I think that is definitely something that's lacking at most Ultas that I've been to. I'd love a little bit more help and support when navigating all the different aisles and options. Also, a lot of of the products were either out of stock or even there was a lack of testers. Something that was kind of disappointing to me was that their birthday gift selection was not very good. It was mostly just face lotion. I know the store itself doesn't have much say over this, but feedback to Ulta as a whole, it would be nice to see some small products that are popular or things that they're trying to promote. I know they get enough supplies to be able to offer that. Maybe one day even a full-size product. Just a little feedback.

I arrived 30 min early to my appointment and the red head front desk worker was PISSED to see me walk through that door EARLY. Me arriving early in her eyes was an equivalent of someone bringing a dead possum and throwing it in front of her. She emphasized that patients should only arrive early if they have forms to fill out otherwise it's pretty much unacceptable. I later understood why her reaction was so bizarre-the place was overbooked so once that happens from what I saw GOOD customer service flies out the window. Once I got "lectured" about all the things I did wrong I wasn't offered to sit down and wait or have a drink (there's a coffee maker in the waiting area), the energy she put into letting me know how shockingly early I arrived was so negative that I couldn't stay in one room with her for another second. I left and came back just in time for my appointment but I wasn't seen then, I waited for 15 more minutes to get seen and the whole time she was "super busy" to acknowledge I was there waiting to be called so I had to ask when can I get seen. After my consult with Dr. M his assistant told this same worker to grab a cleanser (that is literally given out for free for a review) so I could purchase it upon checkout. I declined since I saw that "free product sign" just to see her reaction and guess what - she said "OK bye". She could've been nice from the start since she's sitting at the front desk and is "the face" of this business. I am the customer-she's not doing me a favor by getting up and bringing something for me - patients like me make sure bills are getting paid, the least anyone in customer service can do is give great service. I don't know why she chose to be unpleasant and why she had so much attitude from the very beginning but her disgusting attempt to provide customer service made me not want to ever step foot in this place again. I do not wish to have another encounter with someone so rude and unprofessional. The "face" I was shown by this particular worker is unfortunately a really poor representation of this establishment.

Connie Andrews has been my stylist for about 7 years. She loves what she does and it is more than obvious. She is always smiling in a great mood and happy to be at work. I always leave completely happy with what she's done to my hair. We have done every color, red, auburn, blonde and brunette, highlights, low lights, trending haircut styles and even extensions. She's helped me achieve every look I've walked in hoping to leave with. She connects with every client and I believe is friends with every one of them. My friend from Arizona even stops in to have her hair done when she's visiting. Connie came on site for my wedding and did my hair and it was stunning! This salon has two locations I was at 121 location 2 . And this salon is gorgeous. I absolutely love it !!! It's very nice and clean ! The stylist that did my hair is abbey, she is so sweet and paient with your hair ! Montserrat is an amazing stylist and I would highly recommend her! She has always done a fabulous job on my extra long hair, which I know from past experience has been difficult for other stylists. During my consult I realized the stylist knew her stuff and wondered why the salon wasn't allowing her to build a client base. Well I discovered why when a few months later over half the staff walked out due to poor working conditions, unhappy clients and along with a dose of snooty vibe. Heard Lo is interested in the Who's Who and famous people in the surfing world which I understand from a marketing standpoint. It has been the best haircut I've had in the past three years. Since losing contact with my hairstylist three years ago, the haircuts I've had turned out to be mostly okay but nothing like I wanted. Today was the first time in a long time that I was satisfied and felt it was worth it (though it wasn't all that much, it's about how much all the other trendy salons charge for women). Brad was my stylist and my appointment was at 9:00 am. I know, ridiculous of me, but I had a day full of errands. I came in a few minutes early but Brad was already in and preparing for me. He truly listened to what I wanted and definitely got my idea. I didn't even had to show him a picture of what I wanted and I came prepared with a handful of pictures. He also asked if he could cut a few inches off my waist length hair, which was nice because I had someone cut 6 inches off without asking me first. He explained that cutting off the two or three inches off will help shape the haircut I wanted and I easily went with it because what he suggested was reasonable. I thought why not, it's summer and my long hair is driving me insane with its heat retaining properties (I kid you not!) and it's been getting tangled a lot lately. Brad was very personable and tolerated my chatty mouth so early in the morning. I normally don't talk that much during the day but I haven't had coffee yet and I was still half asleep. It was just me and him for a while until one of the other employees came in. My fiancee originally referred me to Brad for haircuts. He found this salon through yelp and gave it a shot about two weeks ago. My fiancee loves his haircut and I know he'd bug the crap out of me if I don't go to the same hairstylist. My fiancee and Brad definitely hit it off. My fiancee also said that Brad and the other hairstylists only come in when they have appointments set up. Otherwise, they wouldn't come in. So make sure to make an appointment instead of just walking in. My fiancee said it was just him and Brad as well on a weeknight. The place was clean, trendy looking, and I liked that it wasn't crowded although I thought it was a little stuffy in there (could be better if they turned on the AC). From the moment you walk in, it feels less like a salon and more like spending a relaxing weekend with friends. First--practically speaking--the hair washing sinks are actually comfortable (no neck pain!), and everything smells amazing. Mari takes the time to explain the products she uses and the companies behind them, which makes the whole experience feel thoughtful and intentional. The space itself is beautiful--light-filled, beachy, and clearly curated with care. A lot of the decor feels personal or handmade, and she showcases artwork, jewelry, and crafts from local artists. You can tell she genuinely cares about supporting her community. There are even framed prints of her sister's stunning beach photography, which adds such a special touch. There's also a cozy patio with comfortable seating and a big umbrella where you can relax--I even caught a monarch butterfly drifting along Mariposa Street while I was there, which somehow perfectly matched the vibe. Inside, the natural light, music, and overall atmosphere create a full sensory experience. Between the calming playlists, the scent of the products, and the aesthetic of the space, it's incredibly easy to just sink in and relax. And then there's Mari herself. She has this rare ability to understand exactly what you want--even if you can't quite articulate it. I tend to describe things with vague phrases and hand gestures, and she somehow translates that into results that exceed my expectations every time. She remembers your hair, your preferences, and even what's going on in your life, which makes you feel genuinely cared for. She also meets you exactly where you are energy-wise. Whether you want to chat or just zone out (I'm definitely the "touch my scalp and I'm in a sleepy trance" type), she intuitively adjusts. Somehow, even when we do talk, it feels energizing rather than draining. On top of that, her technique is incredible--having her dry your hair is honestly so relaxing it feels (and looks!) like someone gently playing the harp. I first fell in love with Mari's work at her previous salon, and when she opened her own space nearby, following her was an easy decision. She's created something really special--an environment where you feel comfortable, understood, and taken care of from start to finish. Everyone who walks in seems genuinely happy to be there, and that says a lot. Also, the playlists? Perfect every time. I always leave wanting to recreate them at home. If you're looking for more than just a haircut--if you want an experience--this is it.

My appointment was on March 2, 2024. Please see the pictures. The haircut was so uneven, one side was far longer than the other. The highlights were very streaky. I could not believe it, especially the cut. I didn't come in for a correction because I did not trust her to fix the hair. I had to pay to have both the cut and color corrected elsewhere. I can't remember the name of where I got my cut corrected (small place in downtown San Juan Capistrano), but I got my color corrected at Brush Salon in San Juan Capistrano and they did a great job fixing my hair. I would not recommend Mary's Haircuts and Color Salon. I am not coming back.

We changed it up and visited Renee the owner of Ocean Blown Salon. Renee was the absolute best with him. Photos speak for themselves! Check out that smile! Little did I know my son would love the pampered life. Renee completely put him at ease. He sat through the whole process without a single tear or complaint. She knew that he was very sensitive about hair getting on him. Not one single hair landed on his face! I would normally have to change his shirt right away after a haircut but she was so good, my son told me "no I don't want to change my shirt". (Never has this happened)This was the most positive experience my son has had. I'm so happy we found Renee. I highly recommend her or any of the wonderful hairstylists that work there!
