Excellent. The food is top-notch. Everything is excellent. This trip we had the muscles appetizer and split the prime rib. The muscles were perfect pump and perfectly cooked. I couldn't believe we were ordering prime rib, and seafood house, then I tasted the prime rib and it was excellent excellent. I'm very fussy with my prime rib and it passed the test. The drinks are great, the service is great.

Very disappointed in our recent visit. It was beautiful out, so we ordered from the takeout window and sat on the patio. Seating area was nice, employee was nice, we have been at Mike's many time over the 30 years we've been going to Wells. Received our food within 10 minutes; we shared the fried seafood platter with sweet potato fries and cole slaw as sides. Opened the box and I noticed that the onion rings and potatoes made up 2/3rds of the box. The box was damp and the seafood looked greasy. It was not only greasy, but tasteless. It's sad because we have always enjoyed Mike's in the past, but the last 2 visits have been sub par. This will be our last visit.

    Fish and chips

The lighting was comically poor -- the dining room so dim I had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu, turning dinner into an impromptu archaeology dig. The haddock fish & chips was the highlight of disappointment. It screamed "frozen fish soaked in water" from the first bite: the fillet fell apart like wet tissue the second I touched it, the batter was soggy and greasy rather than crisp, and the whole thing tasted like regret with a side of freezer burn. The chips were forgettable, and the portions were surprisingly skimpy for the price.

So mid and over priced. Never have been to a place that doesn't serve fries with a lobster roll. $30 for a lobster roll- fine price extra $3 for fries. Clam chowder was one of the worst I have ever had. Coconut shrimp was delicious, so severely overpriced- $17 for 6 pieces. Paid $60 for 3 things, not including the $17 drink. Place gives stingy, tourist trap will not be back.

Early dinner during the week. Was seated right away in one of the booths. Server came quick. Menu looks like it was updated, decided to have the seafood scampi. Entrees came very quick which delighted us. Guess we got on just in time as the dinner rush started after we came in. Scampi packed a little bit of flavor, but was OK.

I'll be blunt, it's an overpriced "Tourist Trap". 30 bucks for a diminutive size lobster roll. Breading on fried items was blah. $11.95 for a fried zucchini appetizer is a bad joke. 80 bucks for a lunch which still left us hungry is extremely disappointing. I recommend the Maine Diner if you are wanting to stop in Wells for a good meal. Not much more to say.

We were third in line to check in and the host pretty much ignored the line. There were plenty of tables, but he was hyper focused on everything except the people wanting a table. He finally sat a couple and assisted someone with their take out order. We were next. He wouldn't even look at us - he started packing a few take out orders then finally acknowledged us. No smile, just "Hi." Judd was our server and he was good. He did what he was supposed to, but was also quite busy and never checked on us and didn't ask about refills on drinks until we were finished our food. At $4 per soda, we would have wanted that refill. I ordered the haddock picatta and my husband ordered the fish and chips. Both dishes looked impressive with large portions, but both pieces of fish were overcooked and the fish and chips was dry. Both dishes were flavorless. Like zero salt. The only thing that had any flavor on my dish was the mashed potatoes. This place is now on the list of "never again."

What we ordered: -Cornbread: 3/5, great portion to share with the table and piping hot which I loved but wish it was moister and had more honey on top. -Caesar salad: 5/5, incredibly fresh, dressing was delicious and evenly spread among the whole salad, fresh anchovies on top were a nice touch -Crabcakes: 4.8/5, only comes with 2 but the cakes were very fresh and flavorful. The corn on top was very boring I wish they spiced it up a bit but it did not take away from the flavor of the cakes so I kept the score high. -Lobster Pappardelle: 5/5, one of my favorite meals we ate on vacation!! Generous lobster portion with perfectly cooked pappardelle in a very tasty sauce. I already miss it and wish I could eat it again. -Braised Short Rib: 3.8/5, beautiful presentation and everything tasted great but very small polenta/carrot portions and I wish the meat was more tender. It wasn't bad, it just didn't blow my socks off. -Espresso crème brûlée: 4.5/5, was the perfect birthday dessert for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. Quality espresso flavor, wish it was a little crispier on top. Food was ~4/5 but our overall experience was 5/5. Our server, Pedro, was so friendly and helped us with dish recommendations. When I told him we were celebrating a birthday, he brought the crème brûlée out with a candle and two other staff members to sing to him which was so sweet. We will definitely come back here next time we're in town!

We sat at a table by the window on the first floor. We overheard that there is an upstairs bar, not sure if they also seat folks for dinner there. We were able to place an order right after getting settled. We enjoyed the Sun mocktail, charred beet salad, mac and cheese, fried codd sandwich, steak frites, and corn ravioli (without the pancetta). My spouse is gluten free and I am vegetarian so we are always looking for restaurants that can accommodate both. The charred beet salad was good but I think dressed a bit too heavily. I thought the corn ravioli and sun mocktail were both great. The kids (ages 1.5 and 5) liked the Mac and cheese and fried cod sandwich. They did not have any appropriate booster seats for the 1.5 year old so my spouse held him. My spouse loved the steak frites but I think wished had a few more "frites" given the amount of interest from the younger crowd. Our waiter was wonderful and also brought some orange slices from the bar for the kids. We were very grateful. We decided to go nearby for ice cream after dinner, but I heard there is a dessert menu.

The highlight for me is, without question, the two-foot lobster roll. It's huge, loaded with fresh lobster from end to end, and served on a perfectly soft sub roll. Every time I order it, I'm reminded why I keep coming back. It's not just a novelty because of the size. It's genuinely delicious, generously filled, and an incredible value for the amount of lobster you get. It's easily one of my favorite lobster rolls anywhere. The restaurant has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that's great for families, couples, or anyone looking for a relaxed meal. The staff is consistently kind and attentive, and Barb always stands out. She's warm, friendly, and genuinely makes guests feel appreciated. It's refreshing to find a place that's been so consistent over multiple visits. Great food, generous portions, and people who clearly care about their customers keep me coming back. If you're in the area, don't leave without trying the two-foot lobster roll!

We came here at around 5PM on a Monday, you know, prime time dinner hours, and the place wasn't too busy (it definitely got busier). This place screams New England from the second you walk in to the second you leave. The cozy environment and seafood based menu kind of makes picking what to order pretty easy, especially when a two foot long lobster roll is a menu staple, so that's exactly what I ordered. The lobster roll came with chips that I wasn't even able to touch since the giant roll and lobster consumed every inch of my stomach (I really should have gotten a smaller one). I gotta be honest here, I ordered the giant lobster roll hot and with butter and I couldn't even tell if butter was used or not. I think my main issue is how dense the roll is, at some point I had to just start taking the lobster off since the bread was so thick. Overall, Bull N' Claw is a solid seafood restaurant in a state built on sea food restaurants. I totally get why my parents love this place, but the lobster roll itself was pretty bland compared to other ones I've had in the area and I probably won't be returning on future trips to New England. The staff was great, the place looks really cool, and this place is definitely somewhere worth checking out because it might just be a favourite for you.
