She listens to what I want but at the same time, she will suggest options if she feels like a certain color or what not, would be or would not be good for me. I take in what she says but at the same time, she will ultimately leave it up to me (it is my hair)! Don't underestimate the stylists at Supercuts! This was a horrible experience. The stylist did a very bad job of trimming my hair. She trimmed more than what I had asked for. I wasn't even sure she was understanding what I'm saying since she just kept nodding her head. After the trimming, she didn't even bother to blow the strands of hair from my face. I had to ask her to do it later which caused all the strands to fall on my shirt! The old staff was nowhere to be found. Looks like all the good staff has moved to better locations. I used to go to another spot to get my hair chopped up, but the person that used to cut my hair ended up moving out of state. One day, I happened to ask a buddy of mine who cuts his hair and he said, "Kathy at Supercuts at Rivermark." I'll be honest, Supercuts didn't really have that good of a reputation back in the day. But since I trust my buddy's word, I thought I would give it a go. Well, that was about 4 years ago and I'm still going there once (My hair grows fast) a week. A while back, they introduced this shampoo and scalp massage called, "Tea Tree." If you enjoy scalp massages, I highly recommend it. I only go to Kathy for my haircuts and Tea Tree. She is efficient and she pays attention to the details. The rest of the staff is friendly but I haven't had them cut my hair, so I can't really comment further. read more

I've been coming here for years, as the location is very convenient. Recommend late evening appointments as most times it isn't that busy - weekends (and weekday lunchtime) are crazy. Call ahead to reduce your wait. I prefer a quiet haircut, and most of the ladies here accommodate. Once in a while I get a talker, but it's infrequent and never annoying - they know some people just don't talk much. Rarely do I have a complaint with the haircut. Maybe one or two times a year I hit somebody that doesn't thin it out enough, making me come back sooner than I'd like, but I'm always given a chance to check the cut at the end. Can't say this place is fantastic, but truly can't say it should be avoided. Seems like a 3 star review is right. read more

I'm writing this review to give a shout out to the girls at this Supercuts. I think they are fantastic as they're pretty, kind and always cheerful. I was stunned by some of the negative reviews they have, so I have to say something. I have to agree sometimes they have new members that are not very experienced and those might make mistakes. But please, don't tell me none of you ever have been in that shoe, being a newbie. Be kind, give people a chance as you will get good karma down the road. As for the reviews that says it's expensive to go here. Please excuse me as I laugh so hard on your face. It's Rivermark Santa Clara where the average price for the houses around here is more than a million. A medicure costs $22 from the nails salon in the same plaza, just for your perspective. I always have good service here as I know who and what to ask for. My advice ask the front desk girls who are the newbies and avoid them if you don't want to experiment with your haircut. Be patient as this place is always crowded (it's crowded for a reason). Be polite to your stylist as you would like people to be polite to you (it's just basic manner). Be specific and realistic about what you want. You should know that Tom Cruise and Jennifer Lopez did not go to this Supercuts to get their hair done. Don't just show a picture and expect to look like a celebrity with a $16 haircut. Again, shout out to my fabulous girls: Kathy, Lily, Danielle, Tracy,Christine, Kimmy and the rest of the team. For a LONG time, I went to Master Cuts in whatever mall was local. The problem is that about 40% of the time, I would be disappointed with my haircut. Finally, I started going to a high-end barber for $30 a cut. The problem there was the price, and it was extremely hard to find an appointment time (it was a small shop, but extremely good). I started going to Super Cuts at Rivermark about a year ago when I was desperate for a quick cut for an interview. The hair cut was pretty good, so I just kept going back. I've probably been serviced by 5 or 6 of the stylists there, and I've NEVER had a bad haircut. Every time, I'm totally satisfied. The price is about $19, which means there's more cash available to tip! This Super Cuts location is extremely convenient. The wait is never very long, even on the weekend. The location is central and easy to access. The stylists are very skilled and do a great job, and the price is right. read more

I've been getting my hair cut here for a few years. For the most part I'm not ver particular about hair styling. I'm never really chasing down a trendy style or cut. In the end I just want a short, clean cut look. So since I have no need for a fancy cut or style I find Supercuts more than sufficient. Over the years they've been on par for what I expect in a Supercuts shop. I have noticed that most the people who have cut my hair here are not that friendly. Though don't take that as implying that they are mean, which they are not. It's just simply business with them. I also never asked any worker their name there because I never had an experience that I thought was more than just OK. I would just get whoever is available to cut my hair. Because of the non-friendly nature here I was going to give this place 2 stars, but my more recent experiences here w/ Cody have changed all that. Cody has cut my hair here the last 2 times and I've really enjoyed it. He's very friendly, very charismatic, and very interested in his job. He loves "creating my look" which has been a combination of what I want w/ a little touch of what he thinks would look best. I'm also glad he doesn't push any products on me (like the other workers) because he says my hair is best styled w/o product! Thats a suprise to me since almost any other time I had been here there just so happened to be a new product that was "perfect" for my type of hair. To be honest I have never been the type to care about my hair. As long as it's short, cleancut, and easy to manage I'm happy. But for the first time I'm beginning to think about styles and such and what I think Cody can do. If the service continues to be great I expect to update my review with at least 1 more star. read more

There was a group of three people that got the staff jumping, not in a positive fashion. They brought a great deal of negative energy. I have been coming here for years, and this it the first time I saw this issue. I also noticed the up keep of this place has gone down. The carpet is very stained, splatters on the walls and furniture. Is the owner new, or just ignoring the usual upkeep of business management. I would move to another store as I have questioned the up keep of the sanitation as well. But if not for my hairdresser, I would leave. For a place like Rivermark, the owner could do better by and for their hard working staff. Would give 5 stars, but again the store in showing signs of falling apart. read more

For the price you pay to these ladies, the haircuts are good. The ladies are nice and they really try to please their customers. My hair has been cut by several employees there and they all made an effort to understand my needs and had good results. You cannot compare Supercuts to a $100/haircut salon, but for the price, you can actually get a good trim and clean up with satisfaction. And the location is convenient. read more

I just thought that was mostly for men (the clientele were mostly guys, yes) but they also accept women and they offer similar services as in other salons, just faster and cheaper. Good place to go if you need to quick cut or trim. I liked the guy who cut my hair, was nice and fast and did not try to impose another style than merely what I wanted him to do. Lily is awesome. I came in one afternoon on a whim, feeling angry about my hair and wanting to chop it off. At this point my hair was almost down to my butt and I was feeling frenzied. I had no idea what kind of hair cut I wanted, just that I wanted it off. Lily was my hairdresser, and she asked me what I wanted. After blubbering through several choices, we finally settled on a layered cut that would kind of look like hers (I was desperate and really hadn't thought about what my hair would look like). After about 20 minutes of cutting, and detangling my nest of hair, I came out with a lovely layered cut. She gave me a great hair cut, and she was also really nice and chatted with me randomly about various things. Next time I go back will ask for Lily! read more

I personally didn't get a hair cut here but I took my son here as I was sick of him always getting an ugly bowl cut at the kids hair salon! My son loves to get his hair cut as this is the only time I let him have a lollipop and he will sit still while watching a movie on my phone. I have to say for 2 1/2 year old he is doing a pretty good job sitting still and letting the hair dresser cut his hair. Usually at the kids hair salon the ladies cut the children's hair very fast and sometimes it just looks uneven or sloppy. Here at supercust our hair dresser took her time and kept asking me how I want to have his hair cut and how short which I very much appreciated. I am very happy with the outcome and I was also happy that my child was sitting still for the entire time (20min). I will definitely come back with him for another greta hair cut! read more

I am giving this place a 4 star overall only because of Kathy. I give Kathy 5*. Overall I have been going to this place off and on for the past 3 years. As others have stated, this place is hit or miss. Once I got my haircut with Kathy, I would not go to anyone else. She was out on leave for a while and I avoided going there. You can always call ahead and make a reservation, which most people don't know. If you do request someone, make sure to tip them well. First of all I wish Yelp give us the option of no starts or negative because we had an event to assist on Saturday I normally do my husband and son hair but because we thought their will look neat and professionally done they decided to go at 9:00a.m. there was all ready a line and they don't even expent 10 minutes inside with the horrible haircut ever I do a better if a do not studied to do hair . Definitely we aren't coming back even if they offer to do their hair for free . They need to care more about costumer service and make sure the costumers come back instead of just put money in their pockets and they even dare to ask nicely for the tip. I called today and scheduled an appointment for my kid and reached on time. On arriving we were told that we had to wait to get the haircut which was an hour and that it wasn't an appointment but was just a 'call ahead'. But we have always scheduled an appointment for every haircut to avoid long waits with a kid. When trying to find out if they have changed their policies, we were shouted at by one of their employees saying that Supercuts never schedule appointments which wasn't communicated to us when we called. The situation looked like we did not get the service because of the crowd. Supercuts, Rivermark- you get a crowd once in a bluemoon(or a year). Do you even realize you lose a lot of customers because of one bad, rude employee? You need to work on your customer service first and then your haircuts as YOU SUCK BIG TIME!!! read more

Very bad service. I had gone to colour my hair for the first time. Communication is not easy with the stylists. There was a fight amongst them and it was so chaotic. They should not fight in front of the customers. Also the stylist kept complaining that my colouring is taking so much time. By the end of it I was not satisfied. There must have been an ownership change at this location. Since they got rid of all the old stylist and brought in new people. I've been coming here for the past 7 years and getting my hair cut by Cody. However, his no longer there as are the other familiar faces that I used to see. Everybody there is all new. Based on the cut I received, they must have all just graduated from Supercuts training program with zero experience. I would never go back to this Supercuts. For the past 7 years, the days that Cody worked (Tues to Sat), there were always a wait with waiting area full, now, no matter what time you go by, they are empty. No wait what so ever. That tells you something, they are loosing business left and right from people like me. New management at this location deserves to loose all of their old customers when they discharged all of their experienced stylist. read more

This place is horrible. They're really focused on getting you in and out quickly, and selling you shitty overpriced products that you don't need. Very little emphasis is on what you actually ask for. I went in with my 3 yr old to get a trim. They wouldn't let me park her stroller near me, which would have been fine, but then the stylist would not let me face her while he did my cut and my daughter got upset. She spent the entire cut crying for me, while the stylist ignored my multiple requests to turn the chair so I could face her. The shampoo was rough and the chair/bowl extremely uncomfortable, and the cut.... Wow. Awful. He didn't even section the hair. He just kept grabbing big pieces with the comb and snipping without blending them. I said take off an inch and he took closer to 3 in some areas, less in others. The best part was that the sections were so large, big pieces kept falling away as he cut, so he only ended up cutting about a third of my hairs. The pieces he did cut look very choppy and uneven, and my hair is now so short on top that I can't pull it into a ponytail anymore. A simple thirty second consultation to ask about my lifestyle (I jog five miles a day) would have gone a long way to make sure he understood that I need to be able to pull my hair back while running. Now it will be months before I can do this and I have to wear barettes to keep it out of my eyes like my 3 year old does. Save yourself 19 bucks and let a toddler cut your hair with safety scissors. I'm sure it will look just as good. read more
