Wow - what a difference an hour can make! After a less than stellar visit to our local Ford dealer in Reno, I'd decided I would stick to my plan and wait another year to buy a newer car. But of course, after sleeping on it, we were back online seeing what other cars might be out there that fit what I was looking for. We found the same car I was looking at in Reno at the Susanville Ford for $4,000 less with only 10,000 miles on it (half of the other car in Reno). I called them and spoke with Kelly, one of their sales consultants. After I briefly told him what happened at the other dealership, he asked for all of the details on my Mustang so that he could run blue book on it. He said they go only by blue book and that he would give me what popped up. My local dealer would only give me $7,000 for my '08 Mustang but Kelly said he could give me between $11K-$12K since it was booking that high so we hopped in the car and drove to Susanville. We test drove the car that I was looking at and then he ran the numbers. Not only was he able to give me a great value on my trade in, but I was able to get an extended warranty on a lower mileage car for less than the sticker price of the car in Reno. They were also able to finance me at a lower interest rate to save money in the long term. So for $100 more per month than my Mustang, I now have a practically new Fusion Titanium with AWD and more bells and whistles than I know what to do with. To top it off, we were in and out of the dealership in an hour and half with keys in hand! I would highly, highly recommend that anyone in the vehicle market, check out Susanville Ford. I've seen the bad reviews and wonder if somehow they have changed course since my experience was good. Yes, it took a LONG time to get the truck repaired but Corwin in Reno and Capital in Carson City wouldn't even give me an appointment for a transmission issue !! Somehow, Ford has dropped the ball on those two dealers. But Susanville Ford was friendly and helpful. A real person answered the phone, transferred my right away and I was never put on hold for more than a minute. That's rare these days. And when they made an understandable mistake, they made it right in a big way. I can't say enough about JP (service manager), Tristan (service rep) and Josh (mobile mechanic). Don't buy anything from these shameless liars. We purchased a vehicle and an extended warranty. The one time we brought the vehicle in for service under the extended warranty because of a catalytic converter trouble code they say that the catalytic converter is not covered because it is part of the power train. Since when is the catalytic converter part of the power train? This was for a vehicle we paid in excess of 80k for. Ford's own website excludes the catalytic converter as part of their power train warranty. Dishonest people, do not spend your money here. read more

Ha, ha, I should have looked at their rating prior to taking my vehicle to this dealership. They flubbed up something as easy as an oil change and failed to make things right. I bought a service plan (oil) that gives me 4 oil changes to be used within a 24month period. I told this dealer that and after they changed my oil they told me I didn't have any left/they had expired and I had to pay the $112.57 for the oil change. I went ahead and paid, but my hometown dealer notified me that I had a few more oil changes left on the service plan, but they do expire in 2025. I called the dealer back and told them they had made a mistake and to go ahead and use one of my paid oil coupons and refund my $112.57 (they subsequently now can see that I have a service plan with those oil coupons/changes). The dealer refuses to refund my money as they surmise that I'd be getting a free oil change. USE MY COUPON LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE OR YEAH - SUCK UP THE COST OF AN OIL CHANGE AND REFUND MY MONEY. You guys made the mistake not me. So glad that this isn't my hometown dealership, but sadden they have such poor customer service. I looked at the Ford Lightening while I was there and have considered buying one in the past, but I certainly won't now. I told this to the guy and he said, "but you didn't buy it". lol Yeah, and I'm glad I didn't. Poor service by dealers like this is why Chrysler is losing business. The sales guys were pretty cool when I was there and Chrysler/Dodge has been my go-to vehicle for the last 30 years, but I switched to Teslas 8 years ago - I'm slated to get the Cybertruck within a month or two, so pretty glad I turned down purchasing that Ford Lightening. I can recommend Lithia Chrysler in Reno though, but if you're stuck in Susanville, I guess you've these folks to deal with for service. F- read more

Buying a new truck wasn't on my list of things to do this week. It wasn't on even on my list of things to do this YEAR! Nonetheless found myself here truck shopping with hubby. I don't like to vehicle shop. Don't like car salesman who try to sell you something you don't want, etc. Looked at Dodge and Ford. They have a pretty good selection of diesel trucks. They sell for volume rather than price so I'd you are looking for a good deal without too much haggling this is a good place to check out. The best advice I can give to someone car shopping is to do your homework before you go. Know what you should be paying for a vehicle and know what your credit score is ahead of time if you plan to finance. You can use creditkarma.com to check your credit score. I did it and it really is free. As far as knowing what you should pay, there are a lot of great websites such as kbb.com and Edmunds to find out what you should be paying. I did all these things I just mentioned before going to Susanville Ford and had a pretty painless experience. The only pain I experienced was the huge dent in my pocketbook. They are pretty good people to work with. I had checked financing options before going but opted to go with their financing option because it was a better deal. They sold 8 new vehicles today so it took a while to get through the process. They were very straight forward and took a low pressure stance. They didn't bug us about running our credit or anything until after we agreed on a price. Bought a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie. I hope it's a very long time before I have to go car shopping again but if I had the need I would certainly visit these folks again. read more

Avoid at all cost! They are also a Ram dealer. Went in for warranty work truck would not start. I jumped it twice before taking it in. I had been getting a few other warnings on the screen also. They called me and said the problem was lose battery connections. They started the conversation with " We have photos" so I knew something was comming (BOHICA) I would of seen lose cables when jumping it. They also said no other problems located and that the work done would not be covered by warranty! This truck has 13K miles on it. I called Ram customer service who I will say was very responsive. This is a small community and I promise I will tell everyone I know about this experience. Shame on you Susanville Auto Center glad I didn't buy anything from you guys. QUICK SUMMARY: After Susanville ford requested we do an extended diagnosis to pinpoint an engine rattle, I approved over $2700 in charges and repairs to replace a timing chain only to be told a week later that it was actually a DIFFERENT chain which had been rattling and we would need to start the process over. If you love your car or wallet, go elsewhere. --------------------------------------------------- May 8 - I went to Susanville ford and spoke with Loree about having a rattle from somewhere in the engine diagnosed on my 02 Ford Explorer, I explained that I had removed the front timing cover in an effort to diagnose the vehicle myself, but was unsucessful , Loree said I could have the car towed in and a diagnosis would be $110 dollars, I asked if it would still be $110 since I had removed the timing cover and she reiterated ALL diagnostics were always $110. May 9 - I arranged to have the explorer towed to Susanville ford to be diagnosed and possibly repaired. May 10 - I receive a call from the shop, I'm told by 'Trey' that that cannot diagnose the vehicle at the agreed upon price since I have already removed the timing cover, but that if I authorize (1) additional hour of diagnosis time, they can 'pinpoint' what is causing the rattle, so I agree. Later on I receive another call informing me it is a timing chain in my engine. I'm quoted around 2000 parts and labor to repair it. Although it's more than the value of the car, I mention I'd feel alot better if they discounted 1 hour of labor since Loree repeatedly gave me an incorrect price quote to which they agree, the new quote comes out to $1870, but they request I pre approve $1900 'just in case they need a gasket or something', They tell me it is a one day repair although it may take 2 days if they have to order something. May 16- I go over in the morning before work to see what is going on, I am told that although they've already done a 2 hour 'extended' diagnosis they just found plastic in the bedpan of the car and I will now need to approve another 7-800 dollars labor to get everything fixed. I ask to speak with the service manager, Jim, and explain the situation. Jim shows me where they found plastic (it was in a part of the bedpan which was already exposed due to the timing cover being removed). I ask the technician how confident he is that this will fix my issue if I approve it and he informs me he is extremely confident. I then follow Jim to his office. I inform Jim that I'm disappointed that, despite doing an extended diagnosis so they could "pinpoint" the issue, this plastic was not found until now. I ask if he would be willing to discount (1) hour to which he explains that "it is against our policy to take in cars that have any parts already removed so you should really be glad we are even doing this for you..." and "we have already spent more time on this car than we should have so just be glad we aren't charging you more" I remind him that I had no idea what Susanville Ford's policy was regarding vehicle intake and if they shouldn't have taken it in then that was not my mistake. I insist I'd like a small discount and he finally agrees. Jim tells me my new bill stands at 2600 with the discount. May 19 - I receive a call From Trey that the vehicle is back together but now they have decided that it is in fact a DIFFERENT chain that was actually rattling and the problem is not fixed and I now owe $2744 and I need to approve another diagnostic and "start the process over" or "come pick up the car"...... May 20 - I went in to speak with Jim, I tried to explain that I felt a refund or some kind of concession was in order. He was thoroughly involved in this process and he knew that I had ONLY authorized the parts and repairs based on their extended and in depth diagnosis, and it wouldn't be right to charge me for repairs which had been done due to error on the part of the diagnostician. Jim informed me that I "should be greatful I can even pick up the car today" since they are normally closed saturdays. I reluctantly paid because I had no other option at the time to get my car back and my wife had been without transportation since the 15th. The Bureau of Automotive repair is currently in the process of investigating and I would urge anyone to take their car anywhere else. Absolutely the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Pricing is not great, went to Reno and saved over $1,800 for a better equipped Ranger. Service and parts Dept is where not the "brightest bulb" wait to die. Service Dept gave inaccurate information on my trucks twice (if you don't know, just say I DON'T KNOW). My wife went in to pick up a back ordered part, the counter guy took her name and then went on his break before getting her part. When I had my F250 worked for an AC issue last year they kept fixing it, and fixing it, AND kept charging a new service charge to "fix it", we did this because we used the truck with our RV and wanted national warranty protection if we were across the country and had the work fail. Now when we need Ford warranty service we take it to the dealership in LA when We're there on business. We wanted to buy a Grand Cherokee a while back, they ordered a V8 instead of the 6 we wanted and tried to convince us that it was worth the extra power and $$$. Again went to Reno and got what we wanted for less along with a few extras. If I ever buy a vehicle at Susanville Ford they should give me a T-Shirt that says "LICK ME ALL OVER I'M A SUCKER", because then I'd be the idiot. If you want to buy local good luck! For service our entire family started going to AUTO WORLD on Spring Street a few years back, never a disappointment and costs about 20% less. read more

Dont get your vehicle serviced here unless you want to hand over your paycheck. Every time you go for the same service like fuel filter and oil changes the price is different. I provide all filters and oil and still pay through the nose and each time it is a different cost....It has taken them from 45 min to 2 hours for the same thing...but charged a bundle. The service price per hour only went up $10 but I am charged $60 or more for just the fuel filter charge. It should not fluctuate for an easy service that only takes 45 min. If you call and check on your vehicle when they say they will be done in 2 hours you are put on hold and the hung up on repeatedly. So unsatisfied with Susanville Ford...time to make the drive to Reno. read more

2 years ago we purchased a Ford Fusion Titanium from Susanville Ford and we didn't have any issues. We are expecting another child so we came in to trade in our car for a bigger vehicle. The sales department was amazing. They were very friendly and helpful. They worked with us and our negative balance on our last car which was awesome. We drove home in our new/used vehicle. Two weeks later it started acting up while driving on a highway. It started downshifting on it's own over and over. We were close enough to my work that my husband was able to drive 25 to get there. We parked it and got a ride home from a family member. My husband called the sales department but since it was Sunday there was nothing they could do to help us. Monday morning I got a ride to my work so I could call and make arrangements. After many hours on the phone with the warranty company, the dealership, the service department and the general manager, it turns out that the dealership never turned in our warranty check or paperwork. Now it was in the hands of the dealership. By 6pm that night someone came with a trailer from the dealership to pick up our vehicle and bring us a rental. The next morning they called and said it was some sort of new recall (in the last 2 weeks that we owned it, I guess) and they had fixed it. The man from the night before drove our car to my work and picked up the rental. After work I went out with all three of my kids and turned the car on. Immediately the lights in the dash started going crazy. I decided to drive it because I needed to get us home. I started down the highway and it started downshifting again and the dash was throwing codes, going crazy and on top of that the speedometer wasn't working. I was able to find a spot to pull over and waited for my husband to come and drive it home (he didn't want his pregnant wife and 3 kids driving down the highway like this). We had somewhere to go that evening so my husband called the general manager and he sent the same guy to come get our car AGAIN and leave a rental for us. We left the keys in our car at our house and went to our event in my husbands vehicle. A few days went by and we heard nothing about our vehicle. I called the service department 3 days later and they said they thought someone contacted us to tell us what was going on with our car but that they were waiting on a part. So, I proceeded to have to ask what was wrong with the car in the first place (especially since it was supposedly a recall that they fixed). This was a Friday and they said they would have it ready by Monday. We didn't hear anything until late on Monday and couldn't get out there until Tuesday. We live 49 miles away. On Tuesday we go pick up our vehicle and didn't even think about our keys until the next day when I asked where our keys were so I could go get our mail at the PO Box. It turned out the keys they gave us back weren't our keys that we left in our car days before. We called and they said the guy that worked on our car is out for a few days so they will let us know when he gets back what happened. A few days later we get a voicemail that they have no idea where our keys are. They said our alarm was going off on our car so they had to reprogram a new key (so where is our original key with the alarm button to turn it off ?). So now we don't have our keys to our house and our mail box. We have to pay to get those replaced. On top of it we don't know who could possibly have the keys to our house. Another little thing that's added in to it is that my sunglasses are always left in the sunglasses holder in the car and they are missing. I will avoid going to this service center again as long as I can help it and we will take our purchases to another dealership. read more

Not only did they not service the Jeep properly after the previous owner before we bought it but they also lied repeatedly and when my husband called them out on it we then got ignored so they didnt have to deal with us. They have cost me over 3k in repairs on top of buying a 30k lawn ornament. I have 3 kids two of which have medical issues so this is not something we really needed to have to deal with. I just had a really bad experience at Susanville Auto Center. I was so excited to have won a gift certificate for an Lube, Oil and Filter (LOF), with a value of $50. My husband usually takes care of doing the oil changes on our cars but since I won this I thought why not? Upon scheduling the appointment, the lady on the phone said yes the $50 value would more than cover the LOF. Upon checking my car in, the man gave me a quote of $110 on paper and asked me to sign. I said $110? He said oh that is just something I have to write down, this $50 voucher will more than cover it. Upon picking up my car, there were at least 10 employees in this little service center and yet it took me more than 30 minutes to stand in line for the cashier. She is not only the cashier, she also leaves to go get cars, while the other 9 employees stand around and visit with each other. When it was finally my turn, you guessed it the $50 was in fact not enough. It was explained to me that I signed the $110 estimate and therefore I owe $11. Not bad for an LOF, but twice I was told the $50 would cover it. I cannot say how the sales portion of this business is, but stay away from the service center. read more

I took my 2012 Ford Focus in for transmission issues. I dropped the car off on a Thursday its Monday and they keep giving me the run around one thing after another. Either it's we're really busy (understandably) to ok I'll call you after lunch to me calling at 5 pm and being told that they can't get to it because the service guy went home sick. I'm just saying you don't tell me at 9am that it would be fixed by lunch they I call at 2pm to be told a little more time. Now I'm wanting another day just to be told if it's covered under warranty or not. So frustrating and all they are doing is nothing to help me or make sure I stay happy. Took my truck in to get some chip-keys made. Got me in quick, and while they had it...Fixed a Manufacture Recall and also washed & vacuumed it. So pleased and thankful for them taking care of the recall without having to ask. & the wash was a great bonus. read more

purchasing the truck was a positive experience the salesmen were very friendly and helpful BUT...only 14,000 miles later and 8 months and now the truck overheats, quits, goes into limp mode. we made an appointment for a service tech to fix it. got there after a 2 hour drive WITH an appointment and waited for an hour had to keep asking the service manager why they havent done anything with the truck. after 2 hours she tells us we need a new battery. we went to purchase a battery from napa at $100 less than the dealership cost. when we brought it back they told us this would fix the issues but we needed to leave the truck because they had other customers to take care of. we had an appointment but were made to feel like we were NOT important enough and of course anyone ELSE that walked in was put in front of us in line. they wanted to keep the truck so we left and expected to came back the next day to pick it up. 5 days later and many phone calls and we finally got our truck back. they said the battery had fixed the overheating problem. they drove it 185 miles and said all of the issues we had mentioned were fixed. the next day of course it overheated and has continued to have issues with overheating, quitting, running rough and throwing codes. BUT I will NOT ever go back to this dealership for service. their customer service is terrible, these issues exceeded their ability to actually fix the truck. The service manager who is in charge of scheduling and customer contact does not seem to like her customers. since its an open area between the waiting area and the desks you can hear all the conversations. she would take a call and then proceed to talk bad about the customer when she got off the phone. very annoyed that people would keep calling for updates on their cars. overall this was a terrible experience. The salesmen were great but take your vehicle somewhere else for service. dont waste your time or money here. read more
