Picked up the knives all sharpened and on the clearance isle I found an ornamental loaf pan and look forward to baking. Oh and got a few frosting tips. There was a cooking class that was jam packed eager people preparing some sort of shrimp dish. It's been years since I took a class there but you should put that in your to do list. Shop here often, and love it. They always have exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to cooking, baking, or small kitchen appliances. I love that they make me a Flat White with the Jura when I walk in, and that they've mastered the balance between giving space to browse and being available when I need help. Their selection is great, though on the pricier side, but you can still find some well-priced items depending on what you're after. I usually come in with a specific goal, but I've found myself happily browsing more than once. I love their seasonal aprons and kitchen towels. I've never attending a cooking class here, so I can't review those. read more

This class was an absolute win. Rebecca surprised me with a Sur La Table cooking class in Southlake for Christmas, and it turned out to be one of my favorite gifts. Great experience, great food, and zero pressure. Just learning, cooking, and eating. Hard to beat that. Our instructor, Chef Michael, was fantastic. Knowledgeable without being preachy, confident without being arrogant, and genuinely fun to learn from. He explained the "why" behind what we were doing, not just the steps, which made the whole class more engaging and useful. We learned how to make lobster risotto that was rich, creamy, and surprisingly approachable. He also walked us through a fresh salad with a maple vinaigrette that was simple but elevated, and we finished with a perfectly cooked New York strip topped with a herb compound butter that brought everything together. The class was relaxed, interactive, and delicious from start to finish. You cook real food, learn techniques you can actually use at home, and then sit down and enjoy what you made. No rushing, no stress, just a really good experience. Highly recommend this class, whether you're a confident home cook or someone who just wants to learn a few new skills. We will absolutely be back. The Italian cooking class is next on my list, and I'm already looking forward to it. read more

Also never received a reminder email until I received an email after the class asking how my experience was. A group of us attended a cooking class here as part of a friend's birthday celebration. During our class we made fresh pasta and a ragu, along with a delicious salad and dessert. The food turned out delish and we all enjoyed ourselves for the most part. I didn't care for the speed at which everything needed to happen. I grew up in a restaurant and while I don't consider myself a "chef", I do know my way around knives and a kitchen. Be prepared to move quickly. This isn't a leisurely event. It's two hours of kitchen work. Plus, when we made pasta, the chef had the groups rolling their entire dough ball out at once. Usually it's cut into smaller manageable pieces so it's easier to handle, especially for novices. Not so here...he had groups trying to roll out 10 foot long sheets of pasta dough. It was just causing a lot of frustration in most cases. Overall, I just think that it is too rushed to make it a true learning experience. read more

This was our second time coming here for the cooking class. This a great experience for a date night. It's BYOB so don't feel guilty for bringing a bottle of wine or a 6-pack of beer. They seat (stand) up to 16 people, and there's 4 to a section. Its a little pricy but it's a great time. I would also say it certainly benefits having a chef that is fun to chat with too. I was so excited to take the Holiday Tamales class with my mom. She bought it as a gift for me. I called ahead of time to ask if they had a stool that they could bring out for my mom who is partially disabled, they said yes. Great! We got to the store and saw that the previous class was wrapping up so we walked around the merchandise for a bit. Once the class had left and they started preparing for ours, my mom walked up to the door opening and asked if we had to check in. The chef yelled at her and told her couldn't she see that he was cleaning? And berated her. She walked away and we waited for our class to start. It was 20-25 minutes late!! Once it was started the chef made a snarky comment about us. AND there were no stools in sight. Anyway, my mom said she would try her best to stand for 2 hours (after we had already been standing in the store for about 30mins. Disappointed in the class. For $89 per person you don't get to make the masa, and the horchata that was on the class menu we didn't even get to make or taste. Not to mention all the sauces were made by assistants in the class not the paying students. All we got to do was make 2 fillings and stuff and steam the tamales. We stood around a lot with nothing to do. I enjoyed the time with my mom but I will never take another class there. Bonus: they were cleaning the tables tops off over the food set out for us to use. The water was not refilled for the class and we ran out of what was put out. And the classroom itself was filthy. read more

Her style, to me, feels like you're learning something new but you've also been doing it for 20 years - a breeze!!! This place is ok. I came here for a class date with my husband. We made pasta which was tasty, but the atmosphere was stuffy and crowded. The chef was kind of abrasive and seemed to have an attitude the whole time. I didn't know you had to work in groups of 4 either so we were packed super close together with another random couple. When I say packed I mean all four of us didn't have counter space to stand together. When someone was doing something with the pasta the other 3 people had to basically stand behind that person or off to the side. For the price I would have liked more space. The food was good though, I enjoyed it. read more

The cooking class has so much potential but there were a few issues during our date night class that our party did not like. 1. First the chef, chef Michael, was abrasive at times and did not take the time to allow people to ask questions. He assumed we all knew cooking terms and techniques without providing instructions. No fun was allowed. 2. The working stations of 4 people are way too small. A max of 2 people can be at one station at a time. The other 2 people are just watching. 3. After the meals were prepared we had to standup to eat our meals at the crowded station's. Standing wasn't so bad but the stations are so crowded only 2 people can eat at the same time. The stations are made for 2 people...3 max...not 2 couples. For the money I would not recommend this particular class and location...unfortunately and we will not be back. read more

Scheduled a cooking class for 9am. Checked confirmation emails prior to leaving, no cancellation email. We show up, at least 6 cars are parked there with people waiting (it's freezing with snow on the ground), the door is locked. We all sit there waiting until a woman shows up at 9:30 and lets herself in. We walk up with another pair of people, the door is locked again. We wave and stand there until she opens the door and tells us the class was cancelled and that they called as many people to let them know yesterday. No voicemail, no email update, nothing. If you're going to cancel a class, send a visible message to everyone who booked it because clearly a phone call from a random number (if a call was even made) does not reach everyone. Poor communication made a waste of a lot of people's time who made it out despite the ice. read more

My husband and I took the "Gnocchi from Scratch" class with friends of ours, and we really enjoyed it! The price of their classes is a little high...but they do all of the prep and the clean up. It was a great group outing, but there was a person in our class who was taking it by himself - and he was having a great time too! The instructor made sure everyone kept up with the rest of the class, and that everyone understood what to do next. Went to the stuffed pasta class with my husband, had chef Michael and it was excellent. We showed up 7 minutes late and were expecting to catch some slack for that because it was a small class that was moving pretty fast, but we didn't. Everyone was so nice including the staff and helped us get caught up the speed. Chef Michael also included so many helpful cooking tips during the class that my husband really enjoyed. I am not a chef by any means but because his direction was so good we made some EXCELLENT pasta. I literally went to sleep dreaming about it. Attended a Surf and Turf date night and it was fun, but be prepared to stand the entire time (~2 hours). The chef is very educated, but talks very fast. Would recommend going with another couple you know because you share ingredients and pans with them. And it's not promoted, but it's BYOB!!! read more

Came here with niece to make dumplings. They had just ended a pasta class immediately before ours, so maybe they weren't prepared. Many of the kitchen items and ingredients were missing so they had to keep dashing back to get them to us. When actually making the dumplings, the chef did not explain until someone actually asked "how much do we put in each dumpling?" "How do we're fold them?!" My niece actually helped many of the class members, and she's 14. Compared to Central Market cooking classes, it does not rival. Chef got on his phone, did not give step-by-step instructions. Took my first cooking class since home economics 50 years ago! This was a very FUN experience!! The environment was super nice, the chef ( Chef Michael) is a gem, and the recipes so easy and so delicious!! I was solo, but there were 2 couples there for their date night and it was adorable to see them prep the ingredients and watch them interact and enjoy the journey. We had to share our ingredients with another couple at our station which was super awkward trying to make sure we all were able to participate. Truly horrible -- I have tried three separate times to take a cooking class (this was a Valentine's Day gift from my wife) - and they cancelled all three times... to their credit they at least let me know the day before (which is better than their Dallas store). Every time -- they cancelled. I spoke to the manager and there was some excuse about not being able to find the right folks to teach. Booked a cooking class to celebrate my kiddos bday - on his bday. The day of, I called them at 12:53 to confirm class was still scheduled as I got a weird email that looked like I purchased an item that was being shipped out. They confirmed class was still on for that day and to disregard the email. Turns out the class got cancelled. I must have missed their call as they said they called me around 1:30 to report the class was cancelled. We didn't get any message and showed up for the class - 45 min away. Had I know they were going to cancel I would have booked a different location. Nope - don't recommend and will definitely not be booking this place ever again! This is the third time we have attended a cooking class here and we have enjoyed it immensely every time. There are numerous courses, most offered several times throughout a month at different times and days, so it is fairly easy to sign up for one that interests you. All of the instructors have made it fun, they provide written recipes and instructions for you to take home and they will make you feel comfortable no matter what your skill level is. These classes are especially fun for couples (wines and other adult beverages are allowed for most courses - so you can make it a 'date night), and the class size is small enough that those who need it can have individualized attention. As an added bonus, you get a discount for any shopping you do that day, and if you sign up for another class while your there you get a discount for that as well.
