I have been a customer of this car wash for 2+ yrs. I have always been given a new scent when I ask for it. The "manager-(child)" told me that the car wash I pay for does not come with fresher, they are a dollar more. A 2 cent piece of plastic is a dollar. The attitude of the employees was superior to me. Well there are other car washes in town, I will research them. Times are tough for everyone, there is no need to be snide. Not good customer service. read more

Must say I am impressed by the quality of service. It was my first time there and enjoy everything from the employees to the equipment provided by this place. I will admit they missed a spot but still it wasnt something I couldnt have just wiped off. Employees who scrub the cars at first should do more scrubbing on spotS of the car that the machines wont reach as great. I've made my peace with the fact that the dryers don't do a good job and just keep a towel in my cars. Today I got a wash before a trip and also purchased one of the glass cleaning wipes to clean my windows since it had been a couple weeks since I cleaned them. DO NOT GET THE GLASS CLEANING WIPES HERE. After I cleaned all of my windows, there were spots on the inside of the windshield, and huge obvious streaks all over the rest of the windows. It was so bad that I had to stop at Walmart and buy their brand of glass wipes, which did a whole lot better than the ones here. This place is a scam. I use my vehicle through the mountains every day for work and I had a cargo carrier hitch. After going through the wash a few times with the new carrier I was told Im not allowed to go through the wash with it. They stopped the entire car wash due to the fact that I couldn't get the carrier off the vehicle without the correct tools. It was quite embarrassing. After speaking with the manager, I was scammed out of two months apparently due to policy. I was in there on the first of the month two days before the next payment would be due. The employees have always been friendly, but the actual wash isn't great. The few times I've gone to this car wash, it either completely left the back of my car the same (as if the water and soap never touched it) or it only put soap on my car, no water or anything else so I had to go through again. I prefer the Surf Thru out by Walmart. I've never had issues at that one. read more

Over a year ago, a giant spinning brush that washed your hood and windshield failed, dragging it up and across the front of our vehicle causing damage to the grill, hood, windshield and top of vehicle. We painfully went through the proper channels as Andrew wasn't very responsive and got quotes at Surf Thru's vendor, per Andrew the manager. He approved the repairs and the date was set. He wouldn't approve a rental even though they wanted to keep our vehicle for over a week. At this time he wanted to "revisit" the quote. He never called back and won't respond to emails. Just to add to it this locations issues it currently has had a broken brush on the right side for over two months. Due to this it doesn't wash the right side of your vehicle. They've still have been charging people full price and only hand wash. I would rather drive to Sacramento for a car wash than use this vendor after the way Andrew Warren chose to handle this situation. read more

I have never had a problem here and even if the car doesn't get perfectly clean on the first go thru, that's why you buy the monthly plan! Today I felt I would right a review because one of the initial scrub employees went the extra mile. I had some tree sap or berries of some sort that had fallen on my windshield prior and was stuck on there. This employee did the initial scrub, flipped the brush over to try and scrap it off, then went so far to pick the remaining off with his finger, wearing gloves of course, thank you very much!! Well It was a good run. At first I was pretty happy about this place, my truck was nicely washed and had to little drying with a towel. And the vacuums work well. Now you have less than attentive staff, the brushes barely work and doesn't rinse the soap off and the dryer's just blow soap all over, and for some reason it shoots tire dressing on one tire which I don't want. Each time I go to Surf Thru the cashiers are outrageously friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. They answer any questions about the wash policies & ensure the safety of my vehicle. My car comes out squeaky clean the first time & if it doesn't, they rewatch it until it's satisfactory. Not to mention, I can use the free vacuums after my wash. Super pleased with everything this wash offers. I wish more people came onto Yelp to share positive reviews instead of keeping it to themselves. Only angry people come on Yelp, so these reviews are far from truthful in my many experiences with this location in particular. read more

You obviously go to a car wash with a new car because you want to upkeep the new appearance (for the shady subliminal comments mentioning that). People can support this car wash if they want but I know for a fact that when this new car wash opened up, they damaged my car. If they weren't as rude when dealing with my damage I would have went on my way. They specifically went out of their way to ignore my claims when I tried to handle this privately and will only respond to reviews online. I believe that good customer service can mend a lot of things and this I something that I simply did not receive at any point in this process. The fact that multiple people have privately messaged me with similar stories therefor verified that this wasn't a one time incident. For any damage they will claim it is pre-exsisting no matter if the car is new, old, indifferent. I could hire an eight year old kid to do a better job for $10. I have gone multiple times, and usually only get the highest tier which is the "ultimate" for $14. It never does a great job. I always have to clean it more after I go through. The wash doesn't even clean behind my rear wheels, so it doesn't even look washed. Oh, and the tire shine? It either puts WAY too much on, or only cleans literally half of all 4 tires. And it makes the wheels all funky looking, so you have to wipe off the excess after. For $14 this car wash should be much better than this. I doubt I'll ever go back. I suppose I'll miss the 5 minutes of the scent clips' smell. And the half wet dash wipes. read more

Car wash was okay I think you can get a better car wash at any gas station and for much cheaper. When I went I got the regular basic wash and as I was drying my car I noticed there was a sticky residue left around random areas of my car like the windows and doors. Maybe they need to clean the machines or something bcuz it took me longer to take off the sticky residue than the time my car took in the car wash itself.. Awesome car wash! Today I got my car washed and while vacuuming an attendant came out and told me that he missed the bugs on my bumper and allowed me to go back through again so they can make sure and get them. I usually have a good experience but I really felt like this was exceptional customer service and a great follow up by the attendant. I've had a monthly membership with Surf thru Express car wash for 7 months now. I've gone to that car wash to get my car cleaned and more then not my car is still dirty because there equipment is broken and not working right and they tell me this after they have taken my money knowly knowing that there car wash is not up to par. It isn't in till I have to take my car back around and show them my cars not clean then they tell me that its not working right and give me the option to go back through again?? Why the hell would I go through again when it didn't work the first time??? So I messaged them telling them I want to be refunded for the last 2 months because I pay the monthly membership and I want my membership canceled. Andrew who says he the owner calls me tells me that the car wash is broken and they are waiting for a part from Canada I believe he said and he's sorry about that. So disappointed, there were scratches on the hood of my car when we got out to vacuum it. The car also still had areas that were not clean. Another person in the car next to us, also complained that her car wasn't clean after going through the wash as well to an employee. We showed the damage to my car to one of the employees who took pictures. They had us fill out a form for the damage. I assumed they would fix the scratches. I received a call a day or so later from the company saying it was to dark in their video to see if the scratches were already there and they would not fix it. I see another comment below someone had the same thing happen. I will probably file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well, since I am not the only one that has had this experience. read more

I went through the wash the other night 9/17/2021. We have a membership so I can go through the the membership gate. When I was going through the gate didn't see the trash can door on the other side was left open as I drove through it nicked into my car. I stop right there at the turn and got out to look at my car, I didn't notice anything but it was dark so I walked over to the gate, and waited for my turn she was helping another customer. Showed her the door was open, and it smacked my car. She walked over to the door shut and said sorry it was an accident, then went and looked at my car said she didn't see anything. I asked her to take my name and number and said if I seen marks I would be calling. She took it and said she would leave a note with it explaining everything. I've been going here almost since they opened on the Esplanade in Chico and have never had a problem. Thanks to Casey who works there, that all changed today. I'm a 77 year old lady who went in this evening about 5:15pm, asked for the $9 Express with a young woman who came out to help me; I paid her $9 in cash, she opened the gate to let me enter telling me to have a nice evening. As I pulled up to the wash area a young ...man? came running out of the building yelling that I didn't pay for the car wash and I couldn't proceed. I told him I did indeed pay for it with the young lady inside and he said, No, You didn't ! He said it twice more, that I didn't pay for the wash. I told him he needed to check with the lady inside before accusing me. So he made me wait there, with now three other cars behind me, and went to check. He then came out and told the people washing that I could proceed, without saying a word to Me. I told him he needed to apologize to me because I'm not in the habit of stealing merchandise or services from anyone and he stood there in front of those other customers and told me he would not apologize for accusing me of stealing and that I didn't deserve an apology. If I could give 0 stars believe me I would. So i go to this car and get the $14 wash, I leave believing I received what I paid for. But then i get to my destination I realize there a black oily film on the lower part of my car so I go back to the car wash and attempt to to explain myself situation to one of the workers and as I'm doing so another young lady in the background start to put in her two cents with a very sarcastic attitude as if I'm disrupting their job. So ask her who are you and she says tara and identifies herself as a manager, but has this very childish sarcastic attitude that I just wasn't in the mood to deal with. So I ask her could you get me someone higher then you to take care of this situation, and she continued to refuse so I told her as a manager you're supposed to defuse situation not add to them. I love going to this place I'm a member but tonight my kids and I went to vaccume and wash the car and was treated very rudely by the manager his name is Nick when we first got there I told my kids to sit down and eat their Taco Bell and my 3 year put her taco on the ground still in the rapper well nick came over and told my boys to pick up their trash he then walked away and came back 5 minutes later and asked me if I paid the 2$ fee to vaccume my car out I told no I didn't pay a fee I'm a member he then told me that I needed to wash my car first and then vaccume it out and I said that I donot need to do that in that order I then asked him his name and he put his hand over his name on his jacket and said he can ask me to leave if he wanted to then he said he could have my membership revoked it was unacceptable service from him he told me he was the manager after I asked him if he was new or something because my kids and I are there a few times a week like you would think he would have recognized us I mean all the other employees are always giving my kids Lolly pops they talk to my kids my kids are very good well mannered kids I mean I drive a mini van for god sakes mamas gotta keep the vehicle clean right . We have been using the Surf Thru car wash since the first location opened in Chico. We were thrilled when the Esplanade site opened as it is closer to our work and home. We have been patient with this new car wash as it seemed there were a lot of "bugs" to work out after opening - the wrong washes getting administered, them stopping the wash mid-cycle multiple visits for various reasons, but this last visit was the last straw. The first time through the wash we got the wrong wash, so went through a second time. The next time the undercarriage spray rig hung up on the bottom of the car and it got stuck. So stuck that the car behind bumped us. No one at the wash noticed and stopped the wash prior to the incident. Needless to say, the car was still not clean. The staff removed the spray rig and after a THIRD time through the wash, we finally had a clean car. And now a $1,000 quote for damage to the underside plus the rear bumper scratch. The kicker? The car wash claims "there must have been prior damage you were unaware of" and will not take responsibility. That's pretty lousy customer service if you ask me. And we will be finding a new car wash that will actually get our cars clean - the first time. read more

Surf Thru has taken over last place where I will have my car washed. The car wash on Mangrove had been last place. Surf Thru employees are great young women and men. They are aware of customers. They easily smile and welcomed me - as all customers, I noticed, which is very good. The problem is the wash. It does not work at all. I paid the $14.00 Ultimate. Tire black on two tires dried and disappeared. The other two tires were blacked, which disappeared by the time I drove home, about three miles away. The wash itself was so bad that I had to go through a second time. The employees readily acknowledged a bad wash - no problem, each said, with this mess - and arranged a second wash; in fact, they said go through as many times it takes to get an average wash. The second time through is ok. The wash is so bad that it barely washed off the pollen, which is the easiest mess to remove. I will drive way over to Skyway Wash from now on. Skyway Wash remains the best car wash ever - and I have been all over the world using car washes. South Korea tops all of them. read more
