Went here for brunch with a party of 10 and got there right when they opened. We tried a lot of different plates at our table and everything was delicious. They have some unique brunch options. The breakfast risotto was my personal favorite. The breakfast pizzas were good but definitely heavy on the salt. Eggs that were served on both the eggs Benedict and the Breakfast Rissoto were very under cooked. The whites of the eggs were not even set. The bacon in both dishes was practically raw and inedible. Presentation and vibe at this restaurant are very good. I did find it to be quite expensive, verging on overpriced for food quality. Pasta was a bit mushy and greasy and not as much flavor as I would've expected. The risotto balls/ sauce were very good. Definitely large portions though! Came here for dinner second night in a row. We are in town dropping our son off at school. The food is so delicious. And the customer service is excellent. The appetizers are so good and there is a good variety to select from. The pasta selections are great and they all taste delicious. Our waitress Hannah was so professional and courteous. She was also patient with our questions. Tonight's manager, Taylor did an awesome job. He made sure to make his rounds and check on our table. He also was very courteous. Service was great, food is awesome. Shocked the place isn't busier but it was Father's Day. The pasta is to die for. The sauce is amazing. So much flavor in the dish. This is my second time here, first time was for a pasta class which was a lot of fun and the meal that went along with that (eggplant parm make it vodka) was amazing. You can tell the pasta is fresh. Drinks were great, I got the mimosa flight and a screw driver. The only thing we weren't huge in was the pizza. It was good but not sure id get it again. Will def be back here tho! read more

Great atmosphere for a friend's dinner! Our waitress was very attentive and the timing of the meal progressed at a good pace. For appetizers we had the Brussel sprouts and broccolini. The brussel sprouts with bacon were delicious but the broccolini was overcooked so had no flavor. For an entree, I had the eggplant Parmesan in vodka sauce and it was a huge portion and delicious. 8 out of the 10 guests in our party took home leftovers. read more

I loved my experience at Olives and Oil in New Haven the ambiance of the restaurant was so cool and I loved the brick interior. The staff was so nice and gave great recommendations and answered all of our questions honestly. They brought out bread with olive oil (were even thoughtful enough to ask if anyone wanted it without red pepper flakes which I appreciated because I hate spicy food.) I tried the cinnamon crunch toast espresso martini and it was amazing. The drink menu had a lot of options, including an espresso martini flight which I thought was fun. Food was absolutely amazing with giant portions. I got the bottomless tortellini which was fresh made with ricotta cheese filling (I was nervous was going to be super heavy) but it was fresh, light and delicious. I started with the vodka sauce for the first round and moved to the Alfredo pesto on round 2 from the waiter's recommendation and it was 10/10. Another entree we ordered was the chicken Parmesan and it was massive, they gave a great portion of delicious chicken and the sauce was so good. First, I definitely recommend getting a reservation. The place was absolutely packed on the Friday I went. The service was great, even with all of the people there. The wine was tasty and the food was excellent! The pasta was cooked al dente and the bolognese was very rich but the ricotta on it balanced the flavor perfectly. It was our 1st time here. We appreciated the last min accommodation for my daughter's birthday...party of 4. However, is was uncomfortably hot and humid in the restaurant. The way the ice was served left a sweaty mess of water all over the table, menus, & our stuff. No napkins or spoon for sauce or pasta. Had to ask for a spoon w my spaghetti, therefore you can tell it's not authentic Italian cuisine. My favorite, cacio e pepe was served so salty I couldn't take more than 2 bites. Drinks were average. We stopped in after a show and were immediately seated without reservations. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays. We were seated at one of their booths, but they had high top tables and bar seating as well. I started with the butternut squash soup which was the best part of my meal. I really enjoyed of, especially with the day being so cold. For my entree I had the steak with garlic butter which was cooked at a perfect medium rare. We're back for the second time and the food and overall experience was even better. This time, we tried the burrata salad, which was a perfect summertime starter. We also ordered the summer special Sangria. I always expect Sangria to be too sweet for my palate, but this one had great fruit, citrus and basil flavor with a nice dry finish. Hannah was once again our server and she is just as friendly, helpful and pleasant as our first visit. (Congrats on your first year anniversary, Hannah!) I swear every time I come to Olives and Oil it is even better than my last visit! Easy to get a reservation on a Saturday night and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and on top of refilling our waters which was greatly appreciated. Solid cocktails, the olive salad is delicious, and the garlic flavor in their Prettier in Pink pizza was fantastic. My go to is their chicken picatta but I swap out grilled chicken for their chicken cutlet which is 10/10. My husband and I stopped in when the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We were seated by the most delightful woman who gave me a lot of recommendations. First, I had a house Old Fashion that was the best I ever had. It had a touch of sweetness and was not sour at all. It was also presented nicely. My husband had a Jack Daniels on ice which was a nice pour. Appetizer was amazing! Best Brussel sprouts I've ever had. Brussels are so often over cooked and charred. These were flaky, but not overcooked. The bacon was done perfectly. Again, crispy but not burned. It had a slight sweet balsamic and topped with Parmesan, not overdone, just a slight flavor. This is where it went a little down hill. My husband got the steak and asked for it medium. It came out well done. It was still very tender and the flavor was very good. The potatoes that came with it were utterly amazing. But, the side salad of balsamic tomatoes and cucumbers was sooo delicious. Both the waitress and the hostess recommended the vodka sauce, so I ordered the chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce. The graciously made my chicken grilled instead of fried. This is where they lost me. The chicken was overcooked. I'm not a fan of thick spaghetti, but it was done perfectly. The vodka sauce, however, was not good. I felt like I was eating a cross between tomato soup and spaghetti-o sauce. It wasn't inedible, but it was not great, and very, very heavy. With how they raved about it, I thought it was going to be delicious. The service was amazing. They worked ad a team and EVERYONE was super friendly. I was between 3-4 stars and I gave 4 because the drinks were very good. The place had amazing murals and a great vibe. But overall, the overall nice staff won me over! read more

We held our wedding ceremony and reception here last month and it could not have been more perfect!! Brittney did an amazing job coordinating everything for us and was so attentive, communicative, and so helpful with curating everything for the day. On the day of our wedding, Deon, Kelsey, and all of the Olives & Oil staff that were working that night were the absolute best. Everyone complimented the food and drinks -- and still are a month later. We are constantly dreaming about some of the menu items we picked (especially the housemade vodka pasta, arancini, and pork belly bites). The atmosphere of the restaurant is so inviting and different than a lot of other restaurants in the area. It was absolutely perfect for our small wedding party. Thank you so much to the whole team for making our day so special and wonderful! We will definitely be back to New Haven and will have to make this restaurant a regular stop when we do. read more

Yesterday was a disappointment. At over $50PP plus a minimum mandatory 20% tip, one would have expected the food to at least be hot. Scrambled eggs..cold. Poached eggs..cold. Salmon looked dry and unappealing. Sodas cost extra, only juice and coffee included. It was supposed to be a congratulatory celebration and a mother's day coming from out of town and left wanting more. The service was non-existent. When my husband requested another drink, he had to follow up with the waitress and her response was "I'll check on it". They were not busy. I understand why. I have had pleasant a la carte experiences there, so I was truly disappointed by this experience. I would discourage anyone from going to their brunches and stick to their menu options. read more

They are most known for their espresso martinis! However, I wasn't really in the coffee mood so I decided to get the next popular option: the notorious pig. The drink was the perfect balance of alcohol and sweetness. It also came with a cute little keep pig! For an appetizer my partner and I got the bread with garlic spread and it was sooo good! The bread was so fresh and the garlic spread butter, chefs kiss. For entrees I got the chicken parmigiana with vodka cause and my partner got the rigatoni ala vodka. The homemade pasta was super good, bouncy and chewy with a little bite. However, both dishes were a little under salted. That would be our only critique of this place. The service was just okay, but the ambiance was vibey. I loved the decor. Overall, I would come again, especially for happy hour. read more

Their meatballs over polenta is pretty good. The sauce ratio is perfect and it's very filling. The little pigs throughout the restaurant's decor and behind the bar are super cute. To start, we tried the calamari that was buttery soft melt in your mouth delicious, maybe some of the best that I've ever had. Hannah, our server, brought a basket of bread with oil which was unique and delicious as well. I tried the Notorious P.I.G. drink which was tasty and came with their signature little pink pig toy floating in it. Cute, and the drink was delicious- perfect for a summer night. Met my daughter here for belated birthday brunch. I was immediately greeted at the door and was told I couldn't be seated until my full party got there. I was directed to the bar area. They really need a waiting area it was awkward waiting around in the bar. My daughter got there and we were seated. Unfortunately there was a big group of people next to us celebrating an engagement or something. They were ridiculously loud and obnoxious. One of them through their napkin and it hit me in the head. The staff did nothing to get them to settle down which was upsetting. It made for an uncomfortable experience and I couldn't even hear my daughter talking across from me. My husband knew I wanted to try this restaurant and he made reservations for the Mother's Day brunch. We arrived for our 11:30am time and were told we could only sit at a high table. My husband explained that due to his handicap, he was unable to sit at this particular table. The staff said we were welcome to wait 45 minutes for a table when we could see two booths available. We asked for the booth and said would have to ask the manager. Meanwhile there was no where for my handicap husband to sit and wait. The manager came and said even though we had a reservation and two booths were empty, they were for parties of 4-6. We found this unacceptable and not accommodating to handicap people The manager then asked my husband what he wanted him to do. We asked for the booth but again were refused. My husband then said , give me $100 and we will be on our way. He said, no, what else do you want, you can wait 45 minutes? My husband said you asked? The manager gave him $100 and we went across the street and was treated with the respect we deserved. I was appalled that the staff was not sympathetic to his disability. read more
