We love this place! I felt happy the moment I walked in. I saw all the different types of ice cream to choose from that is self-serve. You can try all the different flavors and decide what you want to get. They also have a station where you can choose a variety of different toppings. It was so delicious! I just wanted to continue eating more. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. They were patient with us as we tried all the different flavors. Pricey, like any similar place seems to be, but they are a true community asset as far as I can tell. I guess we've been going for 7 years, whenever we're in town - at both their original and new, huge location. Staff is always super friendly and the place is so cute and beachy. The variety of seating out front at the new spot is so fun and comfortable. It's all great. I do wish they offered more for vegans, but we've always found good stuff in the few things they do have. This place was FANTASTIC! I am so upset we visited Surfin Spoon on my last night in town. There is simply nothing that comes close to the quality of the yogurt here. I went simple with vanilla and chocolate. I didn't get much chocolate and I regretted that choice for sure. I wanted to fill'er'up again! They have toppings for days too. Once you get past the fruit, there is a great selection of candies and crushed cookies to choose from. Along with the syrupy walnuts and tons of sauces. Soooo good. Once I finished my yogurt, I challenged my niece to a good old fashioned butt kickin in foosball but she didn't want these problems. But another friend did and we played for a while. There were only six balls though which kinda stunk. That's the only reason he won. He didn't want a rematch because he knew I'd win the next time since I was good and warmed up. Next to Foosball, they have some of the claw games that take your money but you can't resist trying. Beside that was an arcade game that offered PacMan and Asteroids I think. Just a note to fellow patrons, I please follow the rules they have clearly stated at the beginning of the line. If you can not read, then ask for help, those rules are there for very clear reasons. Also, please do not lick/munch down at your ice cream before putting on your toppings and then mash down your toppings with the communal serving spoon, as I witnessed another patron do. We love you, surfin' spoon!!! To adhere to current Covid-19 protocols, they have changed the self serve to making all of the cups for you. You can get up to three toppings and pick your size for different prices. They are doing an EXCELLENT job following social distancing guidelines and even have a "bouncer" outside on busy nights regulating how many people are allowed inside at one time, which is great! We didn't plan on coming here, but as we were walking to another destination the cute decor and beautiful flowers planted sporadically outside caught our eye. From what I've heard it's normally a self-serve place, but because of Covid we had to tell them what we wanted on our ice cream so they could make it. They made our ice cream exactly the way we asked, and served it up with smiles and stories about the area. They have a pretty good variety of toppings and flavors to choose from. When entering I noticed money everywhere! On the walls, on pictures, around the doorframe, and even on the ceiling! I thought maybe they were their tips until one of the employees stated that all the money collected throughout their little business gets donated. We love this place and were so happy to find it open and practicing great social distancing! They have two windows, one for ordering and one for picking up orders, and both have hand sanitizer available. There are clear lines set up to manage multiple customers safely. And the lady taking and filling our order was masked. The frozen yogurt here is always great. We love all the toppings and flavors. My MIL got chocolate covered almond and thoroughly enjoyed it. Spend a late September week in Nags Head--first time there in decades. Most of the frozen yoghurt places where we live have disappeared so decided to try this place for desert after dinner. Very structured "workflow" to go through, which at first, as a new customer, was a little confusing, but friendly help provided when I asked. And the choices of flavors is and the choice of toppings enormous. Though they have three cup sizes, they actually price by weight. And it's self-serve for the yoghurt and the toppings, so you can get exactly what and how much you want--multiple yo flavors and a dozen toppings if you want. Recommended?
