    Originai Beef & Potato Croquette
    Patricia L.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and seeing the good reviews on Yelp, I finally went and enjoyed it! It's a small restaurant located inside a plaza with plenty of parking available. I wouldn't recommend bringing a big group unless you don't mind being split up. There's usually a wait but was able to sit at the bar. We got the Omurice with Hamburg Steak in the demiglace sauce. The sauce looked very dark but it actually paired well with everything. We also tried the Curry Rice with Pork Cutlet. The pork was crispy and juicy and the curry was delicious. The portions were also pretty good for the value. Overall, would definitely come back and try their other dishes!

This place was really yummy! Wasnt too busy on a Saturday evening for dinner. We got a omurice + pork katsu ($21) and a large kobe beef don ($30) FYI they do require that each person have either an entree or a drink, and that rule is enforced. The food came out super fast, the pork katsu was yummy! Loved the spicy sauce it came with, it wasnt too spicy at all. The only thing is one of my slices was 100% fat, and the pork seperated from the breading which made it hard to eat. The kobe don was the highlight though honestly. The beef was so tender, and the sauce and evrrything mixed into the rice was sooooo good. I would def get that next time, its worth the splurge! Def a solid spot, would come back!

This place is my go-to place for curry omurice in Torrance! The restaurant is very unassuming, inside a large strip mall with a Japanese market. However, the wait can be fairly long, depending on the time that you go, so I definitely suggest getting there as they open or a little before usual meal times. The inside is fairly small and cozy with bar seating available. The staff if also quite tiny, with two servers and a couple chefs. The food they make in that tiny kitchen is absolutely extraordinary! The roast beef don was great, but the real star of the show, imo, was the Omu-curry rice with katsu. Give this place a shot the next time you're in town!

Parking: plenty & free They have a decent flow of customers and their restaurant itself isn't that big, but their turnover rate is relatively quick. I love their simple, but cozy interior which makes you feel welcomed. They specialize in beef dons, but they also got curry & omelets. We ordered their beef bowls, and it was worth every dollar! The beef was cooked to my preference and the demi-glace sauce was a nice addition to the meat and rice. Highly recommend trying them out!

Stopped by here on Memorial Day and luckily it was still open! I called many times to make sure they were open, but they weren't picking up the phone... so we took by chance and visited here and it was indeed open on a holiday. There was only one main server taking orders, serving, and cleaning up, so she was very busy. She's definitely rushing all over the place. The restaurant is quite small, so expect a wait when it does get a bit later. We came around 5:30, just 30 minutes after they opened and we still had to wait a bit after the first wave of customers. Once we were seated, we decided to order the American Sliced Beef Don (small size) and the gyutan plate. We were uncertain if the beef don would be good so we went with a small, but wow we should have gotten a large cause it was so good! The beef was extremely soft and the sauce all around tasted really good with the rice and all. The beef tongue was also pretty nice, but a bit tough for me, wish it was more soft chewy! Although, overall flavor was really nice. The beef don especially was really good. There's also a Arcadia location but the prices seem a tad bit cheaper here. So luckily we stopped by at this location to try it for the first time.

Not knowing LA has Red Rock and I've been wanting to try this place for like forever. Seeing one of my friends posting it and got uberly excited that it's available here. Tons of the reviews mentioned great things about it as well, so no wonder when we reached on Saturday lunch time, there were around 5 people on the wait list. It fortunately moved relatively quickly especially as we're willing to take counter seat and there were only 2 of us. The venue did have decent amount of seats, but certainly would be tougher for bigger group. Their signature dish was certainly the Sliced Beef Don, yep that one that looked like Volcano. We got it with extra raw egg topping. Along side, we got extra Chicken Kaarage. The beef was juicy and tender, but the flavor itself mostly was on the rice given the sauce was more mixed into the rice. It was luscious, but probably I set too high of expectation that I wasn't like blown away. In fact, the kaarage got me hooked more with unique batter coating and super juicy chicken. For the prize, the portion was pretty generous and I could confidently say that if I came back, I would doubtlessly order this again.

US-Kobe American Sliced Beef Don (Roasted Beef Don)

I've actually been here twice. My first time was with my friends. They treated me for my birthday and I finally got to try the American Sliced Beef Don. I'm a picky eater to be honest, so trying this food was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I really really liked it. The sauce in the meat made it really good for me. Also, ordered the potato and beef croquettes that they have. That was great as well. Had to come back with my bf the second time, cause this was also on his list to try. And didn't disappoint him. We ordered the same thing and also added the potato bacon salad (from what I remember). He really liked that one. We rated this place as 8.5 out of 10.

This was my third time ordering the sliced roast beef. The first two times I had it, it was excellent, which made this visit especially disappointing. This time the meat looked different and had far too much sauce on it. There was a dark soy-based sauce that was much more noticeable than before. On my previous visits, the white sauce was the main added flavor and the darker sauce was minimal. This time the dark sauce dominated the dish and changed the flavor. The meat quality was also different than previous visits. It was chewy pieces and had a lot more connective tissue. One piece was so chewy that I eventually had to spit out a large amount of connective tissue. At that point I was no longer enjoying the meal. I really do not like returning food, but this dish was not good, so I sent it back. The waitress spoke with the chef and later told me it was "the same as always," but that was not my experience at all considering how much I enjoyed it on my previous visits. Instead, I ordered the 7 oz galbi set. It came with rice, miso soup, kimchi and bean sprouts. The kimchi and sprouts were delicious. The miso soup was extremely plain with only green onions and no tofu or seaweed, so I mostly skipped it. The galbi had a nice beefy, fatty flavor, but it was extremely chewy and over half of it was fat or connective tissue, so I would not recommend it. The rice was fine. I also tried the beef and potato croquette, which I really liked. Despite the disappointing food this visit, I still appreciated parts of the atmosphere. The relaxing music, comfortable chairs, and responsive waitress made the experience more pleasant overall.

Small place located inside a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking available and near Nijiya market. Busy immediately after opening and could be some waiting time so make sure to put your name on the waiting list and don't go far as they call the next guest from the door. Prices are fair to the quality served and portions are in good amounts. I ordered the 7oz option (large) and to be honest I was full before finishing so I worked my way through it. Didn't want to leave it behind ( mottainai ). Clean and natural flavors on the meat, I liked it that way! I would definitely return soon!

Omu Style- Katsu Curry & Rice
    Sandy L.

Red rock is a Japanese restaurant known for their curry and roast beef! Love that they offer spicy curry now. The spice level is not adjustable. Not too spicy. I would say it's a level 3. Omurice is just white rice with an egg on top of it. Some other restaurants season and fry the rice with veggies but this is just classic white rice rice. Rib eye was good but not sure if it's worth $41 though.

The food was delicious! Great quality and very filling but a bit pricey My partner & I usually get the spiced beef but I wanted to try something new & I'm glad I do! I was pretty surprised by the beef patty & how much I liked it! It might be our new favorite. It was so tender & the curry had so much flavor

    Amy L.

Steak was yummy and tender and curry was rich and flavorful! Service was quick and parking was easy (Sunday ~11:30am). Will come back for more of the steak :)

This is our go-to spot for my wife and me. We love the peaceful atmosphere--it's exactly the kind of vibe we enjoy. The food is fantastic every time we visit. We ordered the omu garlic rice with pork cutlet and demi-glace sauce, and the demi-glace was absolutely delicious. It's honestly the best demi-glace we've ever had. We also tried the American sliced beef don, which was excellent as well. It has a unique flavor that's different from other beef bowls, but in the best way. Everything was flavorful, and we'll definitely keep coming back!

How's the prices here? From 1-10, 10 being expensive, 1 being super cheap (which I know that this place is not).

    ~$25 for a quick lunch.

    Do they take reservations?

    No. Food court style eating

    Any outdoor seating?

    nope

When are they going to start indoor sitting?

I ate inside on Saturday 6/19/21! It was great & they're so safe!

    Sit down dining open yet?

    Yes

Is to go order finally available?

Yes! You can order online or go up to the window and order takeout.

Has anyone successfully ordered delivery from this restaurant? Tried twice weeks apart and both times had the order cancelled.

They've been closed since early May. The only location they have open is their location in Japan. You can check their Instagram profile for updates, but they're really sparse!

Is red rock still open during covid? I wonder if they changed to take out during this time?

Actually according to their new update from their Instagram account they are not open. Only the Japan location is open not the two CA locations. It even says they are closed as of 4/7 on the yelp page. Not sure why delivery available is added on…

Are there any gluten free options?

you can get the steak by itself without the sauce that will probably contain gluten.

Does anyone know if they use MSG in their marinade? I enjoyed the food here and would like to bring family but some in my family have MSG allergies (throat closes up and face swells). I've tried calling but no one answers.

Don't really know if this is a troll post or the op is seriously misinformed about "msg".

Can we order to go? Edit: they said no when I arrived

I called and they said no take out.

Can you request the meat be cooked longer? Or is that against policy?

You can for the steak don and ribeye steak, but not the slice beef don because the slice beef is roasted as a whole and not individually cooked like the steaks.

My chicken thigh set was a well balanced meal, with miso soup, pickles, cabbage, and edamame. It was only sad that the star of the show, the chicken itself fell short of my expectations. The first bite into surprisingly soft and wet potato starch breading shocked me, and while the overall flavor of the chicken won me over, I did think there had to be something wrong with my order. Thankfully one of the pieces was a bit crispy so I got the experience I was supposed to have, but I don't think I got the full Gaburi flavor. I always noticed they sponsor a lot of the local baseball teams, but for whatever reason, I never stopped in. After a park day, my daughter's friend's family suggested we grab a bite here, and I happily invited myself along. Let's just say I'll definitely be back! I honestly didn't know what to expect. I was preparing myself for some bland, unseasoned chicken, but wow I was completely wrong. These wings are packed with flavor. I ordered my favorite, the lemon pepper wings with blue cheese dressing, and they were absolutely delicious. The wings were a great size, juicy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. For my four-year-old daughter, I kept it simple and ordered the baby nuggets without the toppings. They came with a basket of fries, and she loved every bite. They also have self-serve flavored lemonade, which was a huge hit. She chose strawberry, and I completely fell in love with the mango lemonade. The restaurant is located right next to Chicken Maison, and I believe they may be sister companies because the bags had the Chicken Maison logo on them. I've had Chicken Maison catered at work before and loved it, so that made perfect sense. There are still so many things I want to try. The mango habanero wings are definitely next on my list, and honestly, I may end up working my way through every flavor. They also serve chicken and waffles all day, along with chicken tenders and kid-friendly options. We dined inside on a Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was pleasant, there was plenty of parking, outdoor seating available, and my daughter and her friend had a great time. The name says "Top Tenders," and after my first visit, I can confidently say they earned that title. The fact that they're within walking distance of my house might become a real problem for me! If you're looking for flavorful wings, fresh chicken tenders, or a family-friendly spot to grab a meal, check this place out immediately.
