I had an odd experience. I walked in with my mom to go to the Wells Fargo ATM in the store. Since it has been awhile since our last visit, My mom wanted to get prickly pears (in Spanish, it's called Tunas) in the produce section. My mom takes forever doing this, so I decided to wander around the aisles and take some photos for Yelp and me. Now, I had no clue if I wasn't allowed to take photos. If that's the case then, I apologize. But there was this lady ( manager or employee) who saw me and gave an odd look. I said hello and she replied but then dashed away. I let it go, and walk into another aisle. This aisle had Mexican cookies including Gansito cookies. The original Gansitos are like twinkies. So the fact that they now come in the form of cookie was exciting. I was about to take a photo and grab a box to go when that employee comes back and straight up asks me if I work for another company. What? "umm... no?" Then she starts asking me if I was at the store yesterday and other questions like "what are you doing here?" and it made me feel very uncomfortable. But I answered all of her questions politely and she let me go. I went back to my mom who was still picking out tunas, and I told her what happened. She replied that the employee probably thought I was a public health inspector. If I was, I would have said your store is really clean. But, I felt like someone was watching me. And at one point I turned around while placing the tunas in the check out line and there she was staring at me. ummm... ok. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the cashier was nice enough to hold on to the tunas while we made a quick trip to the hospital (we walked to the store from there). She was super sweet.

This is the market formarly known as Cost Saver! (Hmm with that line, I feel like I'm introducing the artist formarly known as Prince lol). I checked out Numero Uno during one of their grand opening Saturday celebrations and was greated with a loud stereo system blasting music from Maroon 5. Walking in, the happy celebrations continued with free samples of chips and salsa and cheese. I also spotted a huge white teddy bear mascot from one of the bread companies. Aside from all the feel good happenings, I saw lots of great deals here! There were pineapples that were 2 lbs for $1. Oranges that were 7 lbs for $1. The fruit deals were amazing! They also had several good deals with vegetables! I think I will be coming here to get my veggie and fruit needs! Numero Uno also has fresh bakery where they offer different cakes and Mexican breads. I bought some bollilo. They were five for a $1. I got them right as they were brought out from the bakery oven! The bread is so soft and tasty. It's the perfect breakfast bread at the perfect price. The pan dulce offerings here are good deal too! 3 for a $1. Aside from getting my fruits and veggies, I'll be stopping by the bakery once in awhile to get some of their good deals! Numero Uno has some numero uno prices!

This was Cost Saver not too long ago and now it is Numero Uno! They adjusted the produce area to look for full and shopper friendly! The entire back wall that use to have boring white shelves have now been replaced with chic black coolers! I can finely buy cold wine! Another change I noticed was they rearranged the produce area around to make it more shopper friendly! I have to start making frequent visits here again to see the contrast!

MEDIOCRE Mexican food. I had Chili Relleno from Numero Uno Market in Torrance. Not as good as a regular restaurant. So won't be back.

Somewhere in between the Korean Friendship Bell and Korea Town in Los Angeles, but not exactly right next to either. My goal was to go check out Erewhon and all the smoothies and artisanal popcorn that celebrities and food influencers rave about online, but the Torrance H-Mart was an interesting destination in itself. I had to really restrain myself from buying everything that I wanted. I ultimately bought: 1. The Hojicha Tea Black Chocolate from Japan (the brand is Meiji) 2. The Green KitKats (Extra Matcha Tea Chocolate from Japan). 3. The Hanyul Hand Cream (I bought three - Chrysanthemum, Artemisia, and Ja Cho). They smell amazing and keep my hands moisturized. Southern California is so dry compared to Northern California. Ja Cho is Lithospermum Erythrorhizon root extract. 4. The Innisfree Green Tea face mask. 5. The Esfolio Volcanic Ash face mask. It's perfect for dry skin, and creates a healty glow. I asked the lady working there if the Volcanic Ash was from Jeju Island. She had no idea. I bought it anyway because it sounded interesting. 6. The Innisfree Volcanic Clay Mask. I know for a fact that this clay is sourced from Jeju Island, and I've been buying this product for years. Cleans up the sporadic acne flare up fast! It's perfect for combination skin without drying skin too much. They have vegan jerky, Sriracha mayo, and Kimchee Ketchup. I can buy that at any H-Mart, I think, so I didn't buy any of that. I wanted to explore so much more, but so much to do and so little time.

You go in for what you know, and that already gets you caught up, but then you also want to try something new because there's always something new to try. Sometimes it's a gamble, sometimes it's amazing and you're like "OMG! I need this every time," and sometimes you're like "what was that?" And you really don't know what it was because the descriptions aren't in English. The staff is always super friendly. If you go for hot food during lunchtime, you will get caught up because you'll want to pile your plate high and forget they weigh it & you can easily end up with a $24 plate on top of all your groceries. They have great sweet treats that aren't super high in sugar, which is a plus. Their ramens are my favorite. I've probably tried every one. My favorite is the one with the black pieces in it (I think they're mushrooms). I still haven't tried the mushrooms, but the creamy broth mix is everything. Their sparkling sodas are always delicious. My favorite is the Hello Kitty strawberry one. I told all my friends about it, and me and my sister go regularly. My sister loves the banana milk! Definitely recommend!

They have a lot of premade food options. Some are decently priced and some are on the pricier side…read more If you go at 7pm or latter they do mark down the sushi and other premade food by 20% off. The thing that's good about going to Tokyo central for premade sushi is that they make all their sushi fresh daily and what's not sold is marked down and got rid of before next day compared to other markets where they sell their sushi that's like 2-4 days old. They went viral for awhile for having a hot food bar, which looked like a buffet but in reality you grab what you want but it's $15.99 a pound. The pound adds up really quick and you end with paying like $30. The food isn't that great in the hot food bar in my option so I'd skip it. The market itself is very pricey it's not a cheap market. So if your planning on buying grocery your gonna pay high prices. I'd go here for a quick sushi roll or some mochi they sell a bag from Japan for $3.99 with red bean that's pretty good. One of my favorite food item is the umami chicken karage with rice that's pre packaged and if you can snag it while it's still hot that great. Its usually on a separate table on in the refrigerated section, It's the one with some teriyaki sauce over it, not the regular one. As you exit you can grab utensils, napkins, wasabi. ginger, soy sauce. Parking is a hit and miss, it's a popular market if you go there at lunch time it's packed or weekends. Personally I drop by to get a quick bite, sushi roll or chicken karage . They do have a food court that has a Japanese bakery, takoyaki , a katsu place. Upstairs they have a sushi bar which is unique I havnt tried it but seems a bit pricey but looks like quality. Looking for something Japanese in food wise, this would be one of the places to go to look for it. I don't know why it seems like every Asian market I've been to is so cramped and hardly any space when trying to get around with a cart. It's the same here.t
