I called Superheroes Locksmith because they serviced my area and I had locked my keys in my car. The operator took down all my information, and when I asked about pricing, he told me the technician would provide more details. When the technician called, he said he'd arrive in about 40 minutes. I asked again about the cost, and he told me it "usually" runs about $70 plus a $20 service fee. That sounded reasonable, so I agreed. He arrived and unlocked my car in less than five minutes--which I appreciated--but then handed me an invoice for $250. When I questioned the price, he denied ever mentioning $90. I didn't want to escalate the situation, so I paid, but I was incredibly disappointed. I feel misled and overcharged. I would not recommend this company to anyone based on my experience. Shady and scam artists. Don't trust the 5 stars. I locked myself out of my car at the Covina AMC, keys left on the drivers seat. I called them, explained the situation and asked for an estimate, they gave me a weird answer about how they needed to see the car, despite asking me for the year, make and model. Money is tight so I didn't wanna waste either of our time. 40 minutes later their "employee", some random kid, looked like he was coming from home, pulls up. I explain to him the situation and once again ask for an estimate. Money is tight. He brushes me off saying he has to look at the car. $260 he tried to charge me after messing up my door with his balloons. $260 is ridiculous - shouldn't have been more than $50-$150. Luckily my lady and I had a backup plan to uber home and back with our spare - it would've have cost us a total of $60. I tell this man $260 is ridiculous and that I could only do $150. Here's the kicker. He looks at his phone as if speaking w someone, and settles on $150 IF and only IF I leave a good review. At this point my lady loses her cool and starts cursing out the dude cus of the ridiculous pricing. I realized this was a waste of time and tell him that we're just gonna Uber home instead. This guy had the nerve to ask me to pay for "services". WHAT SERVICE. He bulged my door out with his balloon gizmo and did nothing else. Tried to charge me $50 for him just coming out. Ridiculous. Do not trust these reviews. Do not give these scammers business. Suspiciously just as this guy drove away, a "different" locksmith company called me back, after over an hour mind you, and asked what the issue was. I simply hung up. Decided to take the time to leave this to spare anyone else their time and money. And to help you see behind the lying 5 star reviews. If I could leave negative stars. I would. EDIT 19 hours after posting this review and the same review on google, I get a call from the owner attempting to BRIBE me into taking down the review. I was being nice and respectful until he tried to bribe me and called me disrespectful and dishonest for not agreeing to. After that I lost my temper. What is honest and respectful about hiding the truth? Stay AWAY from these SCAMMERS. He threatened to call me nonstop until I took the review down. The company was pretty shady, to the point I'm unaware how they got all these 5 star reviews. I call the company and tell them what's up with the vehicle (missing a lock on my car door, and the doors wouldn't open to the car key unlock button), I give the year make and model and ask for an estimate. For some reason, they can't give you an estimate on the call and state the person seeing the car is gonna give me an estimate. Okay I guess. I told the operator I needed a replacement lock for my car, and when the employee came to work on the car, he stated he had no idea what the estimate would be until he connects his computer to the car? Makes no sense as I already asked for a replacement lock and key and gave them my car info to begin with....... What is even the point seriously wtf is the point of giving them my info over the phone lmao. Long story short, dude gave me a new car key that wasn't able to be programmed to the car (it will turn the car on but the doors will not respond to the key's unlock buttons , but did not address the new lock I stated I wanted for the car! I stated it to the operator for the company as well as the employee when he FIRST showed up. When the job was done I pointed that out to him, and he stated he wasn't able to do this (HE SHOULD HAVE SAID SO BEFORE STARTING THE DAMNED WORK OR ELSE I WOULDN'T HAVE BOTHERED WITH HIM!!!!) I STILL have to go drive to the dealership to pay for a programming and get this issue fixed, this company did NOTHING to help the issue. I am still down $250 with a new car key for a lock I don't have that I wanted changed. Buyers, callers, beware. I would never recommend this company to anyone I know. I repeatedly asked for pricing over the phone, but they insisted on seeing the vehicle in person without providing any estimate. Once on-site, I asked for pricing again, and the technician vaguely said it "won't be a lot" before starting work. Five minutes later, the door was open, and they demanded an outrageous $400. When I challenged the absurd cost, they offered no justification. This predatory pricing takes advantage of unsuspecting customers. Avoid at all costs--dishonest and untrustworthy! If I could give 0 stars I would. I was calling a few locksmiths nearby to try and compare prices just to see who I would be able to afford. I was extremely polite and asked if I could ask a few questions about the services they provide, we were on the phone for less than 30 seconds before the man (who's name I never got but based on caller ID I think I may have a name) started yelling at me asking why I was calling all these locksmiths trying to set up an appointment when they were part of the same company (I called less than 5 and made it clear to each one that I was not trying to set an appointment yet). I tried apologizing and letting him know that I didn't know they were same company as they had different names, phone numbers, and prices but was barely able to get a word in as he kept interrupting and yelling at me. I am often told I overcompensate and am overly nice to people and didn't speak any differently to this man than I do to others so there was no excuse for him to talk to me the way he did. After respectfully saying he was being rude and he had to reason to talk to me that way, I had to just hang up because he would not stop yelling or letting me speak and I started to have an anxiety attack. read more
