Had bad experience with Rick of Cambria / Sureguard windows, I realize windows and sliding doors are of poor quality, do not block noise and control temprature because not insulated properly. Now see part of frame coming/bulging out. I was holding to write review for more than a year but finally doing because it will be not fair to others. Honestly I can't even review the windows because I never even got that far. I've been trying to get new windows through Rick for over a month now. However, I'd have to assume that since it's a smaller job, I've just been getting the run around with Rick. I've even gone to the business to meet him as he had asked and then he is not even there. Purchased and had installed several windows in a home over 10 years ago, and we were impressed with their great service and great windows. They came to offer a quote and provided a lead time that they were able to deliver on. Now recently I referred them for new windows and a slider door for my Mother-In-Law. She received a very fair quote and a descent lead time. The quote was quite a bit cheaper than the quote from HomeDepot with better product and better delivery time. My Mother-in-Law was extremely pleased with their service and with her new windows and slider door. She has remodeled a few homes, and was very pleased with their work and clean up. I can't say enough good things about Sureguard Windows. Rick is the owner, he came out himself to evaluate my job: a house built in 1941 with original wood single pane, double hung windows. After some great suggestions by him we settled on a plan and price that was beyond fair. Install was flawless, it took Jose and his helper 2 days to install 19 windows, including a last minute add-on for the garage. Impeccable craftsmanship and cleanliness. In the days we're living in it was awesome to see them clean up after themselves in each room before moving on to the next. Updating my review. After installing the windows, we ordered new balcony sliders (triple paned as well). The experience was far from good, considering that they cost over $4k. First of all, the communication from the company was terrible and required me to proactively check in to keep the process moving. The install date kept sliding (first we were told a November date, then Dec 10, then later in the month, and finally on December 30th). On top of this, when I called to ask when the installers would come, I was told that they wouldn't because the company had a Christmas party that evening - even though they were the ones who scheduled this appointment themselves. Their response to my dismay was "tough - we have too much work and we don't even really want to do your job, so take it or leave it". The only good thing here was the installer himself who did a professional job once he came to install the doors. ...... Original review Needed to upgrade the windows on a condo we just bought. Horrible customer service and completely disorganized. I would give zero stars if I could. They are not even licensed any more. Rick is rude, unprofessional and one of the worst contractors I've ever come across. once he has your money, his true colors show. I wish we never used him! They installed like 9 windows/sliding doors in our entire house. Took them like 6 months to even start, because they lost our paperwork. Installation took two days because they sent one wrong sliding door and they had to board up our door for the night. The installation wasn't done the proper up-to-code way and many short cuts were taken that will shorten the life of the vinyl. The warranty is a joke! Good luck getting someone out there to fix anything on time. There is no communication with Rick or the people that actually come out and do the window install. This place will be out of business before the life of the windows end. I had to go to Home Depot to get a completely new window after rick delayed me and never actually ordered what I needed. We called on Sureguard Windows and Doors to install windows and a sliding door in our house. We met with Rick, the owner of the business who walked us around the business and gave us a demo of the windows and how they were built. We observed that he was very experienced and was sincere towards his customers. He quoted us an outstanding price and put us in contact with his installer Jose. The day of the install, Jose was prompt with his assistant Joe, showed up exactly when they said they would and got to work. They worked quickly and efficiently together and did an awesome job taking out the old windows and installing the new. They had to work around our elderly parents and were caring and compassionate towards their needs. They installed all of the windows and door and really made sure to focus on quality and craftsmanship. While they worked quickly together, they didn't cut corners and just try to get out of there as quickly as possible. They took time to answer questions and encourage us to test all before they left to make sure we were happy with the install. We are very happy with the work that they provided and absolute love the look of the house with the new windows/door. What is important after a window retrofit installation? Service of your warranty! All installers and manufacturers offer warranties, some have "lifetime" Warranties. Sureguard gets five stars for honoring my lifetime warranty, twice these past seven years, once in 2015, and again this past week February 2019. In 2012 Rick's company, Sureguard did a quality job on my 18 retrofit windows at a killer price. Install went great, product was and remains wonderful seven years later. I am sorry I did not write a review sooner. Sureguard is a quality five-star product, their installers were company employees of Sureguard, they were courteous and professional. Now to the Warranty, don't we all dread that warranty call when we need service? You find that the company was sold (or out of business) Your warranty is out of compliance, or some other nitpicky detail to deny service. Last week my sliding glass door window lock stopped locking. I also had a broken window lock when I climbed through the kitchen window. Yes, I locked myself out. It was so hard to get in my own house my neighbor heard me and came over to help (very secure windows). Seven years after Rick installed his Sureguard windows. He picked up the phone immediately and delivered parts himself the next day! I doubt my kitchen window lock was a warranty issue, but Rick said no worries, he would have installed the locks if I had my drill charged. Thanks Rick! I had SureGuard installed all 18 windows and a patio door 19 years ago, in 2001, in my Arcadia house, when my child was just born in that house. Rick and his installer came to my house for quotation and also signed the contract with me, with a life time warranty for their windows. I never expected to use that warranty until 19 years later, when my child is already in college and i decided to move back to my house, after renting my house to some tenants for several years. These tenants really messed up with the house and almost half of the windows could not be opened or closed. The locks were broken and hardware inside the up-and-down windows are broken so these windows can not be opened and some can not be locked. Also many screens in the windows were in bad shape that when i tried to remove them to clean and replace the screen, the screen frame broke. The worst thing is that it seems like someone really know which window was broken and can not be locked and can be accessed from outside yard, so my house was constantly being broken in and things were stolen when no one was at home. I guess these thefts are insiders who really knew how to take advantage of the broken windows. I decided to take a chance and called SureGuard in July 2020. To my very surprise, this company still exists after this 19 years. And even surprisingly, it is Rick who picked up the phone. He asked me to text him the original contract (luckily I still have it) and honored my warranty. He and his technician came to my house to evaluate the windows, ordered the hardwares to fix them, and also replaced the screens for free, even to replaced my patio door for free after they found the hardware for that door is too difficult to get after this many years. The waiting time is a little longer than I expected. I had called several times for the installer to come after the hardware has arrived in their factory, but it had been 2 weeks and the installer was still busy. Then on the day that the installer was supposed to come, his truck was broken and I had complained to Rick that it was too hot in my house when we can not open windows, and Rick came to my house and fixed the windows by himself. I am very thankful for his help and empathy. Overall I am impressed by their integrity in treating customers and honoring their contract. I did not expect that 19-year-old contract is still honored and I am grateful that they did beyond they already committed, being both professional and caring for their customers. As for the quality of the windows, they still work beautifully after these 19 years, blocking the heat waves and seal the bugs out. I heard that their new windows may not use the same good material as they used 19 years ago, that might be the result of the market price competitions. The only shortcoming is that you have to keep calling them to follow up with your order and installation time, maybe because now they are too busy. I would highly recommend this business with their current management team. I wish this business can last for many years to come and keep its good tradition. read more
