I have been to other surf taco locations many times and always have a great experience. However this red bank location I didn't have the best experience. The bathrooms are beyond disgusting! On top of that, the staff was not very friendly. I stood at the counter for 5+ minutes with a toddler waiting to order and no one came out until the phone rang and the girl picked up the phone and took a long order without acknowledging me. Then another girl came out and just stared at me and I asked if I could place an order and she just shook her head, seemed very unhappy. The food also didn't seemed as good this time. The bathroom was disgusting and the dinning area was gross. Every single table and every inch of the floor was covered in filth, including toilet paper on the floor out by the tables. Let me start by saying: This is a place for kids. The food is okay, but it is extremely messy. I can't understand why restaurants hire people to put together a meal, that falls apart during the first bite. The best part of the food is actually the sauces from the toppings bar. Surf Taco is a good place to get a shore style meal. Their Jenks Steak burrito is my usual order but their Fish burrito/taco is another favorite. My meal is always different with who is cooking that day. There is outdoor seating which is a plus and their 4 homemade sauces, mild, baja, Verde and hot are an added bonus. All meals are served with chips. The prices are pretty steep for a taco place but worth the price every now and then. A Steak burrito will run you around $12-$13 and fish burrito around $10. This location has a terrible spot for their ordering counter. Their tables are too close or something. It is just not in an ideal spot. I got a steak burrito like I usually get from most Mexican places and I got a California dream smoothie which was pretty good if you like orange juice. My burrito was good and my friend who got a taco loved it and he liked his Good-Karma smoothie. I was going to post a better review.... the food seemed fresh and the service was fast and friendly. But, it was the first time I had a cold burrito. It was warm on the outside and cold inside.... and now? Both my husband and I are getting the symptoms of food poisoning. My friend and I were looking for places to eat and we came across Surf Taco and decided to stop in. I got the Maverick's Burrito and my friend got 2 tacos (steak and shrimp). We were not impressed. The chicken and steak were burnt and not edible, the food tasted bland and tasted as if it could be purchased at Taco Bell for a much cheaper price. I may as well stick to Chipotle (where the bag of chips is WAY more then the small handful they give you here) and I'm always guaranteed a good and satisfying meal. I love the chicken tender tacos, chicken teriyaki tacos, salmon tacos, taco salad and the verde salsa! If you want sour cream and guacamole you will pay but just like anywhere else. Surf Taco is a fun hangout spot! The chips and salsa are delicious, and the food is tasty. The Surf Taco in Red Bank is much more spacious than the one in Long Branch, and has a fun youthful beach vibe. I always prefer authentic Latino cuisine, but I like to go here for a healthy meal by the beach with very little wait. I knew the surf taco before they expanded their franchise, it was great then. Sadly now the food is extremely bland and flavorless. i just dont get the hype behind it. The red bank one was good for a couple weeks then slowly got blander and blander. I just got a "buffalo" soldier burrito but it looks like they forgot the buffalo. Unexpectedly good, fairly authentic Mexican in New Jersey. We were in town visiting friends and stopped in for lunch. AC was broken, but it wasn't too bad. I would eat here every day if I could. Had the Mahi, which was outstanding, and the beef, which was predictable but still tasty. read more

I'm a huge surf taco fan! Definitely don't come here if you're expecting Mexican food, which is a mistake a few have made. It's "shore food" which means easy to make, easy to eat and delicious! I love the salsa bar and the fun coke machines. Their black bean soup is a seasonal favorite of mine. The rest of the year I usually go for a mojado style burrito, or a taco or two. this is my 1st time at surf taco red bank and when i came in i was excited because of how wonderful the restaurant was decorated. that excitement was soon demolished when i was greeted by the cashier. she was rude and she wasn't helpful at all. i had questions about the menu and she did not seem open to answer them. my friend ordered the combo number 3 which comes with 1 chicken tender taco and fries she also paid for an extra taco. when her food came out she received chips instead of fries. so she respectfully asked for the fries that her meal came with. the meal with fries came out after 10 minutes of waiting and....... one of her tacos was gone!!! when she paid for 2!!! she was so hesitant to ask for her taco because of the bad attitude of the workers. 10/10 for the food i received. 0/10 for the service. read more

Ok first off as of the date this is written the "surf Taco" location has been open for less than 1 week , that being said "I do not work" there and have been there for lunch and dinner 4 times already . Being a hardcore Vegetarian I have had no problem getting "Dairy Free" meals there and have been eating the "Malibu Burrito" with lot's of Portobello Mushrooms on it (3 of the 4 x's) the "waffle Fries" are awesome, brought my kids for dinner twice - paid less than 27.00 for the 3 of us. If there was a down side the line was a bit long, but that was understandable and we were eating within 15-20 mins of getting in line and sitting down and the one Friday night at 6:30 the place was packed. Great TV's with Extreme sports running and a view of Broad Street while sitting at the counter along the window, Great staff very diverse and friendly and pleasant decor - overall Great Experience all 4 times and it's nice to have a Family style restaurant on Broad street 4 1/2 stars read more

Ok. I heard all the hype when Surf Taco was coming into town. NOT IMPRESSED! Very mediocre Mexican. There is far better Mexican in town. Virtually any other Mexican is better than Surf Taco. But they seem to be going for the 13-20 yr old crowd that wants a place to hang out. In that way they succeed. I had the surf tacos, burritos, black bean soup. The soup was watery and uninspired missing cilantro and sour cream. I also tried the ahi tuna taco special. Overcooked tuna and stuffed mostly with cabbage.
