Ramen here is the best. We got the Kuro ramen and it was absolutely killer. Super rich and deep pork flavor with a fantastic black garlic oil slathered on it. The bamboo shoots tasted a bit weird but other than that the noodles and meat were cooked perfectly. You can tell the time and care put into this broth because it's fantastic, super layered but not too heavy. Beef tataki wasn't my favorite but I added some of their chili oil and that elevated it a TON. the chili oil here has an amazing flavor and a fantastic addition to any dish. If they sold that id buy it for home. Service was fast, order taken the moment we decided and our app came out about 3 minutes later. The ramen took another 5 minutes and then came out steaming. We were able to walk up to the front and get our check immediately as well. Overall friendly and speedy. The inside is cute with a minimalist japanese aesthetic. Ju-Ichi really hits the spot. I had the shoyu ramen, shrimp tempura, and the spicy crab roll -- everything was absolutely delectable. The ramen had great depth of flavor, the tempura was crisp and light, and the roll was fresh and satisfying. Even on a rainy Thursday night the place was packed, which says a lot, but we were seated immediately. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient the whole time. Stopped in on a cold rainy night for some hearty soup. The Miso Ramen definitely delivered. It was rich, creamy and filling. Loved the black garlic oil in it. I had such a wonderful dinner at Ju-Ichi! We were seated right away without a reservation on a weeknight. The inside was bright and clean. Our server was so lovely and attentive! We both had delicious bottled beverages, my friend chose the sparkling yuzu soda and I had the sparkling lychee oolong tea! So refreshing! I'll start off by saying this place would get 3 stars in Bergen County or NYC but gets a solid 4 stars for here. They have a variety in menu including appetizers, rice bowls, ramen, upon, and sushi. The fact that their menu doesn't specialize means everything is serviceable but not necessarily great. Appetizers were pretty good albeit a little too sweet which makes sense given their customer base. Ramen was pretty good also. Anyway, maybe I am too harsh. This hearty and generous portion filled me up perfectly and I'm going to be craving this all the time. We also tried their beef tataki appetizer, it was perfectly tender and had a nice flavor. However, adding their homemade (I think) chili oil on top brought it to the next level. The chili oil had the best taste, it literally almost tasted like a plate of fried gyoza with how savory and flavorful it was and with the perfect amount of heat, I wish I could take it home!! We went on a Saturday late afternoon and there was no wait, it did take them some time to take our order but the menu is extensive so it was needed. For a relatively quick dinner, a friend and I stopped by Ju Ichi on a Saturday evening. There was a 15 minute wait but there are seats by the entrance for you while your table becomes ready. Once we were called up, we were seated and each of the seats (cubes) actually had a compartment for you to put your belongings in which is nice. I've come here several times with friends, family, and coworkers and each time the fish is fresh. Their dishes are beautifully plated and delicious. I have frequently gotten their karaage and it's consistently amazing. Their pork belly, beef tataki, tuna tartar and miso soup is also delicious. I've also ordered their mackerel which was a much bigger portion than expected and could have been an entree itself! Their mentaiko udon is beautifully creamy. For sushi and sashimi, I've gotten their premium sushi on occasion as well as their daily selection which are both reasonably priced and fresh. I am also a fan of their pepper tuna roll and shichimi salmon roll. Overall, I have yet to eat a dish from here that I did not enjoy. As for ambiance, the restaurant gives casual vibes. More like 3.5 stars. Went to Ju-Ichi for the first time today for lunch. Street parking (meters; 2-hour limit) or parking garages. The good - sushi was excellent. Also, each table had a handy box filled with eating utensils (wooden soup spoons, wooden chopsticks), and napkins. Little jars of condiments and soy sauce were also found on each table. The final plus: it's BYOB. In the "I'm not sure about this" category were the chairs, or should I say hard, heavy wooden backless square-ish stools. Not very comfortable. Gave "don't linger" vibes. We stayed for almost 2 hours anyway. The bad - one, we got our check without asking for it (reinforcing the "don't linger" message). And, two, they charged $2.50 for a cup of hot tea. A bowl is enormous, the broth is rich and flavorful and the noodles are perfectly cooked. They take such pride in this dish that it's not available for takeout (the rest of the menu is though). I started out with some pork gyoza. I order gyoza everywhere, and this was definitely some of the best that I've had. Perfectly crispy and pan fried! For my main I had the pork katsu curry.
