Dr. King has been my doctor for 8 or so years and has always remembered so much about my life. She has always gone above and beyond for anything I need and answering questions. She also is quick but you never feel rushed. I would suggest her to anyone in the area! read more

My daughter is a patient of Dr. King. I would give her a solid B. The staff has always gotten me in quickly, which I really appreciate. Long waits when I do get there, like up to an hour. She gives distracted advice and I absolutely HATE how she complains how hard it is to be a doctor, all the paperwork required and how late she has to stay every night doing the computer work and is not respectful with her staff. I don't really like when her kids come in after school each time I've been because she is very distracted. I would not recommend her if you have other options. read more

First of all, I have been going to this doctor for almost 10 years. Through the years the staff has become more and more dismissive and rude. Everytime I go in and tell them my last name they can never find me, so I have to give my maiden name. They say they can't change that because when I registered I was under my maiden name. I use to be able to call and talk to someone and they handled everything right then. Just recently, before getting their automated phone system they would automatically place me on hold for 5-10 minutes. Right before my appointment on January 27, I was on hold for 10 minutes and all I needed to do was request an appointment. After 10 minutes, I hung up and called back and they tried to do the same again, but I told them that I was just on hold and I have to go back to work, they finally listened (after reaching my frustration point). When I went to the doctor on January 27th, I walked in and stood at the window for a few minutes, then someone said they would be right with me and to have a seat. I sat for about 5 minutes before another patient came in. They did the same to her. She didn't ask either one of us for our names. About 15 minutes later they finally said I could give them my information. When I went in to get weighed and measured, that lady wasn't very friendly either. I then went to my room and the doctor came in, seemed annoyed and asked me what I needed. She then talked down to her assistant and told her to go to the person who was here first. She then stepped out in the hallway with her and I heard Dr. King getting onto her, until she realized that I was first. When I told her that I wanted to try some new medication she went though my list and was like "Well, you have been on a LOT of different ones" She did not seem like she really cared about me or what I needed. She was just annoyed and wanted to rush me. She use to be friendly and supportive. I don't know what's gone on, but things have changed. She called me in a prescription for one month. When I had a few pills left, I called the office to let them know I liked it and to call in a prescription like Dr. King asked me to do. I called Feb. 22 and I got an automated machine, I pushed the number for the front desk, it said that the mailbox wasn't set up. I called the 23rd because my meds were out that day, same thing happened, I couldn't get ahold of the front desk, it wasn't set up, but I left a message for the other line (I think it was the assistant). She never called back, so on the 25th, I called and left another message and was urgent about it because I was out of my medicine and it's dangerous to go cold turkey on a medicine that I need. My husband then got involved and left a message too. They never called back but went ahead an called a prescription in without a call or apology. Nothing. At that point I made an appointment with a new doctor that day and had a transfer of files moved over to a new doctor. It a serious problem when I can't get a hold of my doctor and need medication. There is no email address on her website or any other to contact other than phone, which didn't work right. Walgreens tried to get ahold of them too and they wouldn't respond. That is beyond ethical if you ask me. Patients are in need of medical treatment and they can't get it. I can't have a doctor that doesn't respond to me or I can't get ahold of. I also think that the tone in that office is negative, frustrated, and unfriendly. It use to not be that way. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am 50+ years old and have seen many doctors over my lifetime. I have never been charged EXTRA for asking a question during a well exam. What is a well exam? To me it is to discuss your wellness so why wouldn't I ask about things I might be concerned about? The doctor was in with me nor more than 15 minutes and during that time asked me questions about things I had already spoken to her about previously AND she was prescribing medicine for and yet every time she walks in, she asks me again... so, have you had a hysterectomy? Ummm, shouldn't you at least review your patients file before you walk in to speak with them? Am I justified in charging you because I have to answer the same question again? If you didn't want to speak about what I asked why didn't you say that? This is a sneaky practice at best! She doesn't have any concern for her patients, just about making extra money! Beware!!! This Dr and staff have no emotion, no one cares and you will wait. This dr and her lack of compassion and lack of knowledge sent my 77 YEAR OLD MOTHER TO THE ER IN TOTAL NARCOTIC WITHDRAWAL FROM METHADONE!!! After repeated attempts to contact them, I get a call back DAYS LATER "I'M SORRY OUR PHONE SYSTEM IS SCREWED UP". They DO NOT TAKE MEDICARE. You pay first, they send in the paperwork and you wait for a check. I haven't got anything back. ALL the other doctors I have been to say they have NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING!!! I never had to deal with the medical people before, I'm healthy fortunately, it is amazing how disconnected they are. Like robots programmed with "your insurance card please". Dr.King is a smart doctor no doubt, but she's very pushy and does not let the patient advocate for themselves. She lacks a warmth and is very quick to push medication (why do ALL doctors do this!?). I overheard her prescribing a patient medication for weight loss and as the patient was walking out she told her to "try and get in some cardio". Should that not be the first recommendation over meds? If you are looking for a doctor with a good balance between medical intervention AND a natural holistic approach she's not for you. Well, after nearly 5 months of phone calls and letter writing, followed by a final letter stating that I would take her to small claims court, I finally got my over payment refund. Seriously, all this over a tiny refund of only $68.50 that they freely admitted that was owed to me. And just to make things more annoying, the billing administrator still made me wait in the lobby for about 20 minutes before she wrote the check, even though they knew what time I was coming today. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, but if you do go, do NOT pay in advance of the insurance filing. read more

Every single time i had a visit with the doctor there was an issue with the billing to my insurance agency, they either billed the wrong department, multiple (1-3 on average) billing, coded it wrong so it was denied by insurance or some combination of them. Not one time after an office did i not have to spend hours on the phone wth my insurance and the doctors office. The doctor was great, as was the nure practitioner but whatever incompetent person they employ to handle billing should be fired immediately before they lose my business for good, and i tell everyone i know about what a horrible experience i have had using this doctor. read more

My visit with Susan King was perhaps the most and disturbing doctor appointment I've ever experienced in my life - the only disturbing doctor visit I've experienced. I was there for allergies, first visit, but have multiple Autoimmune diseases including Lupus. At the time I was under the care of the top Rheumatologist in Austin and taking immunosuppressants and other appropriate treatments. Before she could look at the medical records I had in my hand, she became completely unhinged, looking only at my disease and medication list, and began yelling at me, waving her hands around. I started laughing because I had never seen a grown woman, a doctor (?) behave this way - I wasn't taking narcotics! I was trying to tell her that I needed something for allergies, but she was telling me that I had to stop taking my Lupus meds!? I finally got up and walked out. My husband and I have been to countless doctors in the past 10 years since moving to Texas. Dr. King has been by far the most all around knowledgeable and kind. She took the time to listen to and review our history. She answered all of our questions and never rushed us. In addition we never waited for more than 5 minutes to be seen. Her nurse practitioners are great. They review our chart every time we go in and both they and Dr. King thoroughly explain the results of blood work as well as proactive solutions to get our numbers into the ideal range. We gladly drive over an hour to go to her office with its friendly staff and nurses. read more

If I could give Dr. King more than 5 stars, I would. Our family has been seeing Dr. King for a few years now and I can't say enough about her. She is not only one of the nicest doctors I have ever experienced, she is incredibly smart and truly cares about her patients. She takes the time that she needs to with her patients and she is never rushed and anxious to move on. She not only listens, but truly hears her patients. Dr. King never discounts anything you have to say or are experiencing as not important. I trust her completely, which I have never been able to say about another Dr. Her office staff is also absolutely delightful. I saw Dr King throughout my adolescence, as did my family, at their original location in north Austin. She was always an asset to our family, helping us through this issue or that condition. I moved to Dallas for several years and when I returned I was sad to find her new practice too far north to be practical for me. However, though I was in New Braunfels, she was the person I went to once I found out I was pregnant. Despite the time away, Dr. King remembered my details, was warm and helpful, and helped me in taking the first step forward proper prenatal care. I recently started using Dr. King and first visit was for a skin problem where wind made my face burn badly. She immediately knew my skin condition was the early stages of Rosacea and prescribed me a topical antibiotic that is heaven sent. She now does Skin Pen treatments and I had my first of three treatments today and she did a great job. Sometimes I've had to wait a little past my appointment time, but I think it's because she acts like a real Doctor and takes some extra time to listen to each patient, like a small town type Doctor I grew up with. Unless you enjoy being lied to, ignored, and treated like an idiot, do not visit Susn King's doctor office. She may be a great medical doctor, but she needs hire employees who are more competent than the ones she has. After waiting 30 minutes in the waiting room, I finally went over my insurance information with the girl working behind the counter; explained to her that I only wanted a well-woman exam (as basic as they come so that I could re-fill a prescription) and that I wanted to pay up-front for any services that I would be receiving that day instead of being billed through my insurance company since I had student insurance through my university. The girl spent 10 minutes on the phone with my insurance company and then explained to me that I would pay $120 for the well-woman exam, but that they recommend I have blood work done also since my insurance covers it 100%. She even went as far as to write down on my paperwork that my insurance provider covers blood work 100% as well as my well-woman exam. I explained that I would still prefer to pay for the office visit myself instead of going through the insurance company, so when my visit was over, I paid the $120 and decided to go ahead and have my blood work done. A month later I was hit with a bill for over $700 for the blood work. When I tried to explain the situation to the doctor's office, no one was willing to hear me out. I kept being passed off to the nurse who had seen me during my visit and all she would say to me was that she would talk to Dr. King herself and see if she could do anything about the bill. All the while, everyone who I talked to in the office was rude and defensive of their fellow employee, telling me that I must have misunderstood her and it was my responsibility to take care of the matter and pay for my services. After months of dealing with the office staff and threatening to take them to court, my bill was passed along to a collections agency and had been reduced down to $450. By this time, 8 months had passed and I was still getting the run around from the doctor's office, so I paid the bill for the blood work to avoid it affecting my credit. I thought that after swallowing the $450 bill, I was finally done with this horrendous experience. Then, came a bill from Susan King's office in June 2013. Yep, over a year and a half after the doctor's visit, I am being told that I owe close to $100. When I called and spoke with the office today, I was treated as if I was too simple of a person to understand how insurance policies work and even though she admitted that I may have been LIED to by one of their employees, I had signed a contract at the visit stating that I would be responsible for any charges that my insurance provider did not cover. So even though I had been told that I was paying for the entire visit up front, they actually went ahead and billed my insurance company, who then did not pay the whole charge that the doctor's office tried to bill them, and I was stuck with the remainder. Moral of the story: Do NOT choose Susan King as your physician; no matter how competent she may be in the medical field, it does not make up for the sheer lack of humanity in her office. And if you for some bizarre reason choose to use her, don't give them your insurance information. Simply say that you do not have insurance and will be paying out of pocket. That way they can't go behind your back and bill your insurance company anyway. read more

I had another appointment this week with Dr. King. This was after a checkup nearly 6 weeks ago. I had this follow up visit because I was very impressed with not only that visit, but the follow up phone calls I received from Michelle, their friendly practice manager as well as the doctor herself to see how I was doing. I was dealing with some personal issues & I have to say that I am doing much better now thanks to Dr. King's professionalism and overall medical knowledge. The most unprofessional staff I've ever met. They don't pick up the phone during office hours, don't return calls and don't even respond to the pharmacy for medication refills. Dr. King herself is also part of the problem-always running terribly late then rushes you thru the appointment. I am new to Cedar Park and Dr. King was highly recommended by a specialist. I simply wanted to establish a new primary care physician, have a routine physical, and basic blood work ordered. The front office staff is completely incompetent. I waited over an hour before I was taken to an exam room. I was then told it would be a few minutes. Then I was told two patients were in front of me. This is the problem with healthcare these days. There is no respect for the patient's time. If I had been informed there would be a long wait that would at the very least been considerate. I finally walked out and demanded a refund. I am very disappointed. I will seek primary care elsewhere. I have been in healthcare for the past ten years and there is no excuse for this kind of patient care. First impressions are lasting impressions. read more

I have been seeing Dr. King for years. Sure, at times I have had to wait while she has attended to a patient with more pressing issues. I don't mind this, as I have been that patient with more pressing issues and appreciated the care and attention she has and continues to give me. She has stayed late on a Friday to see me during an emergency. I LOVE this Doctor. She really cares about her patients and is very devoted to thier care. I've been going to this family practice for about two years now. I've seen the nurse practionner more often than the MD. Appointment were frequently rescheduled due to a conflict in the schedule. Under their recommendation, I underwent a series of testing for my general health. I waited weeks longer than usual for results, which were not discussed by phone as expected. Instead, I was required to schedule an office visit for which I was billed. Receiving regular prescription refills was also quite a challenge, also requiring an office visit. Recently, I had to cancel an appointment on the same day due to a family illness. I received a follow up call from the office manager, detailing their cancellation policy. Needless to say, I was billed for the missed appointment, although I have never previously cancelled without at least 24 hour notice. During the subsequent conversation, the office manager was quite rude, also not a first. If you are looking for a family practice that is friendly, with staff that are interested in building interpersonal relationships with their clients, then this is not the practice for you. read more

However, I cannot get over how unpleasant her office staff is..ESPECIALLY Michelle. I have been going to Dr. king for almost 3 years and Michelle has been there since I became a patient... I remember being baffled at her lack of politeness and customer service at my first appointment and I am still surprised and in shock now that she is still employed there. She never smiles, she is not friendly AT ALL, she is rude, condescending the unpleasant on the phone and in person, and acts like patients are a burden to her when they call or come in the office. While I really like the nurse practitioner Julie, I have found myself frustrated and annoyed when it comes to billing at the office but I hate finding a new doctor. I recently began taking ADD medicine which requires a written script every month. Dr.King created a ridiculous policy of charging a $15 fee for me to obtain this script when I do not have an appointment. My insurance office visit copay is only even $10! How in the world do I end up having to pay $15??? I can understand a fee for people who have a script that allows refills and they forget to ask during their appointment, but this is not an option for me.. so not only do I have to pay $55/mth for my actual prescription but on top of that, Dr.King is charging me $15/mth for her to sign a stupid piece of paper. I know several people on ADD medicine and not a single person I know has to pay to pick up a script when they do not have an appointment. Policies like this only serve to not only make me absolutely not want to go there, but also make sure that I let others know that she is more concerned about making money than actually helping her patients. read more

Let me start off by saying Susan King, as an individual, is an AMAZING doctor. She has listened to all of my concerns, always been quick to address symptoms and is very thorough in her work. However, the office staff she has working for her is completely unacceptable. They are unorganized, unmotivated, and utterly disrespectful. My child has several prescriptions that she NEEDS for her well-being and trying to get them refilled has been the biggest hassle we have ever been through with any doctor, to say the least. For example, the last time her prescription was running low I requested a refill through the office, (December 17th), which despite me calling, showing up and inquiring, and emailing, the office staff did not get her medicine refilled until the third of January! THAT IS ALMOST A MONTH WITHOUT HER MEDICINE! I could go on about several other recent incidents we've had but quite honestly, I'm sure if you choose this office you will see exactly what we've experienced. I really do love Susan as a doctor but unfortunately her business is being hurt by members of her staff. In summary: Great Doc, terrible staff. read more

I was a patient of Dr. King's for almost 2 years. I did not care for visits with her because she was callous and seemed to distrust me when it came to discussing my symptoms. I am not one to just run to the doctor for the sniffles, so when I do go, I have tried all the home remedies possible. The staff was equally unpleasant, but I could usually get an appointment no later than the next morning when sick. I continued using her office because Julie Elam joined the practice and was such a breath of fresh air in the health care industry. Julie is no longer with the practice, however I still need a family doctor and decided to continue seeing Dr. King. Changing doctors is a nightmare! I called in, because I had been sick for almost a week and got much worse over the weekend. I was told it would be 4 days before I could get an appointment! Her staff, as usually, could have cared less that I was sick, and did not even offer to try to work me in. I am certainly through trying to be nice and giving her office another chance. I doubt she will read this, or care for that matter, but I hope that I help others avoid such negative experiences as me and my family have dealt with over the last 2 years. read more
