Sushi & Go is a no-frills, low-key, aptly named restaurant between downtown Denville and Route 10. Their lunch menu's most expensive item - meaning there's options that're even more affordable - is a $15 bento box that includes a special roll, a choice of regular rolls or sashimi, 3 shumai, miso soup, AND salad. If you're sick of spending money to eat out, it's objectively a lot of food. So I ordered the bento box. My Godzilla roll was the star of the plate: it was soft, moist, and a melody of textures in my mouth, and only lightly fried so as only to gain crispiness without imparting oil flavor. The shumai followed close behind, for there the oil was more obvious. My rolls and remaining sushi were fresh enough, particularly the avocado, although for me the rice grains are a smidge dry. The apps came out first and came out promptly. I enjoyed the tangy Japanese salad dressing and crisp, fresh lettuce. The miso soup was just OK, and I think it should be served hotter. Is it the best sushi in Denville? No; look to Ai Sakae for that. But the managing team comes off earnest and pleasant, and you can be in and out quickly. On a Saturday at 1p, myself and a father tending to two young girls were the only customers.

Ordered a party tray and the sushi was amazing! I ended up ordering again a few days later for the lunch special and it comes with soup and salad. The lunch special was so filling and satisfying. I can't wait to go back again for their lunch specials and to try their other dishes.

I love the house special ramen. The vegetables are fresh, the grilled chicken delicious. The prices are reasonable. Take out is quick.

And when I sat down inside this ultra-casual restaurant - I'm pretty sure that it's a converted residential house - I only saw my fellow diners ordering sushi. So don't come here for ramen; come for an incredibly tasty, inexpensive sushi experience. I had an amazing roll, and let me tell you, the presentation is stunning. It came out sizzling on cast iron, while my server spooned garlic sauce over the top to cook it and add dazzle. Filled with avocado and spicy tuna, the portion would be perfect for sharing with someone. I also had a dynamite roll, which more or less melted in my mouth. I was less wild about the Christian crosses at every table. I'm a secular person. All in all though, Asahi qualifies as a hidden, off-the-beaten-path gem of Parsippany.

When we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed the door was held open with an elastic cord.. which seemed very odd to both my dining companion and I considering the chill in the mid-autumn evening air.. until we walked up the stairs and both noticed the thick smoky haze hanging in the air inside the restaurant. We looked at each other, nodded, and made a quick 180-degree turn, then drove to another local establishment for our ramen fix.

The pork slices were big although I wouldn't say they are as good as those found in very traditional and higher end ramen places in NYC. But at this price point in the suburbs, the place is absolutely a 5-star. Look it's not Ippudo or Ichiran... it's part of a small group with various locations... but it's also not your typical suburbia mall Japanese spot either. The drinks are very well priced too. Service was very friendly, it's convenient with lots of parking, and they seem to be quite busy midweek for early dinner. I've yet to find a go-to ramen place in NJ... Ani Ramen is popular around here though I think this is better. It's good enough for this ramen snob to not make me want to drive into Manhattan to seek out ramen even if it's not exactly quite like the very best in the city.

I am not sure if she is new or not, but she was not attentive and also very slow. All I wanted was to get my check and pay and leave before the storm hit. She was talking to the new tables for a long long time. We ended up taking the check and paid up front. Basically we waited 10 minutes just to get the check. The restaurant should train their staff to keep the check with them, or have the remote credit card machine. When the customer asked for the check, the staff should be ready to provide in a timely manner. I will still come back, but will be more smart to ask for the check way ahead of time.

My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Friday evening during a weekend trip to High Point State Park. They only had nine beers on tap but there was nice variety and excellent quality in the lineup. Several IPA's and hazy ales but also a grisette, a German pilsner, an English mild and a milk stout. They don't offer flights. Interestingly enough, as much as I enjoy flights at breweries, I've actually found that not offering them is usually a good sign as it is the mark of a brewery that is serious about beer and knows what they are doing. This was true for Autodidact as each beer was excellent. Five star beer but four star taproom. 6 o'clock on a Friday night but only about seven other people there so it was kind of dead. I didn't enjoy the dim, colored lighting or the cold concrete slab bar. We were sitting at the bar and I hated that the only menu available was behind us so we constantly had to turn around to look at what we wanted next. No beers available in the to go fridge but they were able to make us a few crowlers. We live too far away to come back any time soon, but I'm looking forward to tucking into the beers at home sometime soon.

Ordered a strawberry lemonade, fried gyoza (with chicken; not pictured since I was starving and ate it too fast), dumplings (also with chicken) with crispy onions and bean sprouts, I got the miso ramen (with chicken...appears to be a theme), and my GF got the Katsu Curry (yep, theme confirmed. Came with chicken). Fried gyoza was an easy 5/5. Perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce was divine. Will definitely order again. Dumplings had a nicely-sized piece of shrimp along with ground pork inside. Dumpling skin wasn't too thin and wasn't too thick. The sauce they came in was also quite tasty. 4.5/5. My miso ramen was delish. Broth was savory, ramen noodles had a nice chew...would also reorder. 4.5/5. My GF 's Katsu Curry...she said it was decent enough but it was kind of bland because there wasn't enough curry sauce. She gave it a 3/5. All in all, we both said we'd be back. I went with a group of 3 and all ordered ramen and the karaage appetizer, but the karaage was just slightly crispy and barely had any flavor, the sauce really saved that dish but definitely would pass on that dish. All 3 ramens were average. The pork cha shu was tender though which was the highlight, but overall broth was pretty standard. Particularly my miso ramen didn't have that much flavor. Service and staff was a bit slow, but food came out pretty fast. Overall not bad, but will probably give this place another go sometime and try some of the other dishes.
