Spring Roll and Roast Pork Fried Rice. The servings were generous. The Hot and Sour Soup was wonderful -- a big improvement over the too-sweet renditions served under previous managements/chefs. Full of meat broth flavor and the usual goodies: pork, egg, bamboo shoot slivers, tree ears and bean curd, I don't think better is to be had in the area. A bit pricey off the a-la-carte menu, it is a wonderful accompaniment with the Lunch Special The Spring roll was light, crispy, moderately flavored and best of all, not oily. Both the chicken and pork were deliciously flavored although I found the coating on the chicken a little too 'bready' though not enough to discourage me from ordering again. The Pork with Garlic Sauce was accompanied by generous stirred fried vegetables awash in the sauce. I also ordered the appetizer: Spicy Wontons with Peanut Sauce. This is a favorite of mine, too rarely found on restaurant menus. The wontons, six if I recall, were big and tender with a nice pork meatball inside that could have been a little more flavored. They were served on a bed of bean sprouts with the peanut sauce ladled over the wontons. Unfortunately, the peanut sauce was somewhat weak in flavor -- a bit 'watery' -- something I too often encounter in restaurants that serve them. When done right these are a rich and zippy bit of Szechuan Heaven. Given the much improved quality of the Lunch Specials, I returned a week later to order a take-out of the House Specialities Menu. I chose the seldom found (in So. NH) Cantonese Roast Duck and a dish called the Fondness of Two. The Cantonese Roast Duck was meaty, succulent, juicy, and tender; deliciously flavored with the traditional Chinese spices and slightly sweet as is typical. It was served with a richly flavored dark sauce on the side, flavored of a hoisin base. Very nice. It was not accompanied with any vegetables or rice. The Fondness of Two is a combo of steamed shrimp and satay beef, with vegetables. Both the shrimp and beef, each with their accompanying vegetables, were served in their own sauces. A great selection for those who like flavorful Chinese cuisine without the zippy spice. The five shrimp were huge and tender-cooked with a light lobster-sauce-style sauce. File this as a mild but favorful dish. The satays I've had before have been peanut-influenced flavored of varying degree so that is what I expected. (My research indicates this is not always the case so I've learned something new.) This particular rendition of beef satay was new for me but it very tasty with succulent tender beef in a brown sauce that was not heavy but richly flavored while not particularly spicy. The beef was first class, cut in nice sized pieces for the chop stick or fork. I would get again. The Super Wok advertises in local flyers with a number of coupons included. This meal qualified for a free Pork Fried Rice with order. As neither of the House Specialties came with rice, I used the coupon to obtain this accompaniment. I wondered if the 'free' fried rice would be a 'sized down version', never having used the coupon before. It was not sized down but the same package as if I had ordered off the menu for real $. The fried rice was freshly prepared -- not dry in the least -- chock full of vegetables, egg, and roast pork cubes. This is as good as any I've had and better than many. There is a new Super Wok in town with new Management and a new chef! Londonderry now has two great Chinese restaurants in the 93/102 corridor. read more

Decided to try lunch here so I looked at their on line menu and ordered. Their hours were posted on their website and I paid on their website, Got to the restaurant to pick up my order and they were closed, with different hours posted on their door. Okay so not a huge deal figuring I would go back the next day and either order the same food or get a refund. Much to my surprise my request was rudely answered with "come back in 7 days with your bank statement and we will look at a refund". Very rude and impolite manager who obviously could care less about my business. Not sure on the quality of food but the quality of service is the worst. We went here because of all of the positive reviews but left extremely disappointed. We ordered the pad Thai, chicken and broccoli, and chicken lo mein with wonton soup and egg rolls. The chicken soup came out first and tastes greasy and fishy. All the entrees were room temperature at best. The pad Thai was far from delicious or authentic. I've had better "Thai" noodles from a lean cuisine. The waitress apologized and the kitchen quickly microwaved our food but it still tasted old, slimy and greasy. The best part of the meal were the prepackaged fortune cookies. For $50 I'll go somewhere else and get food I can enjoy. read more

Super Wok is under new management so we decided to give it another try. We went on New Years Eve, so we expected it to be busy. When we arrived there were signs on the doors saying "no coupons/groupons" ok, whatever. We walked in to a mob scene with no one appearing to be in charge of taking names. We did get our name on the list and waited about 15 minuted to be seated. Once seated, we waited about 10 minutes before our server came over. We began ordering things and were promptly told they were out of tea (at 6pm??) and we could not order a combination appetizer (for $10) but we could get a pu pu for $20. Our server said there was a limited menu and a whole list of things we couldn't order. There was no special menu provided, nor was this explained when we were waiting for our table. A Pleasant Surprise! Went here recently with the entire family. Not one of us was let down... I highly recommend ordering outside of your comfort zone. All the food came out in a timely manner including the Duck. A WARNING- They do burn incense and it can be a little much at times. I actually thought someone was smoking cigarettes- It's that Strong! Best Chinese food in the area! We get takeout about once a month since we moved here about seven years ago. Only once have we gotten a meal that was sub par (the chicken was overdone). We've tried Jay House, Ginger Garden, and China Garden, and Super Wok beats them all (China Garden is second, and gets an honorable mention because they are notably cheaper than Super Wok). Not a fan of their fried rice, so we usually get the low mein, which is good. They offer discounts for cash paying customers, so remember to stop by the ATM before you pickup your food. Let me start by telling you that there is no other comparison to the food and drinks at Super Wok. I have tried Chinese food all over the USA and this restaurant exceeds all, including China Town in Boston and San Francisco. The dishes range from traditional appetizers to delicious dishes. You can call ahead and order salt and pepper lobster...a real treat! Their Mai Tai's will not disappoint either! The staff is always welcoming, friendly and ready to serve!
