Stopped here yesterday, Mother's Day, with my daughter, who lives in the neighborhood. Every single aspect of our food and service was far more than a 5 star! And my big long hair German Shepherd was immediately given a large bowl of ice water (we chose to sit outside) without our even having to requesti! The waiter was beyond pleasant and very patient and diligent when we inquired about certain menu items. He gave his suggestions and offered changes if needed. When the food began to arrive, it was served spaced nicely and we didn't become overwhelmed with too much at once (we ordered 6 different items because I love doing that on my first trip to a new restaurant). The food was perfection!! Every single bite. Beautifully presented, fresh tasting, and original in many ways...just so impressive. I wish I could recommend a stand out dish, but each dish qualified! We took a bit home, each to our own homes, and still talked about the food today! This Wednesday is my dog's 6th birthday and we plan to go back there, sit indoors in the AC, and have his celebration right there! We can't wait! Thank you to Sushi-Ai and the entire staff, from Angie, to the servers , and to the kitchen!

    Bird's Eye View of deliciousness

Located in the bustling Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, this wonderful sushi establishment is worth trying. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is friendly, and the food is fantastic. We definitely were allowed to take our time and enjoy our meal without feeling rushed, rare for an establishment, especially on a Friday night. We enjoyed spicy edamame and baked mussels from the Happy Hour menu and eased our way into sushi, comprised of tuna, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, albacore and the Yellowtail & Pepper Salmon roll. All were excellent, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth good! Kikusui Junmai Gingo Sake was the sake of choice, chilled and delicious and maybe a cold draft beer to get the weekend started. There are lots of establishments to explore in the area, but give Sushi Ai a try, you won't regret it, unless you don't like sushi. Reasonably priced, welcoming atmosphere, intimate setting inside or out, and a relaxed vibe all the while. Street parking available, watch signage. Valet parking in the lot south of the establishment on Hillhurst. Cheers.

I had the bento box was delicious. My server was very friendly and kind. It was the tall Latino guy with long hair, beard and tattoos i think his name was Boris. He was always checking on us and very a knowledgeable of the menu. Definitely would come back.

Sushi Ai is my daughter's favorite restaurant. She loves it so much she wrote about it. This is one of her draft. It's a nice and friendly place, check them out!

This was a nice place to eat. We sat outside and had a variety of sushi and plates. My favorite was the tempura mix with shrimp and vegetables. Service was good and our food came out fast. Parking: there is a parking lot a few stores down, it does not have the name of the restaurant in the lot but I confirmed it was ok to park there. There's also street parking.

    Chirashi bowl and combo
    Sarah M.

This Chirashi bowl was so delicious! I wasn't sure what the bowl would end up looking like since the choice of sashimi can vary but it had all of the fish selection that you'd expect/want. The sashimi pieces were thick and tender, my favorite was the salmon and the ono (learned something new, I'll be requesting this fish from now on). The flavors from the tamago, seaweed salad, green onion, and tobiko paired so well with the fish and sushi rice. Highly recommend for the freshness and the portion size.

Spicy Alaska Roll and Fire Roll
    Maggie R.

Amazingggggg! Definitely my new go to sushi spot when in town. Spicy Alaska roll is seriously one of the best rolls. The fire roll was very good as well. The baked salmon (forgot to take a pic) was good but not my favorite as I don't prefer cooked salmon on sushi but personal preference nonetheless the sauce was good and I would still recommend.

Average sushi nothing to brag to the sushi gods about. Plates were nicely laid, taste was ok, temperature slightly cold, sushi cuts were from an inexperienced chef (prolly not trained in Japan or not trained by someone trained in Japan). Raw food I don't mess with, either you're hygenic expert , else, I won't give you my business. Omakase was Ok (don't get this). But I asked for a list from our trusty Yelp expert Kevin P, Yelp's sushi spot maven and will be trying more places he recommended. Bonus for the Jeni's ice scream shop a few down. Wow. More on that later.

Susuru Ramen Bar is a real neighborhood spot for ramen, and worth the walk and the drive! The Chicken Karaage is the perfect blend of moist and crispiness, and didn't feel heavy or oily. Some places serve chicken karaage over-breaded or drenched in oil, but not Susuru! The Mayu Ramen is really where it's at though. This pork-broth base ramen with black garlic oil surprisingly uses egg noodles, so it's a richer, different taste that certainly stands out. At the same time, no singular taste overwhelms the rest of the dish, and everything from the seasoned soft boiled egg to the perfectly charred chiashu work together in one harmonious feast. This is one ramen bowl that is literally good to the last drop!

Saw the high reviews so had to check it out. Susuru Ramen Bar is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and N Kingsley Dr. The lot is small sharing spaces with other restaurants so your best bet is street parking, which can also be tricky especially later in the day. The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. Definitely worth checking out for a great bowl of ramen.

We made reservations for 9 but arrived 15 minutes early and luckily 2 people had just left so we were seated immediately. We were welcomed by Missy as she helped us order food for which was supposed to be for 2 people but the food was so good we ate for about like 4 people and don't regret a second of it. Before I continue I just want to put it out there that Missy had exceptional customer service skills and she was so funny and super attentive and so nice, I almost wanted to hug her before we left lol. We started with edamame and spicy tuna on crispy rice and immediately after that I knew we were about to eat some bomb sushi, and sure enough walked in happy and left ecstatic because we're coming back this week for round 2. Fish was INSANE quality, sashimi was literal butter, the rolls were out of this world. For someone who orders extra sauce for once I didn't have to use extra ponzu or spicy mayo because everything is just so flavorful. Thank you SANTŌ you can take all my money any day! My wife and I visited on a busy Saturday evening and it was as you would expect. It was super busy, about a 20-30 minute wait even after getting on the Yelp waitlist via our phones early. Parking - Valet, currently $7.00 but we decided to park a bit further away and walked over. Free parking on streets but some are metered parking. So parking here is pretty limited and a bit hectic. We each got our own bowls of ramen, classic & shoyu respectively. We also ordered a side of Chicken Karaage to share, very crispy and well made. Highly recommend as an appetizer. It's a bit spicy with the sauce dip though. Firstly, the ramen bowls were presented quickly, service was quick as well and staff was friendly, very nice atmosphere despite how busy it was. Each bowl itself is huge but thats mostly for presentation. I absolutely love the quality of noodles/ramen here. Each bite was creamy and savory, not too salty as well which is always a plus for ramen shops. I'm very impressed with the portions as well and yes it can be deceiving because of how big the bowl is but the portion size is pretty decent. Love each and every bite. Overall, very impressed with the original Silverlake Ramen in Silverlake. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but it's all worth it when it comes to the quality of this ramen shop.
