Yellowtail Jalapeno

I had such a wonderful dinner at Ju-Ichi! We were seated right away without a reservation on a weeknight. The inside was bright and clean. Our server was so lovely and attentive! We both had delicious bottled beverages, my friend chose the sparkling yuzu soda and I had the sparkling lychee oolong tea! So refreshing! We ordered a few plates to share and each one was better than the last. The pork bao buns were perfectly fluffy and had a delicious sauce. The tuna tacos were such a fun idea, and I loved the avocado inside! The yellowtail jalapeno had just the right spice, and the fish melted in your mouth. Lastly, we had the shichimi salmon roll. It was massive and packed with flavor! Overall, I can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!

Very packed and warm, but service turnaround was fast. Loud with plenty of tables and spacious. We got a variety of food from rolls to ramen/udon, takoyaki, all delicious! I was very surprised with the wasabi raw octopus, so good!! The udon with pork and kimchi, best choice. You can tell that they make their own udon, very chewy with good texture! Can't wait to visit again! Only downside was parking and the wait.

Drive into Morristown and step foot into...Japan!? Ju-Ichi has become our go-to ramen stop from the quality of food to the service. What's even more impressive is the atmosphere. From the wood finishes to the elongated tables, you're given an almost true experience for Japanese dining. I've only had the ramen but recently tried the sushi with their (amazing priced!) lunch special and wow.

If you're looking to transform yourself to Japan through food, this is the place to try. From their minimalistic wooden interior to one-of-a-kind broth made from scratch for their ramen,I only have praises for this restaurant. Good selection of menu items-sushi,entrees,but the absolute highlight are their ramen/udon varieties. Even their Miso tastes different than anywhere else I've tried. Service could be quicker at times (I've only come here few times during lunch on weekdays and we'd be one of a few customers),but when there's fewer clients, the kitchen is still busy with takeout orders,so you know - and so do others - that their food is special!

I'll start off by saying this place would get 3 stars in Bergen County or NYC but gets a solid 4 stars for here. They have a variety in menu including appetizers, rice bowls, ramen, upon, and sushi. The fact that their menu doesn't specialize means everything is serviceable but not necessarily great. Appetizers were pretty good albeit a little too sweet which makes sense given their customer base. Ramen was pretty good also. Anyway, maybe I am too harsh. The decor was modern, clean, and had plenty of space. I didn't like that their chairs didn't have backs. Service was very attentive and efficient. If you have hankering for Japanese food, I'd recommend this place especially for this part of NJ. If you really want too end though go to NYC or Fort Lee.

Our daughter suggested dinner here! Called to make reservation, reservations only accepted for party of 8 or more. We arrived and requested table for 3. We were seated once my daughter arrive! Constant flow of dining in customers and take out orders! Food was very tasty! Street parking. Bathroom clean!

Overall: probably the best restaurant in the area in terms of consistent and quality. I live in NYC and the ramen is almost on the same quality. Service is amazing though! Food: have had lots of the appetizers and they have been something i always kind of never remember. It is not their stand out dishes. As for the ramen, the broth was clear but its missing just some kind of umph i usually get. The noodles are solid, came with a large party so maybe they just sat a little too long and the noodles were a little too overdone. Service: they are always top tier, helpful, and i feel so bad whenever I hear people rude to them because they are doing their best!!

Holy crap this ramen broth BLEW ME AWAY!! Genuinely, this might be one of the richest but not overly heavy, salty or fatty broths I've ever had. It had insane depth of flavor, hitting every note--salty, little sweet, savory--just overall everything I want in my ramen broth. This hearty and generous portion filled me up perfectly and I'm going to be craving this all the time. We also tried their beef tataki appetizer, it was perfectly tender and had a nice flavor. However, adding their homemade (I think) chili oil on top brought it to the next level. The chili oil had the best taste, it literally almost tasted like a plate of fried gyoza with how savory and flavorful it was and with the perfect amount of heat, I wish I could take it home!! Thinking about the next time I can come back out for a bowl of ramen from ju-ichi! Side note, their seating area is very cute, but all backless chairs if that's a concern to you.

The place is so spacious and the ambiance is great. We went on a Saturday late afternoon and there was no wait, it did take them some time to take our order but the menu is extensive so it was needed. We got their chicken bao buns as an appetizer and loved them! The chicken was so juicy and the bun was just perfect. My boyfriend got the Spicy Tuna Don and it was delicious, the crab salad was one of the best ones we've had in New Jersey and the combination in the bowl itself felt so refreshing, it comes with a side so he got the miso soup which was rich and pretty good as well. I got their Kuro Miso Ramen and I really liked it! My only complaint is that there seemed to be more bean sprouts than noodles but that's up to preference for sure. This is definitely in my 3 top spots for ramen in New Jersey and my number one in Morris county!

Shichimi Salmon Roll

For a relatively quick dinner, a friend and I stopped by Ju Ichi on a Saturday evening. There was a 15 minute wait but there are seats by the entrance for you while your table becomes ready. Once we were called up, we were seated and each of the seats (cubes) actually had a compartment for you to put your belongings in which is nice. We ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer and shared the shichimi salmon roll and beef udon. We found that the octopus in the takoyaki was a bit tough/dense/chewy which led us to assume that it sadly may have been frozen. The shichimi salmon roll on the other hand was delicious and the beef udon was yummy too! We didn't expect the beef to resemble the beef found in hotpot, but it was still tasty. Overall, I enjoyed Ju Ichi and would come back!

Came back for dinner and guaranteed the food is way better in person than ordering. Highly recommend getting the ramen or udon. I got the beef udon and it was really good. The udon was perfectly chewy and bouncy. Overall, had a great experience!

Short rib udon

Food was just salty. It's not authentic Japanese but rather Asian fusion. Uni roll was so expensive for 2 rolls and it wasn't that fresh. (Paid a entree price for 2 rolls) Ordered Hamachi Kama and that was kinda salty. It was chewy and some parts were tender. Shrimp tempura was alright. Batter was too thick, but shrimp was ftesh. Short rib udon was just salty from the broth. You can't have the noodles sit in the soup too long or it's salty. It's Chinese flavored short ribs. I got sick of eating it because of how salty it got. This ain't authentic Japanese food. It was very pricey.

Something delicious.

This is quite simply New York fresh sushi and sashimi plus savory soups and Japanese foods. The highest quality is evident here. Service is always with a smile and it's byob so you can wash the luscious foods down with that special bottle of cool sake. Pro tip: use a wine glass. It's more authentic that way! The Toro is exceptionally glistening and sumptuous.

The bad news is they lost points due to making us wait almost an hour for a small order -the staff is very nice but they appeared to be filling a ton of Grubhub orders before us and the place was half empty. It would've been nice if they gave us a free soup or something to apologize for the long wait but c'est lavie. Other issue - the main one- is their prices are astronomical for a hole in the wall joint in Morristown. As high as any of the Manhattan glam spots, i.e. Soho, Madison Ave, Columbus Circle, etc. Where else do you pay $13 for a salmon roll? 90% of places charge around $7-8 per, so you're looking at a very steep bill. Again, the fish is great but be prepared to spend hi end prices for a hole in the wall joint.

In a nutshell, they prioritized catering-size take-out orders over seated customers, and tried to pad the bill after we handed our credit card. We had a 6PM reservation for 2 and we were the only people in the restaurant. We had a 7PM business call scheduled, and being the only seated customers, assumed we were good on time. A table of 3 and table of 2 walked in after we were seated and placed our order. We merely ordered 2 rolls, each and 1 order of salmon sashimi. Our meal took more than 1.25 hours to be served, because the restaurant was pumping out To-Go orders. Not small To-Go orders, but large round catering trays of sushi and specialty rolls! Our meal was served in "dribs & drabs," not all at once as we usually experienced here. One order of sashimi, wait 10 minutes, then one roll, wait 15 mins, then one more roll... still waiting for two more rolls. The rolls were loose... not like we were used to. Something changed at Asahi. After waiting another 25 minutes, we told our waitress that we preferred our entire order served all at once. Her reply was "it's out of my control how it comes out," with a shoulder shrug. We asked for the manager, and complained that Asahi is making its seated customers wait over To-Go orders. The manager said sorry & tried to give us free dessert. We didn't eat it and we told her we were now late for a business call, because it took an hour and a half for 4 rolls and an order of salmon sashimi. To make matters worse, they overcharged us. Our bill was approximately $88. and when the waitress took we card and ran it, the waitress added a $20. speciality roll that we didn't order or have, increasing the bill to $113. The manager had to fix that, which delayed us further. The food and service were great 3 times prior back in 2025, but this experience was so bad, we will never be back.

The rock shrimp was pretty good and a solid portion for happy hour. The rolls were a decent size as well but I do wish they were wrapped in normal seaweed as opposed to soy paper. The restaurant definitely filled up quickly as it approached dinner time. I would definitely come back!
