This store will try to upsell you and refuse to help you if you don't agree to buy. They don't back…read moreup their own products and the staff is rude. I went in for a flat repair on a Friday. They fixed it and it was flat again before I made it home. I came back the next week to have them fix it again. They refused. Saying my tread depth was too low. These were Les Schwab tires with only 26,000 miles on them. I checked Les Schwab policy and 2/32 of tread is all that is required in the summertime for them to make a repair. I had well more than that on my tread. They just wanted to sell me new tires. I have been told to be aware of this particular store in the past, but I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt.

I stopped in Friday September 19th, 2025 and ordered a spare wheel for my trailer. I thanked her and told her I would be back the following Friday and drop the tire off to get mounted. So I go in Friday September 26th, 2025 and sure enough the wheel is in, and now the same lady is telling me because it's a new tire not purchased from Les Schwab and not a used tire there will be charge for mounting and balance. (Please tell me how this makes sense? If I would have had an old used tire the mounting and balance are free, but because it was a new tire there is a charge.) I left the tire there and came back several hours later. The same lady waited on me when I picked the tire up. She must of been upset with me because she never acknowledged me or anything. Just printed out the bill and told me the $ amount. I asked if I was charged for balancing because there was no wheel weights on the wheel and tire. She asked a service person about the balancing, the service person went outside and balanced the tire. Again I asked about the change for mounting and balancing, she told me she would get me someone in charge. I waited for 2 minutes the manager had not came in yet so I just took my wheel and left. I was already disappointed with the service by this time. I go to Les Schwab for service and man the service has gone downhill in Susanville, time to find a new tire shop I guess.

We were very fortunate that Brandon, one of their drivers, happened to be towing another vehicle nearby. I walked over, and right off the bat, he was warm, approachable, and truly listened to our situation. He asked smart, thoughtful questions to see if he could safely tow both cars at once and he made it happen seamlessly and quickly. When we got back to the shop in Chester, we met Thor, who was incredible. He was extremely empathetic, clear, and upfront about pricing. Knowing our insurance wasn't going to cover it, he generously knocked some money off the bill to help us out. When I mentioned we were entertaining buying a new car, Thor brought up the option of being towed to Redding where there are more dealerships. It was fantastic advice, and Brandon drove us and the vehicle the entire way to Redding. Brandon's hospitality during the drive was second to none. He offered us water, let our girls eat in his truck, was happy to roll down the windows when one of my daughters was motion sick, pointed out interesting things in the landscape, and even accommodated a bathroom break for the kids. When we finally dropped the car off in Redding, he even let my 7-year-old daughter operate the tow truck hydraulics (safely, with his close supervision, of course), which completely lit up her face after a very long and stressful day. Spending that time in the truck made it clear that Brandon is a hardworking, genuine person who loves what he does and truly cares about helping people. I spoke to a really kind and tall guy there. He was super nice. My insurance company had me go back and take photos, making me relive the trauma. The next time they made me go back and retrieve the license plates. This time, the same tall guy told me I didn't have to do that, and couldn't have done it because the car had been removed by the insurance company.
