Another slam dunk meal at Eat Crispy Burger Convoy location. We originally ate at the Encinitas location, but are so happy a closer location opened up. Today was a takeout day. Good thing too, because there are new parking rules in the lot (I was in a rush and didn't read them or take a photo of them, sorry!) so not sure about the parking situation. We had two double OG burgers and the large onion rings. The onion rings are behemoths with crunchy batter that maintained their crunch despite not being eaten immediately. The OG burgers had nicely charred and juicy patties, contrasting well with a tangy sauce and grilled onions. Service was friendly, fast, and courteous. The restaurant was nicely air conditioned and well-illuminated with natural light. We would have stayed to eat in, but our baby was overtired and not in the mood for Mom and Dad to binge on lunch. read more

Came and got a double all American burger with grilled onions and a small fries. It came on a brioche bun American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard. I opted for grilled onions rather than fresh. It's quite easy to make changes from the touch pad ordering screen. The burger was nicely smashed with crispy edges the brioche bun was soft. The grilled onions, though nicely grilled and delicious were Finley diced, I wish it was a slice of onion that was grilled to give it more substance. The lettuce was also shredded, id prefer a large piece of lettuce. Overall a very meaty and juicy burger. The fries were a little thinner than usual which gives it more surface area and crunch. They are also cooked in beef tallow which is nice. They have their own parking but are located next to ko-li and Yakyudori so it can be difficult to find parking if you go at night. I went for lunch and found parking easily. The place has about 7 tables inside and a few outside. They also have breakfast sandwiches which are served all day. Cako loves coming up here! She never forgets where she gets her favorite treats! Needed to eat and was in the area. Met up with a friend of mine who lives close. We both had the combo OG with double patties. Soooooooo good! As always, nice crispy fries! When she brought out the trays, there was a little paper bowl with a few pieces of bacon. A fast food delight that comes with avocado oil that you can feel somewhat happy about eating fried food, but I will say their burgers are delicious and my daughter says it's 10 out of five stars. Not too crowded on the weekend and when I ordered this on DoorDash, it was pretty good, but I will say the thing that gives it extra star is that they offer sauces at no cost: thousand island, Ranch, and barbecue. I would suggest ordering a double patty since they do cook their burgers smash burger style to get tray crisp. My roommate and I happened to find this place on Convoy. We thought we would give it a try. I had their most popular signature burger and it was tasty. We ordered online and he went to pick up. By the time he got home the food was only mildly warm. The burger is a smash style burger (thin and flat). To be honest the flavor of the burger was so hard to taste because the bun is so thick. I modified my burger from having: melted white american cheese, grilled onions, crispy sauce (thousand island dressing). I don't get what California's obsession is with thousand island dressing on burgers but I digress. I left the cheese and onions on my burger and pickles (taking off crispy sauce) and added mustard. The pickles were flavorless and did not add anything to the burger. I had fries and they were very crispy on the outside but were still a bit too mushy on the inside for my personal preference. I got the single burger, fries and a drink for $12.98 which I felt was a reasonable price considering meals at McDonald's cost more than that. Overall a mid experience. It's got a really soft brioche bun which was a delight to bite into...however the flavor was just nonexistent. I love a good smash burger and the Crispy Burger in Carlsbad has been a staple in my smash burger rotation. I got the original "OG" crispy burger double style ($9.99) with French fries ($2.99). This was a huge miss for me, I fear :/ I was not expecting to be so let down after reading review after glowing review. Everything was fine--service, ambiance, parking--except the food. Is it supposed to be the bun? The meat? I have no answer. Wait, this is the worst part. I have never met a fry I didn't like. But here? It was the first time I had chosen not to clear my plate of fries. The fries reminded me of something you'd get via a cafe that is supplied by Sysco. They were bland, stiff, and very underseasoned.
