Food was pretty good but restaurant policies are ridiculous. I requested a cup for water for my son and was told corporate doesn't allow cups for water; I had to purchase a bottle of water. I used the money I intended for my tip to buy bottled water to make my point. We are from Texas; if you deny people water, they die. Additionally, I ordered the large guacamole and was told chips come with the meal. Once I ate my 10 chips I asked for an additional basket and was told yet again, there would be a charge. Corporate policies are ridiculous. And chip serving much to small for a large guacamole. read more

Very pedestrian mexican food. But I go here all the time and enjoy it. You can't beat the #4 combo with burrito, taco, chips and drink for $10. Of all items the actual "Surf Taco" is tastiest. Being from California I've been craving a good fish Taco. I have been to Red Bank many times and saw surf Taco so thought I'd give it a try. Menu behind the register was small and hard to read. I got a take out menu. We decided on Chicken taquitos, a Mahi Mahi taco, and a shrimp taco. We asked for no cheese. The Young lady asked it it was a dairy allergy. We said yes and she made sure none of the sauces had dairy. Very kind and Attentive. Service with a smile and a pleasure to order from. We placed the order to go. The taquitos were big. Full of white meat and not over fried. They were good. Only issue is they were served in a paper "boat" and wrapped in tin foil. So by the time we got home they were messy to open with the lettuce and salsa all over. The shrimp taco was tasty, I'd prefer corn tortilla and a little more shrimp. but now I know and will order it that way next time. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly! Tasty. A little to much cabbage and not a fan of the pineapple on the taco. That's a personal taste. Salsa bar was well kept and very good flavors. I asked for a side of fresh Jalepeno and they didn't have any. Not a deal breaker. Food and experience was overall good. And I will def be back! If you miss California tacos and want something fast this is worth a try! Staff is friendly. Bathrooms and restaurant was clean. read more

Had not been there in a long while and went to dinner tonight. Food was ok but the table tops, salsa counter and trash areas were not clean and not being wiped down. Usually what happens up front is a reflection of what happens in the kitchen. The girls (food runners and counter help) don't mind putting out containers for tips, how about wiping down your tables and keeping the place clean. Double Yuck. read more

wow....i never write bad reviews because i usually dont care enough to publicly shame a hard working business but thats about to change. i enjoy a doordash once and a while, get some money and just drive around. who wouldn't? i get a surf taco order on my app and i get excited. excitement turned to anger really fast. these people didnt know up from down it seemed. people waiting for food at a fast food joint for more then 20 minutes is absolutely un heard of! i waited for an hour for food that i wasnt even going to eat. everyone waiting was for doordash, pick up and eat in!meanwhile, someone actually had the audacity to order catering from surf taco. insane to think about. anyway, i continue to sit and wait. meanwhile, the poor woman who ordered surf taco and is depending on me to deliver it is starving. at this point i said to the guy next to me "Wow, i could go back there and make the order quicker". dont know what was happening back there. whole lotta people standing around too, maybe they go help? and not to mention, one of my other customers from the evening was texting me begging for his food. this poor man was hungry. eventually, i contact DD support and they just cancel the whole thing and wasting my time. but this was a learning experience, never eat at surf taco. the amount of people coming ip and cancelling orders because the wait was too long was insane. "35 minutes!" WHAT?! 35 minutes?! better be an outstanding meal. in the end, i got a contract violation from doordash for this and thats what infuriated me the most. getting threatened with deactivation from doordash due to surf tacos incompetence. Red Bank has become my favorite spot on the way home from the beach and Surf Taco is the biggest reason. Load up on records at Jack's Music Shoppe, Revisit your childhood with some comic books at Secret Stash and then go next door and fill that big ass hole in your stomach at Surf Taco. The Surf Burrito and Surf tacos. my favorites are the best I've had. Fresh, tasty and above all, messy. The vibe is laid back and the decor makes you want to stay longer while watching surfing, skating and extreme living on the flat screen. If I live in Red Bank, I'd be in there every day getting my taco fix. Highly recommend. HIGHLY!!! read more

First time visiting Surf Taco today and we were very impressed. Went with my wife and 2 daughters during lunch today. I ordered the 2 taco combo with the garlic shrimp taco and the steak taco. My wife ordered the same but with the mahi taco and garlic shrimp. My daughters each had a beef taco in a crunchy shell. Good amount of food for a very reasonable price and food tasted excellent. Salsa's were also great. We will definitely be returning. read more

Not very amazing or particularly good - i prefer Chipotle's any day. I got the coconut shrimp taco per the cashier's recommendation and found the cabbage to overwhelm the star of the dish - coconut shrimp. I also got the Trits dessert - really amazing stuff! In one bite, you get savory ice cream, cookie and then also some succulent caramel syrup that worked wonderfully together. I'd probably only be returning for the trits treat in the future. read more

Had lunch two days in a row. Great selection and variety - and not just tacos and burritos. The wraps are good too. The chips are decent and the large bowls of salsa allow for a choice of mild to hot although the hot isn't terribly so. The food comes out remarkably quickly. And people line up out the door during lunch. As much as I love Chipotle's, they don't have near the variety of selections. As for the surfing videos- I could do without but they didn't get in the way either. read more

I enjoyed the food. They had a huge variety of tacos, burritos and wraps. Their waffle fries were seasoned well and the salsa was free. My wife and I were walking around Red Bank for the night and decided to stop in. I can't complain about the food. It is usually very good and no complaints this time. I had the surf taco Baja style and my wife had the combo (1 steak, 1 shrimp taco). We also ordered the cheese waffle fries. I assume they are just frozen fries but they always taste good. It's a french frie, wants not to like? I do enjoy the Belmar/Pt Pleasant locations better. The RB location is larger but the atmosphere is different. Since it is in the town of RB you don't get the feel of a Surf Taco. It is nice to come off the beach and head over to eat. It has a more down the shore vibe. The one issue we had was that the fountain machine was broken and they had no bottled sodas. If you found a soda it was entirely frozen. 1- I like to be cheap and buy 1 soda for two people and just do the refill each time. 2- No FREE REFILL! 3- I do not normally buy bottled drinks but I assume they cost more than the fountain soda? Either way, I do not blame the workers. I am sure most people order fountain drinks now so I doubt they were prepared and ready to have extra bottled drinks available. read more

I've eaten here a few times and would say this place is acceptable but not great. I usually get the tortilla soup or quesadilla and find them a bit pricy for simple, average Mexican food, but then you are paying for the location. Sit outside or near the window, so you can watch all the activity on Broad St. We do enjoy the "mix your own" soda fountain- very cool. If you are looking specifically to eat Mexican food, then walk down near the train station to some of the better, more authentic places, but if you're looking for cheap-ish, al fresco, and in the main part of town, then Surf Taco is OK. read more

I've been to the location in Belmar but this was my first time trying out Red Bank. It was surprisingly packed for a Friday afternoon but the line moved pretty fast and our food came out really quickly. The surf taco is the one you absolutely need to try. A lot of good flavor but the only negative is that they add a lot of vegetables in the taco so it can overpower the fish. I also had a shrimp taco as well and the flavor was good when I could taste the shrimp but mainly tasted the vegetables. Free chips and 4 choices of salsa as well. read more

This is one of my favorite lunch places right now - they always have something new to offer. The staff is usually very nice - sometimes they can be a bit curt but it is a busy place. I got the Surf Taco, Grilled Shrimp Taco, and Steak Taco. Surf taco was definitely the best in my opinion. The grilled shrimp taco was good too and had a lot of flavor, but the amount of lettuce and vegetables they put in the taco masks the taste a little. Being from California, I am always a little judicious about tacos, burritos, and Mexican food in general. Didn't think, and wasn't told, that Surf Taco would be an amazing experience. When I ordered the surf burrito, I was pleasantly surprised. The cod filets were juicy, well broiled, and fried to golden brown. The sauce, rice, and vegetable perfectly complemented the cod. I would advise on a little less sauce in the burrito in total. Nice place to stop in at to grab a quick bite on the Jersey Shore. read more
