Dr. Ishioka's care is exceptional. Both of my kids (3 and 6) went to another dentist previously and it was traumatic to say the least. They were terrified to go but Dr. Ishioka was so kind, so gentle, used child-friendly language, and truly listened to both the kids and to me as their mom to ensure that everyone was comfortable throughout. Her communication with me as a parent was excellent, both before their appointments and for follow up afterwards. My 3 year old had to have a tooth extracted and I was shocked at how calmly and patiently she approached him and explained everything to him. She listened to him when he needed a break and really went above and beyond to ensure that the procedure was successful -- without sedation! She even called afterwards to make sure he was okay. My 6 year old is pretty sensitive and nervous and she used a variety of excellent tools and strategies to ensure that he got a good quality cleaning, exam, and x-rays while still going at his pace without forcing or pressuring him. I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Ishioka and her team. We'll absolutely continue care with her and my kids are actually looking forward to their next visit! read more

My kids have had 4 different pediatric dentists because of various moves we have made. All were good at their jobs, but Dr. Ishioka is the sweetest, kindest dentist we have encountered. Her care for her patients is unparalleled. On our second appointment, she knew us all by name and even recalled what we had chatted about during our previous appt 6 months ago. Today, my son had a stubborn loose tooth removed and she was so gentle and efficient. My son was slightly apprehensive before the appointment, but walked away with a positive interaction despite having a tooth pulled. She called at the end of the day to check to see if my son was doing ok and gave us some tips. It's a busy office, but I know why people go to and stay with Dr. Ishioka. I was referred to Dr. Ishioka from a colleague for my 3-year-old grandson who was complaining of tooth pain. Hands-down, the BEST experience I could have hoped for! From the moment I called to schedule the appointment, to the day of his exam -- exceptional attention and patient care! The office is welcoming with kid-friendly and nervous-parent accommodations (some exam rooms have glass doors as opposed to solid when separation is necessary). The exam rooms are complete with ceiling-mounted TVs so as to occupy your little one while the doctors and hygienists take care of business. Dr. Ishioka -- a God-send to little ones with dental needs! She's so kind and soft-spoken and got down to eye level to comfort my grandson. She even gave his stuffed dinosaur a quick exam and x-ray (for pretend, of course) and he thought that was the greatest thing ever! Unfortunately, his needs warranted the attention of an oral surgeon (whom I will also leave a review for-Dr. David Telles-H.B.) Dr. Ishioka referred us and still maintained contact with my daughter to follow up and help ensure my grandson's procedure was scheduled as soon as possible as well as inquired about his recovery. Today, three days post-surgery, my grandson is doing wonderfully! The only regret is that we didn't start his pediatric dental care with Dr. Ishioka; we will certainly continue with her, though! read more

I have been with Dr Ishioka ever since I was a kid as my dentist and now I am 26 years old and still seeing her as my orthodontist. I am so grateful to her for taking good care of me for the past 15-20 years! I recently just went in to see her for a broke retainer cause I admit was not wearing them as I should have and she and her staff took good care of me in making sure they get them fixed for me as soon as possible for such a small price. We went to Dr. Ishioka, known to patients as Dr. Susan, after having had orthodontic consults at two other places and having been told that my daughters needed braces. Dr. Ishioka took the time to ask questions, exam facial structure and alignment, observe how they swallowed, etc. and told them how beautiful their smiles were, how kind and smart they came across to her. Both teens needed to hear all that. And...both were told they did not needed braces! Stunning. Imagine going to a skilled surgeon and told one does not need surgery, or to a reputable mechanic and told the car is running just fine. While I adore Dr. Ishioka and Dr. Pai for themselves, the staff are RUDE and unprofessional. I feel that Dr. Ishioka and Dr. Pai are very caring individuals, and are always very helpful and kind. They seem very concerned for each patient. I have been bringing my children to Dr. Ishioka for over 12 years, when she was still a part of Dr. Laos office. However, I am beginning to question their judgement. I understand some of her staff has been with her for a long while. Maybe that's what makes them so secure of their jobs that they are so rude?? Not all of the staff are so obnoxious, but the majority of the rude, nasty people work at the front desk. I'm sure that's not the image the dentists want to project. She needs to send them to etiquette or customer service training. read more

We are very picky about our pediatric dentist as we had some issues in the past. Dr. Ishioka and staff are very nice and good at what they do. My 4 year old had a cavity right between his front two teeth, and Dr Joe was able to fill it without it coming off and not damaging the nerves of the teeth. I can even floss between his front teeth without any problems. Dr Ishioka is an orthodontist and she is honest in her assessments and will not push for braces unless necessary. We will stay with this team for a while. The hygienists are thorough too. read more

BEST DENTIST EVER. My daughter had had some bad experiences with dentists from the age of 4. We had experiences of holding her down while she was screaming in the office. I was actually considering sedating her. Then my dentist's office recommended Dr. Susan and everything changed. She's now 11 and looks forward to going to Dr. Susan's. Dr. Ishioka is an amazing dentist and orthodontist -- our family is so glad to have found her! We first came to her because our daughter had an accident resulting in a dental emergency and our regular pediatric dentist would NOT schedule us for an emergency appointment. Dr. Ishioka's office got us right in first thing next morning, even though we were not established patients. From the first visit on, she has been kind, calming, professional, and has always done excellent work for my three kids. We've seen Dr. Virata also and like him very much. We've had emergency repairs/tooth trauma, extractions, fillings, and a whole host of orthodontia there. They are always firm and direct, but never shame my kids about any dental problems they may have or improvements they need to make in their home care. You do have to be on top of scheduling future appointments, as their office is very busy, but I think that's a testament to how popular they are with kids and parents. Our son is autistic and his pediatrician recommended Dr. Susan to us as he is rather high anxiety. WOW, She is great! I cannot believe how well he was with her. We have had both our kids seeing her for the past 4 years and have always been happy with their services. Plus, Dr. Susan is also an orthodontist, so she watches for development and can catch any correction needed early etc. I really like having two doctors in one with her. They have a really nice up to date office and equipment also. The kids and I are both happy. Never a warm welcome when you arrive. If you have to reschedule your appointment you'll have to wait 4-5 months before they can find a spot for you. I am usually made to feel bad if my child has a cavity. They blame it on all of the sugar you feed your kids. Actually, you'll be told that the "sugar bugs" are getting to their teeth (as if you let your kid walk around town with hard candy in their mouths 24/7). By the way, we are diligent brushers and flossers. Also, the orthodontics are pushed from a very young age....presumably because that's a big money maker for them. Dr. Virata, Dr. Ishioka's partner, is fairly young and seems to lack communication skills. He actually talked to the hygienist over my head about my own child. He's an alarmist and has very little positive to say. read more

My son, just started his orthodontic treatment with her office, he got his braces on yesterday, and Dr. Ishioka called before bed just to check on him! We looked at a few other options for orthodontics. Dr. Ishioka's rate was competitive, but she seemed to have the most experience and we felt most comfortable with her. Her office is nice, clean and modern. The office staff is AMAZING! They have always been kind and courteous, and very accommodating with our appointments. My family has been going to Dr. Ishioka and Dr. Pai since 2004. We have also seen their associate, Dr. Verata - all with outstanding results. With a family of 5, we have had cavities, braces, retainers, crowns, broken teeth (permanent and baby teeth) and all of our care was outstanding. The practice is CLEAN, friendly, professional, courteous and we ALWAYS feel like family here! My 5 year old daughter had a dental procedure that made her quite anxious. Dr. Ishioka and her staff had to comfort and calm her during the procedure and it resulted in a very late night for the staff. Her care and comfort was their number one priority and that made such a difference to a 5 year old. I am not sure if Jane Q. encountered someone on a bad day, but that has NEVER been my experience with the front staff, dental hygienists or dentists. Our dental insurance changed to an HMO and this practice is not on the provider panel. We went to a cleaning at the dental provider contracted with our HMO and came back as cash patients. Simply no other dental providers for our family! This practice is busy and the only dental provider I would recommend! We receive the very best for our dental health here. read more

From having cleanings, retainers, red, white, and blue orthodontics, to now braces. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Susan and the staff. My family and I LOVE this place! They work with your schedule and really do put you first. There payment plans are affordable and reasonable! If I ever feel my braces are hurting/ feeling weird, I call and they get me in ASAP (like within an hour sometimes, they are AMAZING). They are beyond helpful and pleasant! I took my daughter since she was 12 months. The doctor is very caring and professional. The most important is that the doctor is knowledgable and compassionate. I do not care much about the front desk, that is why they have those jobs. But personally never had problems with front desk and to Nancy W who posted 1/11/13 please be on time next time. Dr. Ishioka is an answer to prayer for us. She has an amazing connection with kids and does outstanding work. My twelve-year old daughter has severe anxiety and has never been able to have her teeth properly cleaned. When we took her to Dr. Ishioka for the first time, she was able to do a full cleaning, get a full set of X-rays and do a fluoride treatment, and my daughter walked out of the office saying, "That was fun!" This last visit, she was able to fill a cavity without anesthesia or numbing cream and do sealants on her back molars. Dr. Ishioka and her staff are the greatest! The office is always busy, a sign of how popular they are, but they always make time to take care of our needs with style. Dr. Susan is so patient and kind to all her patients and the front office staff are always friendly and ready to work with my family's crazy schedule. If you spend any time in the waiting room, you will hear that they do that for all their patients! They go over and above helping us with our insurance issues and always try to give us information before each visit as to what our out of pocket expenses will be. Although it is a business, they treat us like we are family. Dr. Susan is a pediatric and orthodontic dentist all rolled into one and truly loves her patients and loves what she does....it shows. Front office is HORRIBLE with customer service. They turned down my children's dental appt. after they were less than 10minutes late. It is clearly documented via cell phone my children were present at the office less than ten minutes late. The front office staff were rude and unprofessional. We have been going to them since my children were babies and have an established relationship. We have been 10 minutes late before and have waited for over 20 minutes in the waiting area at times. Their late policy is inconsistent and the manner they conveyed to us was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL & not the first time. We love Dr. Ishioka but her staff is definitely not worth going back to her. The front staff is always willing to work with our hectic schedule for our appointments and have always been there for us in "emergency" situations! Dr Susan Ishioka is the ultimate professional! My 5 year old grandson fell and traumatized his two front teeth. After his lip healed we took him to see Dr Susan. He was scared and afraid for her to touch this tender area. She was so marvelous with him it was just amazing. My son has braces and whenever he has a problem with a pokey wire or a brace falling off they go out of their way to get him in immediately.
