You can stop reviewing other services...just hire these folks! Our gas fireplace is 20 years old and we were noticing an excessive amount of soot leaking out the corners in the front, as well as the external vent. I had someone come out and take a look to advise if it could fixed or if it had to be replaced. I was advised that the unit was too old, that replacement parts are no longer available, and that my only option was to replace it. So I got a couple different quotes and not only do new fireplace units cost upwards of $3,000 - $4,000 on average, it would be $1400 to install plus $3800 to do the demolition and refinish of all the custom tile work that had to be destroyed when the old unit was removed. So between $7000 - $8000 is what I was expecting to shell out (after just spending $4900 on a new furnace just 4 months ago). Needless to say I wasn't very excited. I decided to go ahead and get a 2nd opinion from an actual service person vs someone wanting to sell me an upgrade. I'm so glad I did! I connected with Paul at Sure Flame and was able to get him over to look at the fireplace two days later. He arrived right on schedule, and, I kid you not, within the first 30 seconds he found out what the problem was and was able to fix it. No tools, no parts, no materials. He took a photo and showed it to me and said it should work fine now. He went through a full service including cleaning the glass, painting the interior, and adding materials which added to the ambience. So, instead of having to shell out several thousands of dollars for a new unit I was able to pay a modest fee for a service call and the fireplace is working good as new. Gave them a call and got on the schedule. Technician Paul came out and got right to work troubleshooting. I was expecting him to find and fix the problem, which he did (faulty wall switch if you care). What I wasn't expecting was him to get this fire place looking so nice! Cleaned the glass. I can't speak highly enough of Paul the owner of this company. I set an appointment to get my gas fire place looked and repaired. It hadn't worked in years after I had a big name HVAC repair company look at it. They quoted me around $1500.00 to get a valve replaced, because the valve was discontinued. Upon telling Paul with he laughed and said that most HVAC repair companies just don't have the experience with gas fire places. Paul found the problem which turned out to be a wiring issue, I also needed a new switch. He vacuumed and repainted the fire place, as well as cleaned the glass so it looks brand new. So happy we called Sure Flame to inspect and service the gas fireplace that was installed in the house we just bought. Scheduling was a breeze, they arrived early, and did a complete serving that included cleaning, adjusting the pilot light, repairing the igniter, and applying a new coat of heat resistant paint to the interior of the insert.
