Unfortunately, the finished color was completely different from the photos. My hair was left an ashy, mousy brown with very little dimension, and the blonde money piece I requested in the front was gone. I was also charged an additional $50 for toner, which was not explained to me beforehand. I was very disappointed with the result and will need to have my hair corrected elsewhere. Based on this experience, I would not return to Trisha.

I reached out to that person as well and received no response. Message received. The whole experience was disappointing and honestly painful. Looking for a new stylist as a queer/trans person already comes with a lot of anxiety around whether a space will actually be safe and welcoming. Sadly, this interactions let me know that my concerns were real. I can't speak to their intentions, but I can speak to the impact: I did not feel welcomed, wanted, or safe as a prospective LGBTQ client. I wish businesses could be more direct about who they aren't prepared to serve, because being quietly redirected elsewhere after explicitly asking for a queer/trans-friendly space feels awful.

The highlights came out noticeably chunky and stripey, with harsh lines, poor blending, and a distinct brassy yellow tone that makes my hair look damaged and unnatural. I've never had a salon service turn out this poorly before. Lauren herself was kind and professional during the appointment, and I believe she tried her best. However, the final result does not match what was agreed upon, and it has left my previously healthy virgin hair looking compromised. I reached out to Kate Lane management the next business day with photos from multiple angles showing the issues (patchy application, thick streaks, harsh lines, and brassy color). I politely explained that I was too upset to return for a correction and requested a full refund for the highlighting service. They have refused to issue any refund. I'm extremely disappointed in both the quality of the work and the salon's unwillingness to stand behind their service when it clearly did not meet the client's explicit instructions. This experience has cost me time, money, and confidence. I would have still returned to the salon for regular haircuts and to purchase hair products if management had handled this situation differently. I have had my haircut here many times and it was always a nice experience. Unfortunately, I cannot even recommend them for that anymore. Customer service is everything and this situation was not handled fairly or appropriately. I would not recommend Kate Lane Salon for color services, especially highlights. Proceed with caution -- or better yet, go somewhere else.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I took my sister to this store for a major make-over. She has been basically missing for the past year and a half, and finally decided to come home to her family who loves her so much and start completely over! It was such an amazing day of reconciliation and we couldn't wait to complete her new self with a hair cut!! She had let her hair grow into dreads. But she was ready to leave that look behind. We walk in and immediately get a scowl from the receptionist. I tried to lighten things up by saying "Who's up for a project make-over" only to be met with more grimace on her face. She calls over the 2 stylists and I explain that we don't want to salvage any of it. We want it all gone and that we want to give her a cute pixie cut or whatever they think would work best. We didn't want them to wash the dreads or comb through her hair, just chop it all off. Give her a completely different look. These judgmental, self-righteous women just stared at my mom, sister, and I like we were aliens and proceeded to tell us there was "nothing they could do for her" and that it would take "hours" to cut that hair. They then suggested that we go home and cut it ourselves and that they could style it after that. I took my sisters hand and walked out. As we looked back through the window, we could see these catty stylists pointing and talking about us. I was utterly disappointed in the lack of simple humanity these girls showed my family. I work at a luxury hotel in the area and was completely appalled to have been treated with such disrespect. We walked out and had a good laugh that the store was called "Supercuts". Yet, they don't know how to cut hair, huh.... interesting. We immediately drove to a place called the "Hair Cutters" where the most kind and gentle woman took my sister to her chair and gave her a new identity. We were so grateful, especially after what we had just been through, that we gave the woman a 50% tip for her kindness. Big Mistake. HUGE, Super cuts. Please boycott this place. read more

I recently moved back to my hometown and knew that I needed to find a place that was good and affordable. Supercuts seemed perfect. It was clean and open. The stylists all seemed so happy and friendly. My hair had been previously cut so short on one side that I looked as if I had a permanent case of bed head... Not cute! Nilo, who had just finished up my mom's hair called me over to take a look and offer up some suggestions and product to help until it grew out. This was enough to show me how much she cared about her clients. When it was time for a cut, I went to her and haven't gone to anyone else. She always has good ideas that work perfectly and leave me feeling great! I highly recommend this Supercuts and especially Nilo. read more

I've had a lot of bad experiences (strange colors, bad cuts, damage from over processing) with hairdressers in the past and it seemed that every time I'd find one that I really liked, they would end up leaving. You can imagine how nervous I was when I moved back to San Clemente and was in need of a new stylist. I headed to Supercuts and Nilo, was the first one available to take me that day and she's been doing my hair ever since! She really takes the time to do my hair right, whether it's a trim or a wash and style. She's never let me down and has slowly become a good friend too. I highly recommend her... I have been skeptical of barbers before and I have shaved my hair for years. When I finally decided to grow my hair out I went to Mona and she has done nothing but a phenomenal job each and every time. I religiously go to Mona every two weeks and she hasn't failed me once!!! It has been the best haircut I've had in the past three years. Since losing contact with my hairstylist three years ago, the haircuts I've had turned out to be mostly okay but nothing like I wanted. Today was the first time in a long time that I was satisfied and felt it was worth it (though it wasn't all that much, it's about how much all the other trendy salons charge for women). Brad was my stylist and my appointment was at 9:00 am. I know, ridiculous of me, but I had a day full of errands. I came in a few minutes early but Brad was already in and preparing for me. He truly listened to what I wanted and definitely got my idea. I didn't even had to show him a picture of what I wanted and I came prepared with a handful of pictures. He also asked if he could cut a few inches off my waist length hair, which was nice because I had someone cut 6 inches off without asking me first. He explained that cutting off the two or three inches off will help shape the haircut I wanted and I easily went with it because what he suggested was reasonable. I thought why not, it's summer and my long hair is driving me insane with its heat retaining properties (I kid you not!) and it's been getting tangled a lot lately. Brad was very personable and tolerated my chatty mouth so early in the morning. I normally don't talk that much during the day but I haven't had coffee yet and I was still half asleep. It was just me and him for a while until one of the other employees came in. My fiancee originally referred me to Brad for haircuts. He found this salon through yelp and gave it a shot about two weeks ago. My fiancee loves his haircut and I know he'd bug the crap out of me if I don't go to the same hairstylist. My fiancee and Brad definitely hit it off. My fiancee also said that Brad and the other hairstylists only come in when they have appointments set up. Otherwise, they wouldn't come in. So make sure to make an appointment instead of just walking in. My fiancee said it was just him and Brad as well on a weeknight. The place was clean, trendy looking, and I liked that it wasn't crowded although I thought it was a little stuffy in there (could be better if they turned on the AC). Overall, I would recommend this place, Brad specifically, because both my fiancee and I definitely will be coming back. I have finally found a hairstylist to go for the first time in three years!

The reason I found them is I was searching for a salon who offered Organic hair color and they do! They are conveniently located right off of PCH in San Clemente and I got an appointment with no problem. I was greeted very kindly upon entering. Jackie the owner helped me find the perfect organic hair color for highlights that resulted in a really pretty honey color, which was just what I was looking for, she did them quickly too! I hadn't had a good cut in years and had really damaged ends but all that was resolved with a great cut with long layers added in to my almost one length hair. Jackie and Lori were very attentive and sweet, overall good people! I look forward to going back when the spa section of the salon is finished which will offer many forms of massage therapy at affordable prices and organic facials, among other treatments! *FYI they offer a great deals for first time clients such as a free hair cut with any color treatments.
