Parking is not an issue especially in the morning, can be packed late afternoons at the area near the supermarket. My latest visit happened day before Thanksgiving since my co-worker wanted a chocoflan. The cake was one of their weekly deals so it was perfect timing to buy. In this economy, superior grocers seems to be the only thing we can afford and I thought we were considered decent income earners for California. I wish their quality of protein were better. Got their chicken once and wasn't happy with the freshness and will never go in their butcher section again. This one is actually neater looking and bigger. I think this location used to be a Northgate Market. Mage that's why. Anyway, they give you gloves upon entering, there's sanitizing spray upon entry and exit and the prices are fairly reasonable. Extremely unsanitary. I'll get straight to the point and confess that I've purchased items from the deli section. The employee used the SAME GLOVES (fabric-looking ones, not food grade) to pack my queso fresco block AFTER grabbing my ground meat!! When I went home I made sure to use clean hands to lightly wash my cheese block and pat dry with a paper towel but, needless to say, the cheese was so stinky after only a couple of days I had to throw it out. Wasteful and completely unnecessary. Had they used the appropriate safety measures, this wouldn't have happened. The ground meat, by the way? Had dark desiccated areas that looked unappetizing. I'll also use this opportunity to say that cashiers here will act like you've ruined their day simply by checking out your items. Work here must really suck if they're always in a bad mood. I'm new to Torrance and finally came here. I am familiar with the Mercado Uno Chain. I was pleasantly impressed by this location. It was clean and neat. See the "Latin" stores and I don't have a good connection; but this time was good. Found all the green vegetables I was looking for. The prices were very reasonable in the sections I stuck too. I had an odd experience. I walked in with my mom to go to the Wells Fargo ATM in the store. Since it has been awhile since our last visit, My mom wanted to get prickly pears (in Spanish, it's called Tunas) in the produce section. My mom takes forever doing this, so I decided to wander around the aisles and take some photos for Yelp and me. Now, I had no clue if I wasn't allowed to take photos. If that's the case then, I apologize. But there was this lady ( manager or employee) who saw me and gave an odd look. I said hello and she replied but then dashed away. I let it go, and walk into another aisle. This aisle had Mexican cookies including Gansito cookies. The original Gansitos are like twinkies. So the fact that they now come in the form of cookie was exciting. I was about to take a photo and grab a box to go when that employee comes back and straight up asks me if I work for another company. What? "umm... no?" Then she starts asking me if I was at the store yesterday and other questions like "what are you doing here?" and it made me feel very uncomfortable. But I answered all of her questions politely and she let me go. I went back to my mom who was still picking out tunas, and I told her what happened. She replied that the employee probably thought I was a public health inspector. If I was, I would have said your store is really clean. But, I felt like someone was watching me. And at one point I turned around while placing the tunas in the check out line and there she was staring at me. ummm... ok. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the cashier was nice enough to hold on to the tunas while we made a quick trip to the hospital (we walked to the store from there). This is the market formarly known as Cost Saver! (Hmm with that line, I feel like I'm introducing the artist formarly known as Prince lol). I checked out Numero Uno during one of their grand opening Saturday celebrations and was greated with a loud stereo system blasting music from Maroon 5. Walking in, the happy celebrations continued with free samples of chips and salsa and cheese. I also spotted a huge white teddy bear mascot from one of the bread companies. Aside from all the feel good happenings, I saw lots of great deals here! There were pineapples that were 2 lbs for $1. Oranges that were 7 lbs for $1. The fruit deals were amazing! They also had several good deals with vegetables! I think I will be coming here to get my veggie and fruit needs! Numero Uno also has fresh bakery where they offer different cakes and Mexican breads. I bought some bollilo. They were five for a $1. I got them right as they were brought out from the bakery oven! The bread is so soft and tasty. It's the perfect breakfast bread at the perfect price. The pan dulce offerings here are good deal too! 3 for a $1. Aside from getting my fruits and veggies, I'll be stopping by the bakery once in awhile to get some of their good deals! This was Cost Saver not too long ago and now it is Numero Uno! They adjusted the produce area to look for full and shopper friendly! The entire back wall that use to have boring white shelves have now been replaced with chic black coolers! I can finely buy cold wine! Another change I noticed was they rearranged the produce area around to make it more shopper friendly! I have to start making frequent visits here again to see the contrast! read more

Their slices of tres leches cake sprinkled with Oreo on top, SO YUMMY, and if you're like me and loves the leche...they put a lot! Good customer service. CONS: their meat produce is not good to me, I say that because there's too much fat on everything as if they didn't clean it at all... my husband hates "squishy" meat aka fat LMAO #Childish ... but I hate taking the time to remove it, so I'd go else where doe my meat produce unless you have time to cut off all the fat, extra skin & hairs :/ I went here one time, for a birthday cake, the tres leches, because I like the small so I figured okay great this will be yummy...got home and cut it, there was barely any leche, and it was 3 layers of cake FILLED with whip cream, terrible. Not one of the better locations. There was a lot of not so fresh produce and no stock on certain veggies as well. Customer service is lacking a bit here and def. the cashier clearly did not want to be at work, which I guess happens... but it was very noticeable. Some call it price gouging I call it free market. If you are ok with the price then buy it. If not then don't. However, the prices on the produce are unreal. Such low prices. Sure the fruits and veggies are not very attractive. But they are very affordable and eat just the same. This is where I come to get produce to pickle, can, or dehydrate. And if you like beans they have a nice variety and usually well stocked. They need to work on the prices for the pasta and rice but you can wait for the sales. Plus all that interesting exotic goodies you can find down the aisles. Pastries, cookies, juices, sauces......just go and see for yourself. Don't be afraid if the store does not sparkle. I come here once in a while to buy their marinated asada meat. I have had no problems with the meat and it's always tasted fine and ordering at the butcher's counter has always been a breeze. The sweet bread is really good, so definitely try it out. I avoid shopping for anything else because I've noticed you could find better prices at other stores. The fruit and produce selection is ok but again you could probably find better prices elsewhere. I do appreciate that during the pandemic, they hand you plastic gloves upon entrance and there are a few trash receptacles to dispose of the gloves on your way out. Ahhh. I love this place. They are super close by to my house and I have gone a number of times in the last two weeks while I have been on my tamale-making spree. First off, they have an abundance of fresh produce that is super reasonably price. Tomatillos at 50c a pound on sale, cilantro 4 for $1, 50c a pound jalapenos.. the list goes on. I got Leyva's masa from here, one of the best masas so far I've used to make tamales with, I would highly recommend it to anyone. They have fresh made chicharon sold here too, it's a little salty. They have hot food for sale, but I haven't found anything I liked yet, but worth a try. read more

This place lost major points after my experience yesterday. So I always buy produce here and meat/seafood occasionally. When I purchased shrimp from this market before, it had a bad smell and I didn't bother taking it back since I didn't have the time and it just smelled so bad I couldn't keep it around. Yesterday I purchased 2 packages of chicken wings and when I was taking them out of the car I noticed a smell. The date said that they were packaged that day so I assumed they were fresh. When I got in the house and took the wrapping off of one, the smell was really bad. The other package had no smell at all. I took the bad chicken back to the store and asked the manager to smell it. He didn't smell anything. What?! And neither did the butcher, Come on now! I know bad chicken and even though I got my money back, my concern is that they are selling bad meat to people. I mean I have no reason to lie about meat smelling, nor do I just feel like going back to the store to complain about something that isn't true. My advice is smell your meat even through the package or buy directly from the butcher. I have no plans to buy meat here ever again. read more

Its close to UCLA Harbor. Took a chance because we've been seeing newspaper Ads sent to us with their cheap produce. We ended up filling our cart full of tomatoes, watermelon, rambutan, anything that you desire for cheaper price than high end grocers like Ralph, Albertsons, etc. Best time to come is early in the morning to avoid traffic and foot traffic in store. I'm surprised see their own deli with roteserie chicken for only 5.99. It's costco price basically. Go to Albertsons and its like 10.99 and theyre tiny. They also have mexican menu with rice and two types of meals for 5.99. As an Asian person, it feels weird to be in here. It feels welcoming but at the same time, a lot of the latinos kept staring at us. It's like going to Seafood City and see white people shopping there. But they have so many cheap produce. I would consider coming here now instead of Tambuli or Seafood City. Most of their produce comes frmo south america, like Ecuador, Mexico, etc. Consider coming here if you want to live a healthy lifestyle on a budget. Their fruits are really cheap.
