Sushi Ai is a great little neighborhood place. The sushi presentations are standard and predictable, not cutting edge stuff, yet always fresh and tasty. And most of the time, that's all you really need. I really like the nigiri options; my wife enjoys the rolls; especially the shrimp roll. The AYCE option for lunch or dinner is a good deal, especially when we bring our 12 year old son, who loves sushi and can inhale it like nothing else. They have amazing sushi and good prices unfortunately they have some of the worst service around town. If the service was better I would probably eat there once a week. I'm not a Sushi eater but my wife loved the Salmon/avocado roll and the yellow tail roll. She said the fish tasted fresh. I stuck with the safe play: chicken lo mein, which was excellent. Cheap, casual and so so. I saw the all you can eat too late. I wanted a little more than sushi and order general tso (yes I know that is weird to order at a sushi place but it sounded good). If you need your sushi fix, this is a pretty simple fix that isn't Dierbergs. The wait staff was nice and food came out pretty quick. Only bumping down a star because my friend is allergic to avocado and the menu didn't say the roll she ordered had avocado. I know it would have been simple to ask, but consider including every ingredient on the menu. Your customers will thank you and you'll get less annoying questions. read more

This place is awful. They serve bad tuna that landed me in the hospital. If you let tuna sit out it converts histadine (which is inherent in tuna) to histamine (which causes the response of an allergic reaction to anyone...even if not allergic typically) from being in room temperature too long. It caused a severe reaction where I broke out in hives and my throat was closing. I had to go to the ER and get an epinephrine shot and am now left with an ER bill of over $200. I do not have any food allergies and often eat tuna elsewhere. This specific response is what the doctor said happens when tuna is bad, and he guessed I ate tuna before I even told him. Do yourself a favor and eat at a better sushi place. This place may seem like a bargain, but add the ER bill in and you're out quite a bit. Spend more money on better sushi and people that care about what they feed you and you'll save in the end. Never going back to any of these chains again. read more

sushi is fresh which made it quite tasty...loved the eel sushi and spicy tuna hand roll...amazing! was not impressed with the rolls..for example, ordered a salmon, eel, avocado, cucumber roll...and it was all cucumber ..no joke! There was a sliver ..i mean SLIVER of salmon and eel and i could barely find the avocado. perhaps, because I ordered the all you eat lunch.....portion is less? I do not belive price should impact quantity when repeat service is a factor ....oh and the service is pretty bad. We had to wave them down a few times to get a refill on drinks ...and slow to serve food....been waiting 15 mins now for desert......first time here ...possibly the regular dinner menu is a little better and we actually get fish in the rolls? coming back to eat here is debatable. read more

I've eaten at Sushi Ai over the past year and in my opinion, the service is really bad. After my last visit, I can easily say that I will never be returning. We walked in and our host brought us to a table close to the kitchen, since we didn't like the smell, we asked our server to change us to another table and her answer was "no" right away (without any explanation and being very rude). It wasn't the greatest start. However, I went with my cousins and two of them don't eat any type of sushi so they ordered different dishes, since my sister and I ordered the all you can eat special, our server (being rude as before) told us that we couldn't share the food, we explained her that the other girls didn't like the sushi, but still.. she kept staring at us while we were eating. It was very uncomfortable since she kept going to our table just to check who was eating the all you can eat meal. We ordered water at least 4 times, and the server never brought them. We were so upset that we didn't leave any tip and we wrote a note saying how bad the service was. I give 2 stars just for the food, but that's it! read more

Fresh food and great service. I am really picky about sushi, you really have to be unless you want to spend a fortune on getting ill. Their spicy tuna roll is probably one of my favorites. I have been to this Sushi AI a few times since it first opened. I am a huge fan of the sushi AI in Maryland Heights and this one is just as good! The atmosphere at this location is nicer then the Maryland Heights one and the prices are the same. The cuts of fish are not extremely high quality but they are not low quality either. Their ginger salad dressing is good for starting your meal. I normally also recommend the Gyoza and Shrimp Dumplings as appetizers as they are both very good. The rolls are generally very good but I find myself asking for no cucumber as they load the rolls up with cucumber. The White Tuna sushi is my favorite piece of sushi here and I will normally eat 4 or 5 pieces of it. I have gone here with friends of mine who I have not converted to sushi eating yet and they have enjoyed the Chicken Fried Rice, which tasted very good. Overall give this place a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Service tends to be hit or miss, food is decent for sushi in the midwest. Great value for the price. The rolls could be a little better rolled so to speak, they often fall apart when picking them up. I would also reccommend deciding what you want fairly quickly as they tend to be a little slow even with appetizers. read more

Sushi Ai was one of my favorite go-to's for sushi. I loved going for the AYCE deals both at lunch or at dinner at both the Dorsett and St. Charles locations. I moved to D.C. a year ago, and there are definitely no places that can match the price to quality here! The AYCE option is made to order, and you do have to eat it all (or they can charge you full price for the roll), but the sushi is delicious! The service is particularly nice at the St. Charles location, and the decorations are nicer too! Definitely a must whenever we make our trips back! read more

The waitress couldn't explain their All You Can Eat special. We ended up ordering the 12 Piece Deluxe with tuna roll, but only received 9 pieces of sushi which included 1 egg omelet & 1 avocado piece (I would never consider either of these sushi). After bringing it to her attention the waitress brought us 3 more pieces of "real" sushi. They were very stingy with the pickled ginger & wasabi. The rice was equivalent to Uncle Bens. Unexpected night out w/ out the children so I convinced my non-sushi eating husband to join me as I try out the sushi using a 'deal' I had found. He tried some new Japanese beer...which he enjoyed thoroughly...AND I just couldn't avoid the $17.99 all you can eat sushi. I can put away some sushi AND I did. It was fantastic. I'm not sure I've had white tuna before...but was my favorite. Everything was fresh and tasty. The sushi master was fun too! as was the staff.
