Whew! What amazing sushi. Favorites include the El Guapo roll, spicy tuna roll, blue crab roll & the shishito peppers. The fish was just the perfect texture, the flavors were nice and fresh. The service was excellent. It's a little out of the way of downtown LA, and on a Wednesday evening with a group of 5 we were able to walk in and sit right down outside on a beautiful night. This is some of my favorite sushi I've ever had and, especially for LA, the prices seemed reasonable enough. I would highly recommend this place! read more

Well, I have to say the sushi here was quite good. I had been earlier for their soft opening and enjoyed myself. But, since then I think the food has only gotten better. The menu was very different than when I was there last. It looked like they were clearly paying attention to what their clientele where enjoying most and focus sing on those dishes. I had the sashimi salad first...it's basically a poke salad that was really delicious and tasty in a delightfully healthy way. Unlike many poke salads , the focus was on fresh fish and fresh green (lost of arugula...yum) rather than heavy dressing like tons of spicy mayo. Very nice. The second course was a Golden Spicy Tuna Roll. I don't normally take food photos, but this one deserved it. While definitely not as health as the sashimi salad (being deep-fried and all), it was delicious: crunchy and flavorful. It was actually the one dish that my dining partner both ordered because we knew we didn't want to share. The decor remains minimalist, with exposed brick. cement and wood work. And the wait staff was very pleasant. The only thing I would ding them on is that it took a bit of time to flag down a waiter for our check. But it was was a Friday evening and I'm not a monster. Serrano tuna was good, the yuki was more sour than I expected but I can see folks liking it. The spicy tuna was as expected, the Cali roll was actually more avocado than imitation crab so it was fairly creamy. The post meal oranges was a nice touch! Service was very attentive, shout out to Chris C! Went here because it is on inkind and I had a deal. Prices are typical of a sushi spot but I think quality is okay. I usually eat sushi at little Tokyo so not sure how good it is relative to the area. Ambiance is chill, very empty for a weeknight although I went around 8 pm for dinner. read more

Very nice spot! Good music, good ambiance, friendly staff and fresh sushi! It has the perfect location. You will have to drive around to find parking but it's well worth it. It's pretty spacious but a few of the tables were reserved, so it might be worth it to make a reservation if possible. I happened to get lucky and come on an early Saturday evening when it was not very many people. The staff welcomed everyone in, even as the place gradually increased in patrons as the evening progressed. The music was a nice mix of pop, rock, rap from 90s to today's hits. It was not too loud so you can have a nice conversation without yelling. The sushi was fresh. I tried a variety and cannot pick a favorite. I'd like to try more but my go to is the salmon. The New Zealand Salmon Roll is always a hit. Great spot! read more

I've been here a few times since they've opened and love it. It's still in its soft opening phase, but this past week they finally got beer and sake. Woo hoo! Let's get to the food though: Salmon Sashimi - 5 stars. The fish quality is excellent and the presentation was beautiful as well. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice - 5 Stars. The rice is perfectly crisped and the tuna was delicious, all topped with an avocado mousse. Baked Crab & Avocado Roll - 5 Stars. The sushi chef made this for me and it should really be on the menu cause it was excellent! Crunch Roll - 4 1/2 Stars. Quite filling, this was a fun tempura roll that was complex with a great texture to it. The menu is inventive with tons of options, while still having all your classic items, too. The service is always excellent whether you're at the sushi bar or a table, and the ambiance is minimal and chic. Definitely adding this to my rotation of favorite sushi spots in the neighborhood. read more

They also had gluten free options for our friend with allergy restrictions. The location is spacious with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. A higher quality sushi spot for Los Feliz Village (not to disparage the quality of the other 3 on Vermont and Hillhurst) I felt the prices was on the high end (I got the Omakase Nigiri & I'm comparing to the famous place in Little Tokyo). But the cuts are super fresh. The owner told us he has fresh fish brought in daily - and the quality shows. The presentation was beautiful, but I would have liked more attention to traditional flavors (and act piece had its customized sauce/topping). If they can nail down the rice flavors and the seaweed, this will be a solid go to for prime sushi, but right now it feels too pricey (again comparing to Little Tokyo or the Omakase in Silverlake). I may hit them at happy hour (if that exists). The restaurant itself was fine: a bit too bright and modern for my taste, especially for a higher quality establishment. It has more of a rockin sushi vibe, that, I feel, belies the fish quality. The staff was polite and courteous. read more

From the food to the service, Roji Sushi did not disappoint. We dined on the patio and listened to an amazing playlist that I will be sure to ask about the next time I visit. Stumbled upon this place after an important meeting and absolutely loved it! : service was slow when I came in but that made things even better for me. My waiter was quick, gave great opinions, and funny service. As a person who never really liked sushi these rolls were great! The first one we had was a dragon roll, a classic that they did very well. Our other roll was a baked one called Figaro. It blew my mind. This miso cod that sat on top of the roll felt so smooth on my palette; complimented with the cleansing of the orange koala was perfect. Our roll did take a bit of time to show but we were in no hurry yet they still gave us complimentary miso soup which was great to have between rolls. I will definitely be back again. We stopped by here quickly before a screening at the Los Feliz theater next door. All we ordered was the spicy tuna crispy rice, but this brief dining experience was great and makes me want to come back for more. For about 10 minutes we were the only people inside, but it was Monday night so that makes sense. Another 2 folks ended up coming in after us. The place was clean and the rice came out quickly. Our waiter was soo kind, you know where you can just tell people have a nice genuine aura. He even brought us this little orange bear on the house after we had paid. SO CUTE! Such a nice touch. Service was okay, it could have been faster, but they were busy and they are only just opening. You have to ask for ginger which was odd to me.
