We had our first cooking class experience and had a memorable time. We were welcomed with a coffee by the retail staff that were friendly and assisted during our shopping experience by answering questions on various products. Chef Wendy and James provided an educational experience on new recipe and cooking techniques while also highlighting on cool new products we purchased. Great staff and we had a wonderful time meeting new people. The food was as delicious...we look forward to recreating the dishes at home. Thank you. We will be back!

Date night experience! I went to the Ann Arbor location because the one on Troy is always booked up. I really enjoyed the experience here. Kudos to Chef Gabby from Venezuela. We cooked a Steak dinner with a side salad and oven roasted potatoes. (I've made the same salad at home a few times)... the session is about 2hrs. There wasn't many people the night we went. My only critique is for the price of the class, I was alittle upset that 2 couples had to share a steak and sides. We literally left there and had dinner because the portion was so small. I guess it's the experience that really matters.. anyway cool date night idea!

A friend and I signed up for the 'Perfect Patio Dinner' class, led by Aeisha. She was an excellent instructor. I'm a long time cook and finally learned how to make a great risotto and grill salmon. Her enthusiasm was contagious and her ability to communicate techniques and 'the why' behind them was very helpful. We left the class eager to sign up for more of her classes. As a note, this is my third Sur La Table cooking class in a span of 3 years and probably the best yet.

Came here for the first time with my sils to take the "A Taste of India" cooking class. We were split up into groups of 4 to cook the different dishes together. Although the class was 2hrs long, it felt much shorter than that because it was so fast paced. I wish that we had a little more time so that we could actually make each of the dishes in our groups. The instructor made the ginger ice cream and the basmati rice while we made the butter chicken, saag paneer and curry cauliflower/sweet potatoes in our groups. All of the food turned out delicious and they also had pea and potato samosas as snacks when we first arrived (i would have loved to get the recipe for the samosas but that wasn't included). I'd like to add that while this class states we'll be having a "tasting" at the end and quite a few reviews i read say that you get small sample-sized portions, we actually made quite a bit of food today. Enough where each group had leftovers from their dishes afterwards. One thing that I didn't like was that we were told we weren't allowed to take any of our leftovers home, the instructors collected the leftovers from each group and put them into containers- not sure what they were planning to do with them as i am not a fan of letting food go to waste, but it would have been nice to take some of what we had leftover home. Overall, I thought it was a fun experience and I also enjoyed seeing all of the neat kitchen supplies in the store.

I am no "Master Chef" nor wannabe (Bobby Flay would kick my sorry backside to Pluto) but I am always trying to improve my cooking technique. I have taken several cooking classes at this location. Every class has been a delight; the students use nice equipment and I got some good ideas on what to buy for my kitchen. I have enjoyed learning how to cook different types of ethnic cuisines. I particularly recommend the knife technique class. Not only did they teach me a way of NOT cutting off my finger (as well as other valuable appendeges) but how to use the knife more efficiently. Most people just grab a knife and start hacking away but proper knife selection and technique are often misunderstood. You would be shocked at what people will use to cut their food. One student instinctively grabbed a bread knife to cut vegetables (WTF?) until the instuctor showed him the error of his ways! Okay, now I know where the Costco sampling moochers go when they are not blocking the aisles! They take a cooking class at Sur la Table! When the class makes food when learning, there is enough for everyone to have a *taste* (appetizer portion). Apparently some people expect to be fed whole dinners! Damn! Leave a few crumbs for the rest of us! I nearly fell over when a student asked where the dinner dining room was located! SMH... If you want a full meal, dine at Bigalora next door or Zola Bistro across the lot; both are excellent although I always forget to check-in as I am constantly hangry. Take the class handout with recipies home and make your meal there! Class is not "feeding time at the trough"! This one class member probaby did not appreciate me calling out "soo wee" as she was trying to stuff her face with most of the food the class made! Instructors are knowledgeable, patient (especially when dealing with Wolfgang Puck wannabes), and speak clearly. They created a positive attitude of experimentation, fun, and cooperation (I am on the fence regarding dealing with these food-hogging Costco moochers but I'll try to take the high road). I enjoy seeing technique demonstrations via the tilted overhead mirrors. Be sure to go online to check out their monthly class calendar and enjoy improving your cooking! Live to eat instead of eating to just live! Enjoy and see you there! -EBS

Took the Rustic Bread Making class here on a Saturday morning with some friends. We were greeted with coffee and cappuccino as soon as we got here. Hit the spot at 9am. There were some late stragglers so we got started a bit late (more time to drink my coffee). :) Aprons, recipes everything else you needed were provided. We broke into two groups and got to work. Everything was prepped, premeasured and washed up after for you making this an easy class. The whole experience reminded me of baking with my mom as a kid, when my siblings and I took turns pouring into the bowl. The final product could be tasted and brought home after by all in the class. IMO, This class was more of a show than an actual cooking class and that's ok. $59 for a three hour class and 10% discount on any purchase you make that day was a deal. .

Each one of…read morethe properties had unique areas that needed to be addressed and I explained all of this with the operator each time. Every time the crews cleaned I was nothing but satisfied even receiving text messages from the cleaners asking if they should take care of different items that I didn't address in the conversation. When they arrived at each address I was notified and was given a text 10 minutes prior them leaving if I would like to come and evaluate their work. I have to say I've been really impressed and I was hesitant to call because of the reviews. I would like to state that I made them aware of what my expectations were in the beginning for each property. You can not expect a house cleaning company to do a deep clean when you did not request these services. I also would be pissed if I was supposed to come clean your home and you were too lazy to clean up your flour and dishes from making cookies. That's just beyond disrespectful for the cleaners who would also be human beings just like yourself. I would've gave them five but there was a tiny billing issue of which was corrected immediately.

Took photos and sent them to the home office. That was two weeks ago and I have not received any communication from them. My home is lived in. Sprouting Chefs is new to the Ann Arbor area, and offers hands-on cooking classes for children and teens ages 8-16. Reasonably priced at $45 a session and conveniently located in the spacious kitchen of the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Scio Church Road, Sprouting Chefs offers attendees the chance to make new and theme based meals in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Throughout the 2 1/2 hour class, Lilian and an assistant provided supervision and instruction to the students, as they moved through all of the steps to make three age appropriate, yet creative menu items. In the class my daughter attended, they made a cucumber salad, homemade Southern-style macaroni and cheese, and mixed berry shortcakes with lemon curd. Completely at ease with the children, Lilian infused the class with instruction on technique, such as how to properly hold a knife; kitchen rules, such as to always say "behind" when you are coming behind someone with boiling water or a hot pan; and nutrition information, such as information on the differences between organic, locally grown and conventional produce. At the end of the class, which included a generous tasting of all the dishes, my daughter and her friends left with a take home bag of the dishes they had prepared and a recipe booklet so that they could make the recipes at home with their families. The girls had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend the class to other children and teens who enjoy and want to learn more about cooking.

Bottom line: I do not recommend KSI and do not plan to hire them ever again. Read on for more…read moredetails. The design process was relatively easy - I sent the designer photographs of the bathroom, dimensions that I provided, and a Pinterest inspo page that I created to reflect our design taste. From these, she created a project proposal with estimate. My husband and I appreciated the level of service early in the process compared to other companies we contacted, felt comfortable with our quote, and decided to move forward with KSI. After this, there was a brief visit to our home by the designer and contractor to confirm measurements. A visit to the KSI showroom finalized our cabinetry, flooring, and counter selections. You will not be able to buy lighting or plumping fixtures from KSI and you will be sent elsewhere. If you want a high level of service with your designer, that will not happen with KSI - They do not accompany you on these trips or provide input. The designer was responsive throughout the process, but I do feel like she was overly busy sometimes and I did feel like her attention to detail was sometimes lacking. While the design process was relatively easy - Maybe a 3 star process - The actual renovation was 1 star and absolutely the reason that we will never use KSI again. The project was originally estimated to take 3-4 weeks... Actual time: 2.5 months. The workers consistently showed up late in the day - mostly after 4pm - if at all, and made it clear that we were their last priority. When confronted about the delays, which were absolutely due to short work hours and no show days, the contractor became defensive and extremely difficult to communicate with thereafter with long stretches of no responses to questions and ludicrous excuses. It was extremely distressing because other work that was being done on our home needed to be delayed multiple times, while we waited for the bathroom to be finished. We had to have some return visits for very subpar work, mostly related to improper wall preparation and painting, but overall, the workmanship was fine. Even after the work has been done almost a month, we are still waiting for the designer to make her final visit where final billing will be given. She says that the delay is because they are waiting on a gift basket. Really?! This must be some gift basket! I cannot wait to be truly done with KSI. This was a trial run for other projects we want done, including large projects of kitchen and master bathroom remodel, and I would love to say that KSI will miss our business but I am not sure that they even care or will notice.

When everything was installed it still took me several days of work to get it to look right. We went with a different company for our kitchen remodel.
