Pleasantly surprised! Will definitely come back to try more in their menu + Food: I love their burger: so juicy and well- seasoned. I tend to not like when burgers are oily but this one doesn't feel like that at all. Their buns are made from taro but I didn't get a strong taro taste. They were out of the taro fries then but would love to come back to try. + Vibe: it's located in a food truck park with plenty of parking in a lot. Plenty of tables to sit as well. Service wasn't too slow.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet: I love taro, so my friend and I just stopped here to grab their taro fries. Man these are AMAZING they gave us so much and it HIT. It was like a better version of sweet potato fries. You must get this if you like fries and/or taro. I would LITERALLY drive to Kahuku from town JUST to get this.

    Loco Moco

I've had Loco Moco all over this island, and so many food trucks are amazing, but if I had to say which was "best", I'd say the Taro Hut! DAMN was this delicious and plentiful! Flora and Gabe made me feel family and filled my belly with some AMAZING food!

Really great burger! Found that the buns hold better without veggie toppings. Taro fries are a must! Service was quick and seating was nice and shady

Taro burger bun was very delicious and tasty! The burger itself was a smash burger and it was so rich and tasty with arugula and grilled onions! The fried chicken sandwich was very standard, and it had fresh veggies on it. The taro fries were crispy and thick, very filling. Outdoor seating. Plenty of dirt lot parking. Quick service, burgers made fresh to order!

Really unique and Hawaiian experience. We had the burgers with the taro patty. The service was friendly and fairly quick. The taro fries and the Spicy Hawaiian burger were the highlights. Simply delicious! The setting was in a cluster of food trucks which was a lot of fun to take in. There are facilities (bathrooms) nearby and parking is plentiful.

This place is a hidden gem. We came when we were visiting the area and we wanted a vegetarian option. We ordered da fun guy with the double taro patty and this burger was amazing!! The taro fries were very good as well. One burger was enough for both my husband and I. I highly recommend visiting. Food truck style and sit at the picnic tables.

Taro Hut popped up in my Yelp feed while we were in the North Shore looking for new spots to try. annddd I'm so glad it did! Since we just wanted to try Taro Hut we only ordered one item. #TaroEats: ~ HUT BURGERS: DA BOMB BACON - 5/5 This was one of the best and Unique Burgers I had... Beef Patty, Cheese, Crispy Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Pickles Grilled Onions. Whats not to like? A perfectly done burger with an exotic Island flavor profile. Everything just worked so well together. That Toasted Ube bun takes it to different level. I'll most definitely be back to try their other items...

They were packed over the weekend but we managed to get some grub in. Burger and fries goes well all around. We got just that but to our surprise no taro burger bun. I guess they ran out. The regular bun did the work of the taro bun too. The burger was juicy and the fries were tasty. I think the sauce for the fries was a tad sweet for my taste, but hey, just use ketchup or eat them plain. No worries It was fun and was made pretty quickly. Will return

My hubby wanted a burger so he ordered the spicy Hawaiian. It took a few minutes but finally the food came out and it is definitely worth the wait. The burger is juicy and the taro bun is yummy and the grilled pineapple on it just so juicy and the spicy sauce just added to perfection.

Da Bomb Burger and Taro Fries. They are bomb!

I got da bomb burger and I liked it a lot. Tasted great - juicy, flavorful, and slight sweetness from the taro bun. French Fries were really good as well - taro fries were interesting so to speak. Should definitely try! The guys running the hut are also friendly and cool~ Def worth 5 stars!!

First time trying this place after following them for sometime now on Instagram! So fresh and so ono. Service was fast and friendly. We can't wait to try this spot again! Keep up the great grinds!

Palusami bowl (vegan) taro leaves, root, and coconut milk
    Sha G.

Taro aka kalo is a special food. It's nutritious from the root to the leaf. The taro hut brings taro to the main stage and the dance on your tastebuds is memorable. The food truck had no line and the food came out hot and fast. There are taro buns and taro slices, but the star for me is the palusami plate (vegetarians, vegan, and gluten free). The taro is cooked soft and then topped with melt in your mouth taro leaves. This is all saturated in the best coconut milk in your life. There's no canned stuff here. I was told that this is a Samoan preparation and I'm ready for more! The plate looks small but it is very filling. This is not to be missed. In fact, I loved it more than anything else I've eaten in the area.

The beef cut and onions reminded me of the classic Filipino beef steak but this one does not have vinegar or is not sour, it also leans more on the sweeter and savory teriyaki side. It has 2 scoops of rice, and a side salad. Chey Jay, the owner was helpful and friendly. Service was fast. No complaints! They only accept Venmo or cash. Go check them out if you are in the area. I honestly thought it was wagyu misspelled but it's actually based on a type of sauce explained to me as sweet and savory. It was a plate lunch with 2 scoops rice, NY steak, and a side salad. The steak was cooked pretty well but after eating maybe 2 or 3 pieces I stopped. This is the kind of plate that gets better with time so I left it for a few hours and was not disappointed that the sauce marinaded more into the steak. Service was quick even with plate made to order. The only thing is you pay with cash or vendor. I do hope they have a card reader soon. If you're turned off by the shrimp truck line or want something filipino hawaiian fusion, come here and taste the good food they have!

I am providing a review before Turtle Bay was acquired and the food/service provided then. That being said, this was one of our favorite restaurants. We would take the kids here to enjoy the view and food. The food was very reasonably priced for the location/view and the service was always top notch. People were very friendly and would really accommodate for our children. We really appreciated the quality of the food too - usually when there is a good view there isn't good food but this location had both. We liked how diverse the menu was and that it was always rotating so you got to try new items and dishes. It is one of the few restaurants that has it all going for it - location, quality servers, great food, good price. Since it's been acquired/the menu has been renovated we haven't been back. I believe the price points have all gone up to match the luxury of a Ritz which I get. But we'll see maybe we will go check it out and we can update the review from there.

We ordered the Spicy Shrimp and the Shrimp Scampi plates, and neither was impressive. The food came out almost instantly, which proves it is not cooked to order. Because it sits around, the shrimp is incredibly difficult to peel. Anyone who cooks shrimp knows that if you do not peel it right after cooking, the shell sticks to the meat, which was exactly the case here. The Spicy Shrimp had a decent kick, but it lacked actual flavor. The Shrimp Scampi was better but still bland. Honestly, 9 out of 10 shrimp places back home in Southern California make a better plate. To make things worse, the two ladies managing the truck were rude. My wife asked for extra napkins, not realizing some were already in the bag. The worker snapped back, "Are those not enough?" and made her feel super awkward. We also asked for a cup of ice to go with our canned sodas. They flatly refused and told us to ask another truck nearby. Luckily, the other truck owners were much nicer and gave us the ice. Save your time and money. There are much better, friendlier options out there.

Hub's sandwich was huge, and he said it was a little challenging to eat it as stuffing was falling out. MIL's sandwich was a decent amount of pulled pork, and she liked the sauce on the sandwich. I got the #9 plate, which is kalua pork, huli chicken, and I got mac salad. The kalua pork meat itself was fine. Not gristly and not too fatty. However, barely any smoke taste to it and was fairly bland. The huli chicken didn't have crispy skin. It seemed lukewarm like it had been cooked a while earlier and was just sitting. The sauce is amazing and I do think it's delicious with the sauce. Rice was just rice. Meh. Even adding shoyu didn't add much flavor to it, to be honest. The mac salad is extremely bland. I don't know if they need to add some acid to the mayonnaise or more salt, but it was pasty and no flavor. I would honestly skip getting the mac salad next time and get regular salad! That's how bad this mac salad was. Two slices of pineapple on the plate were fresh and flavorful. I did enjoy these. Service was okay. I had asked if they still honored kama'aina discount and was told no. That's fine; I understand not all places offer discounts. I don't know when kama'aina discount stopped being offered, but back in the day I used to receive it when asking. I did notice though that two guys who ordered before me got a "mahalo, braddah" in a friendly tone but I got a terse "thanks." Guess haole girls don't get mahalos even if local. It's just uncomfortable when certain people get friendly, effusive mahalos and others get terse thanks, like I didn't want to be serving you food today. Maybe cause it was Mother's Day and they didn't want to be there? Sure didn't feel like 'ohana today. So many flies around, it made eating uncomfortable. A few fly fans on tables but not at the one where I was seated, so it was basically like constantly shooing away flies and trying to take a bite of food super fast before they came back on my food. Probably I should have taken my food away and gone to the beer garden nearby with fewer flies. Meh. I used to really like Mike's but I will stick to Da Bald Guy and Seven Brothers when I visit the sugar mill in the future.
