Firstly, the buffet was very clean and very organized. My best friend graduated college, so her family and I stopped in to grab some lunch. The service was good, our servers were very accommodating to the large party and wanted to make sure everyone was satisfied with where they were sitting. The food was good, your basic buffet food. The only downside was the ice cream bar. I'm used to buffets having real ice cream that you can scoop. For stl buffet standards, this is pretty good! I love the variety of Asian foods (Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, and American etc). They had fried crab, crawfish, mussels, shrimps (garlic and honey), their seafood boil, sushi, pho, calamari, and the basics like black pepper chicken, orange chicken, crab rangoon, lo mein, fried rice, the soups (egg drop, hot and sour, clear broth), veggies, and a lot of fresh fruits (mango, pineapple, orange slices), ice cream, mini cakes, etc. Each time I've gone, it's always been busy and I've had to wait, but it doesn't take too long to get a table (depending on the day/time you go). The staff works hard to get new food out on the line. I love that it's busy enough for the food to get replaced with hot, fresh food. The servers are very attentive and have always been nice. I must admit that I have not been to a buffet since pre-Covid and I was still a little apprehensive about going, however, I am glad I made the choice to give it a try. Back before Covid I was always go to Ameristar buffet, which was my favorite because it has so many options and this is exactly what this reminded me of. When you enter the restaurant, it's very clean, and they have really nice decor on the walls at the entry. You walk to the host stand and they seat you which they have ample amount of seating so even when the line is long, the wait won't be very long. As I was walking to my seat, I was checking out the cleanliness and they have a lot of workers that clean throughout people walking which I think is very great. They have food choices for just about everyone from sushi to hot food to pho. Literally anything you can think of Chinese, Asian, Japanese food related is in that restaurant. Even on the end buffet, they have a lot of options for children who don't really care to explore such as chicken nuggets and french fries biscuits and a few other things that kids would enjoy which I thought was great. We went here with the kids yesterday during lunch time. This place interior is clean and bright. Yesterday was day two that they recently opened this location. The server that assisted us was nice and friendly. There are a lot of different type of food. As far as the quality of food, a few items do stand out to me, the other items are similar in taste to other buffet places I had. Honestly I love a good Chinese buffet so this may be a little biased but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Golden Apple! I came with a few friends for lunch on a Monday and were promptly seated. The interior is pretty clean and spacious. The staff were very attentive with helping clear plates and fill waters as needed. My favorite here (surprisingly) is the pho-- the broth is quite flavorful and I really enjoyed the clams, shrimp, beef, and beef tendon I was able to add to my bowl. There is chili oil available as well if you ask (I would recommend this, it adds good flavor). They didn't have any salmon nigiri when I went for lunch, but having had the salmon nigiri before during lunch I think it was just an unusual day. They always have a wide variety of vegetables, meat, dessert, etc. I love that there is something for everyone! The lunch prices came out to around $19 or so per person after tax and tip, which we thought was pretty reasonable. I will definitely be back sometime. read more

Gorgeous remodel. Everything is new and modern. Despite being super duper busy, we didn't have to wait long for a table. The buffets contain all the usual dishes you expect to find plus some. There's sushi, hibachi, and pho stations. Too much to sample in one visit. I did the hibachi station and while they were cooking my plate, there was an entire grill of teriyaki chicken in the works. I came here on mothers day ready to big back my way across this place and man, what a buffet this is! It seems that buffet style restaurants have been dwindling, and if that has made you sad too, you need to go. Right now. The selection is crazy and there are a ton of healthy options and plenty of not-so-healthy stuff as well. It's LOUD and it's PACKED. Our server was incredibly sweet. The kids tackled mountains of fried goods, American-Asian classics, and sushi. Unfortunately I had a medical issue midway through dinner and had to leave before I got to hibachi or pho myself into oblivion. Our server was really great about that, too. I'm not going to lie: I am unabashedly into this place. Probably one of the best buffets I've ever been to. It is quite a drive from STL/CWE, but I think it's so worth it. There will always be a wait, but the wait time is not as long as the crowd suggests. It moves relatively fast. There are also fun crane games there too. The buffet itself is extraordinarily clean with food items that are generally rare to see in other buffets. First, seafood boil at a buffet is crazy. Is it the best seafood boil ever? No, but that's not the point; it's extremely serviceable. Second, pho bar? That goes hard, not going to lie. You can fill it up with as much meat and accoutrements as you want, and the broth is not bad. The hibachi is also really good as well. Typically don't wait in line for it because the line is long and moves a little bit slow, but definitely worth it if it's what you're into. Other standouts, the sushi is surprisingly not bad for a landlocked city. The crab rangoons are also really delicious, probably one of the best ones I've had. Overall, it has such a wide variety of food and cuisines, and there's something for everyone. All of the foods are generally above average, and I look forward to coming everytime. It was crowded, but the wait was minimal since the place is huge with multiple sections. The food was just okay. The typical Chinese buffet looks old, dark, and questionably clean. Golden Apple is atypical. It's bright, clean, and well stocked. Crowding is still an issue because at noon on a Monday the place drew a cross section of the community to its large selection of Asian and American foods, hibachi grill, and DIY pho kitchen. The sushi selection had more than a dozen items. Like always the American food section had a variety of fried and cooked meat and vegetables. The salad bar was large with a multitude of ingredients. And the Asian section contained things that aren't often seen in a Chinese buffet, such as pigs feet and chicken feet. Everything was freshly made, and food trays were regularly replenished in the restaurant of variety of staff quickly removed empty plates and dirty napkins, refilling drinks along the way. Lots of options I stayed with the hibachi grill and all the mix match options available. I really enjoyed the garlic sauce they had there. It was extremely potent but very good with my dish. Chicken and seafood options along with vegetable and plenty of dessert. I mean this place is endless with food. I did use the restroom that was not very impressed. The restroom was very unclean. Lots of overflowed garbage baskets, sticky floors, plus need to wiped down their mirror. Especially with dealing with the public, and a buffet you should have someone staffed in the 24/7. Had been eyeing this place for a while after I heard about it from a family member. It's been crowded everytime my family and I have tried to go, but we braved it out on a holiday and decided to go ahead and go. We called ahead to make sure they were open and they were, and they even told us how long the wait time was estimated to be for our party. We headed there and got on the list to be seated. We were given a number card and waited about 20-30 minutes,before being notified that our table was ready. There are limited seats for you to sit in While waiting for your table, so people are standing around outside. It is hard to hear your number being called, as there is no speakers outside, and the number board is pretty small and higher up. So you have to constantly keep walking up to the door, or rely on other people around you to help with letting you know what number is up next. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. I loved the blue crabs, lo mein and build your own Pho station. They constantly replenished the food, and our server checked in on us regularly. They could stand to clean the bathrooms often as the trash was spilling over and in the hallway. Definitely will come back, but maybe during a different time of the day. read more

I have to say until I came to this restaurant, Hokkaido was my favorite. I have been to this place like 3 times in two weeks. I don't usually like "out" food. There were so many choices. On the first island there were fried foods such as crab Rangoon, fried chicken wingettes, sweet and sour chicken and the sauce egg rolls wontons etc. On the second island there was the best seafood cheese I have tased. It made me look up the recipe. Fish, ribs, stuffed scallops corn and some noodles On the third island sausage mussels, calamari, and some bread. Something like sesame chicken, and pork steaks. Another island had crawfish, hot buttered rolls, crawfish , more noodles There was also butter potatoes, coconut shrimp, very sweet watermelon and other fruits. Cakes cookies pies and of course ice cream. Nobody in my party made it to the phô station, sushi, or the hibachi grill area but I am willing to go back anytime someone wants to go.
