It's definitely at a prime location being on the second floor of a stunning yellow corner building/hotel in the middle of town. We walked in with no reservation and got seated within 5 minutes. Easy peasy. Our waitress was not exactly friendly and she hardly checked on our table so we found we were waiting for quite some time to order our food and to also get the check. Other tables around us were also twirling their thumbs waiting for the check too. :/ I ordered the clam chowder and mac and cheese. The clam chowder was great! Probably an 8.5/10. The clams were veryyy chewy but other than that, it was great. I also got the mac and cheese which came in a huge bowl and was topped with a wild ratio of crumbs on top. I wasn't too crazy about the overall flavor nor the texture. Both my friends got individual pizzas and unfortunately they each only ate 1 or 2 slices max. The dough was undercooked and it was lacking flavor and sauce. We also got drinks and I got the Summer Sangria which was delicious but they got a vodka lemonade and a dirty Shirley and they legit both tasted like there was no alcohol - not in a cool "woahhh this is dangerously good I can hardly taste it!" way, but more so "we just got charged for an alcoholic drink and it had nothing in it" way.

We were here on Monday 7.8.24 on a hot summer day but the air in Inn on the Blues was KICKING so much so I had to run and get sweatshirts (from the multitude of gift shops) for the little ones. Fisherman Basket with fried scallops, cod, shrimp and clams (YES with the bellies pfft I'm a New Englander after all) lightly breaded and so fresh. You'll need to ask for cocktail sauce if you would like to dip your shrimp in some. Little Bit had the philly cheese steak, I think it was good and my Son-in-law had the Atomic burger which he cleaned the plate so that is always a good sign, those onion rings were the bomb-diggity too! The grandkids devoured there food as well Kai especially liked the Pasta with plain butter and Khaleesi kept talking about the brioche bun for her burger A+A+A+. Those Crab Cakes with the Aioli is an ABSOLUTE must! Crust was crunchy and the meat inside was delicate and sweet just the right seasoning. LOVED this dish the most. View is awesome the music was upbeat and there was plenty of room for groups of 8-10 people. Full bar and we ordered shots to begin... because WHY NOT? it was our last full day of vacation! Located right on the main street and parking is across the street (if you are lucky to find it during the summer rush) I believe there is also parking around back towards the Zoo. Cheap it was not however, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again just for those crab cakes. Respectfully Reviewed.

It was a quiet evening but relaxing and our server was terrific and friendly. I had a local brew (The Lunch IPA, I think) and then my wife and I started off with a dozen oysters - which were a buck-a-shuck on this Tuesday! Great deal! The oysters were good, cold and mild. I had my lobster dinner and it was delicious. I added a cup of clam chowder which was also very nice. I only wish the sides - which were dinner rolls, corn kernels, and cole slaw - included a baked potato but oh well. My wife had their fried haddock taco salad and she said it was very good. We then shared a slice of excellent chocolate truffle cake - that and a couple of cups of hot strong coffee plus the tranquil view of the Piscataqua River outside - made for a lovely evening.

This place didn't look like much on the outside, but the inside was clean, neat and beautiful. Our waitress Morgan came and took our order as they were not that busy. I ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder and the Baked Haddock which consisted of Haddock topped with Cracker Crumbs, Sherry, Butter, and Lobster Cream Sauce served with Asparagus and Mashed Potato. I changed my Asparagus to Corn on the Cob. My wife ordered the same thing minus the Clam Clowder. It took a while for Morgan to bring out our Haddock meals, but I must tell you they looked amazing. First thing I asked Morgan did she forget our Clam Chowder and could we please get butter for our Corn. I did want the Clam Chowder first as an appetizer and butter should always go with Corn, but it was the last thing we got. These are simple mistakes that should not have happened if you're on the ball. I must be honest; the food was amazing. The Haddock flavor was out of this world. The Mashed were ok and the Corn was fine, but the star of the show was the Haddock for sure. I would have given this place a 5-star rating as their food was that good, but the service was not up to par. I must only give this place 4 stars. The following year, the first electric trains arrived in York via the Portsmouth, Kittery and York Railway. Many travelers on the railway began to frequent the Goldenrod, and its popularity soon boomed. In addition to their fine meals, they became well-known for their delicious 'Goldenrod Kisses': saltwater taffy that Talpey pulled by hand while standing in the front window. Today the Goldenrod is known for its delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, dinner plates, homemade candies, and fountain specialties prepared with their homemade ice cream. The current owner is Dave Peck. My extended family and I visited the Goldenrod this past summer while we were spending the week in York. We stopped for lunch one day after spending the morning at nearby Short Sands Beach. We absolutely loved the nostalgic feel that you get as soon as you walk in. At a place like this, you definitely need to order a specialty fountain drink. I enjoyed a delicious "Old Fashioned Chocolate Egg Cream" while my wife enjoyed a "Root Beer Float". For food, I ordered a "Turkey Salad Triple Decker" (w/ crisp bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle slices & chips), my wife had a "Grilled Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich" (w/ lettuce, tomato, pickel slices & chips), our older son had a "Sliced Turkey Sandwich" (w/ lettuce, tomato, pickel slices & chips), and our younger son had a "Grilled Cheese Sandwich" (w/ lettuce, tomato, pickel slices & chips). We all really enjoyed our meals; our other family members enjoyed their lunch too! Before leaving, we purchased some of the Goldenrod's delicious homemade chocolates as well as their Goldenrod Kisses. We really enjoyed watching them make the fresh taffy in the window with the same copper kettle, taffy pulling hook, and candy shears that have produced countless other candies. If you are planning a visit to York then we highly recommend a visit to the Goldenrod!

One of the best meals we have had in York. The fresh asparagus with crab sauce was wonderful, as was the fried cheese with an asiago cream sauce. Both a must try from the starter menu. Dinners were the short rib served over cheddar mashed. Replaced the spinach option with the potato and so glad we did. So good. The other entree was the roasted duck with XO sauce. Cooked perfectly and with a crispy skin. Served over fried rice served on a bed of the sauce and yogurt. Perfect compliment. Our entire bill for 2 cocktails, 2 starters, and 2 entrees came to $117 before tax and tip. You cannot find this quality food for that price anywhere else. Service was also excellent. There was constant attention without being overwhelming. Our server Courtney was on the mark. The service from others for water refills, to food delivery, and attention to detail was a very high level of care. All was perfectly choreographed for a full dinning room . So unusual to see such great front of house training for service. Dining room was lively and very cozy. Beautiful fireplace with seating for cocktails.
