Ordered cinnamon raisin, Plain, and Old Bay bagel with an assortment of cream cheeses (apple-raisin and veggie). 1/17/22 Since this place got sold it has not held up its great reputation. I went there today and bought 2 bagels at $1.50 each. They charged me another $1.50 for cream cheese and they only put a very small amount on it. Then on the second bagel they charged me $1.25 for butter. There was not enough butter on the bagel to wet the surface. I had to double check to see some butter at all. It was terrible. Under the old ownership they were always very generous with cream cheese and butter. (Not Now.) I also notice they placed a sign up at the coffee area stating they are charging for refills. I was very disappointed. I am a long time customer. I have been going there since they first opened. The new owners are making changes that are going to run locals away. read more

After having a disappointing breakfast in Rehoboth Beach we stumbled upon Surf Bagel. This place is a gem! It's worth the 5-10 minute drive from the boardwalk. Very good bagels with interesting flavors like old bay and egg with bacon bits. I had the whole wheat everything bagel with chicken salad. The chicken salad was so fresh and tasty. It wasn't drowned in mayo and had some crunchy celery for texture. They will even "gut" the bagel for those of you watching your cals like me. The chicken cheese steak with caesar salad on top is out of control good. Even a simple bagel with cream cheese is delicious here. Def go! Uhm one of the best bagels I've ever inhaled. The lines are long always on the weekend, but they move. They ALWAYS have egg bagels (my fav) while other places typically run out. Even with the long lines, they always seem to have an abundance of bagels in the late morning hours. Can't say it's that way at 2 p.m. though since I've never been closer to closing time :) They have some inventive bagel flavors too if you're adventurous. Nice little outdoor seating area. Got a bagel to go too and it was still good the next day when toasted. I still need to try the breakfast sandwiches at some point. read more

Chicken salad is fresh, simple and nicely seasoned and the bagel is chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The service can use some fine tuning. I have been there 10 or so times and I have never been happy with the service. Either the service is rude, dismissive , abrasive, incompetent or all of the above. Yup - this is the place to go for bagels in Sussex County. It is actually the best in Kent & Sussex County. The coffee is great - atmosphere fun & fast paced. Super excited about this one. I'll be honest, being from New Jersey I am a little bit of a bagel snob but I will say I was extremely satisfied with this location. First off the place operates like a machine. Large location, tons of bagel flavors to choose from, and the spreads/sandwich options are fantastic. Our order consisted of a bacon egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel, and a toasted everything bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese. The bacon was crispy and the eggs were not runny. Standard requirements for any BEC (bacon egg & cheese). Now I will explain to you why I was blown away by this place The bagels: Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not flat and dense, not doughy and chewy, not dry and hard, not anything negative. I couldn't believe it at first. The cream cheese: The garlic & herb mixed with the cream cheese like Batman & Robin. The flavors were there perfectly without overshadowing the cream cheese or the bagel for that matter. My girlfriend being the gem she is was concerned about her breath after eating this spread and I replied with "I would eat your breath, that's how good it smells." Needless to say I would highly recommend this spread on any of their bagel options. The only negative to this place that I could come up with is the fact that I live 3 and a half hours away from here. From NY so spoiled when it comes to really good bagels. These do not measure up in the cook of the bagel or the texture department. On the positive side they have many fresh options for toppings and sandwiches and some not ever seen where I live. My son had an egg sandwich on an old bay seasoned bagel and it was surprisingly tasty. Very busy and staff not real friendly. It's a little far up route 1 if your coming from the Dewey area, but its worth stopping for breakfast at least once. If you don't mind fighting the traffic and I'm guessing there will be a line during the summer season then take drive up. The coffee was probably the best from the weekend stops and the bagels are pretty good. They have many different bagels even chocolate chip. You will miss out if you don't make your way over during your trip and subject yourself to the second rate places that are closer. read more

This is a solid bagel place, definitely one of the better ones in the area. Last time I was there I got an everything bagel. I told myself I wouldn't do that again because it was SO salty. Today I went and got a wheat everything bagel. Still super salty. Just a forewarning. Other than that, the bagels are really fresh and the cream cheese is good. It's always a long line during the summers. I highly encourage calling ahead as they separate the lines for phone orders and walk in orders. It's always worth the wait. Love this place! Great family-owned and operated business. Bagels are the BEST, flavorful, with a great variety. My favorite is pumpkin in the fall, with pumpkin cream cheese. But don't stop with bagels; their lunch wraps are awesome - really big, with choice of wrap. Try the Islander - homemade chicken salad with pineapple on whole wheat wrap. It's my go-to. Wraps come with homemade chips too (these could use more salt, but I'm a salt junky), and a pickle. Fast service, and friendly staff. They did not toast my husband or my bagel sufficiently enough and my egg, say adage and cheese was room temperature, not really warm or hot. I believe this is due to the high volume of customers they have going in and out of the store and the speed they have to make food. One of the best bagels I have ever had! That bacon egg and cheese saved my life on our way out of Dewey. We saw the sign driving in for the weekend and thought we'd give it a whirl on the way back home-so glad we stopped! The bagel was soft (even after being toasted) and all the fillings were perfect.
