Ordered delivery because I was craving a seafood boil. I actually love boiling crab so much that I've been put off from eating seafood anywhere else but surfing crab might just be added to my list. I ordered the Cajun lobster, crab and mussels. Although the sauce wasn't as thick as I'm used to, it was very delicious. I also got fried shrimp which was amazing and it was actually fried the same way they fry it at boiling crab. One thing that surprised me was that potatoes and corn were added without needing to add them onto the order. Overall, this place was freaking delish and its so close and convenient. This is one of my favorite restaurants for crab boil for a lot of reasons. We always order the number 2, with double shrimp, and it comes with crab, sausage, potatoes, and corn. The amount of food, size of the items, and taste is pretty consistent each time. The crab legs are pretty good sized and not skimpy legs. The sausage is sliced thin and oval shaped. They have a variety of seasonings you can get, or you can have the surfin special, which is all of them combined. There are different spice levels as well, which is the only complaint I have. The spice levels are never accurate. If you order the mild in one bag and the fire on another, you end up getting basically the same level. The fire is never spicy, except maybe twice that we've gone, and we go a lot. I'm not sure why, maybe it depends on whose in the back, or what time of day you go, but either way we always go with the expectation it won't be very spicy. I can live with that, since I like everything else and it's conveniently located for me, however I do wish they would improve in this area as it's needed. I like that when they bring out your bag, they bring a large circular tray, and will dump it in there for you on request. This is very helpful and so much less mess. They will also bag the leftovers back up to take at the end. They provide a bib, wet nap, tools, while you eat, and you can get gloves upon request. The decor is kind of cheesy, but in a good way. With lots of oversized sea creatures, it makes you feel like your in a seafood joint Owned by Mr. Krabs. It's spacious as well, with a mix of booths and tables. They line the table with paper like any traditional seafood boil place. They do have a bar as well which is pretty well stocked. I have had a few of their drinks and they are fine, nothing that was so good I remember the name though. Overall I highly suggest checking the place out. They also have plenty of other items on the menu besides the boils, for people who might not want that. read more

We ordered the 3 combo ( 2 orders of shrimp and 1 black mussels ) with snow crab legs with the surfing special sauce. It came with corn, potatoes , sausage and we added hard boiled eggs. We also ordered 2 sides of rice and 1 ramen. These sides just absorbed the saice and it was so good. Everything was delicious. They give you gloves, a bib, wet wipe, shell cracker, and a bucket for your shells. They have daily drink specials and that night was the Bellini. It's a spacious restaurant with a full bar. The Surfing Crab has no clue on proper cooking and spicing of the green mussels and the crayfish. Waaay too much butter and garlic. No taste here, just dump it on. Bag cooking is a cliche, unless done skillfully. Folks fall for the uniqueness of it. Not me. And most crawdad savvy people know to twist the tail 180 degrees and pull to remove the "poop pipe" before cooking to prevent souring the meat with feces. They don't do that. read more

I would def recommend coming for their lunch menu, I orders a little boil for 18.99 and everything in it was amazing! the size of the seafood really surprised me since it was lunch time but you really get your bang for ya buck, it even came with some corn and sausage pieces which really tied it all together. The food at surfing crab is AMAZING! We came here on Christmas because it was open and it is very comparable to kickin crab which is where I usually go. We ordered 2 of the their #1 combos with 4 pounds shrimp and 2 pounds of Manila clams. The Manila clams were huge and the combos came with corn, sausage, and potatoes. It was all loaded with flavor and delicious! We got medium spice but the spice wasn't too bad. We also ordered their fries. I will say the fries at kickin crab are better, these fries were just a bit thick for my liking. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, it was pretty busy for Christmas. The service was okay, our server was a bit short with us and often forgot to bring stuff that we asked (ex. Salt and pepper). Not ideal so our appetizers went cold to avoid our main meal getting cold. Biggest issue - we were a table of 7 and only received 6 meals. My order didn't get entered into the system despite the waitress having it on her paper. Most of us were done apart from 1 and we were given the bill. No offer for coffee or dessert which we wanted. When it came to ordering dessert what the menu said was not accurate which can happen. We were told strawberry or chocolate for the lava cake ice cream. This restaurant opened up maybe 8 months ago very close to our home. This was our first visit here. I typically don't like these kind of places and they seem to run rapid in San Diego. My husband ordered the pick two combo which actually was 3 kinds of seafood. He choose the crayfish and squid, which came with a crab leg cluster, sausage a few potatoes and a corn cobbette. He had the cajun seasoning with medium spice. He enjoyed this messy buttery meal. Though the seafood was previously frozen, as it was hard to decant from its shells. I ordered a fried basket as I don't like to play and work for my food. I had the flounder and shrimp. The coating I think was corn meal which is classic southern. I prefer a different type of coating on my seafood (other then Catfish) but it was tasty. The highlight was the Cajun fries, a bit of heat and stayed crispy. A solid seafood boil restaurant for the family! It's really spacious and the serving sizes are great for sharing and eating family-style. The service was quick and friendly. What a nice addition to the North County Escondido area! (If you are familiar with the area, the location used to be Macaroni Grill). We came here for Sunday lunch with no wait and were quickly seated and served. Each person in our party ordered one of their combo deals. You can choose from shrimp (head on and off, off is an additional $3), crawfish, clam, manila clam, black mussel, green mussel, and calamari. Each combo comes with potatoes, sausage, and corn. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions! Each combo came with two potatoes, two corn, and tons of sausage, so in combination with the seafood, it was a ton of food. Two people in our party ordered the combo #3 which came with a 6 oz lobster tail - they were also pleasantly surprised with the size of the lobster tail. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and we were very satisfied with the pricing, portions, and friendly service. They did not offer bibs or gloves, but there was an individual bucket for trash on each table which was very convenient. Ambiance is casual with dim lighting throughout the restaurant. Large selection of food to choose from which was good as my husband hates seafood so he ordered Asian. Atmosphere was very pleasant, comfortable but not too crowded, a combo of booths and tables. We got the $155.99 Hook's Special to feed 5 people. It was a huge tray that came out. We got it with the surfing special sauce. There wasn't much of a kick to it. It mainly tasted like butter which was too much for me. I like when the sauces are more garlic-y and there more seasoning to it. I had to add lime to it to really enjoy it. I forgot to request head-on shrimp but confirmed with our server that it is possible to switch it out, however, you may get less because they go by weight. Our server/bartender was fun! We ordered the combo menu with 2 options of seafood. We got shrimp and mussel. Its good but the serving is smaller than i was expecting. The calamari is crunchy but tasteless. We received our appetizers first (raw oysters the adults and chicken nuggets for our son). The oysters are huge. We ordered the pick 3 combo and ordered 3 lbs of headless shrimp. The combos come with sausage, corn and potatoes. I was glad I didn't have to order any sides besides a few cups of rice. The seafood and fish items looked good, too, but will have to wait until our next visit. I had the chicken with broccoli and it was so tender and perfectly seasoned. For about $14 on their lunch specials, you select from their entree list, then add white or fried rice, and SOUP! I had the hot and sour soup and it, too, was also delicious. "Carrie" was in charge of the bar and table service and she explained their extensive menu choices to us before we ordered. She was also nice and attentive.
